  1. While waiting for an injection windscreen for my Spitfire PR 11 I decided to make a start on my Hawker Typhoon FR.1b. As with most aircraft it all starts with the cockpit. There is a lot of conjecture over the colour with black walls and aluminium framework seeming to be correct for a bubble top so I went with that. As with all aircraft I build I used Eduards' cockpit zoom set to dress it up. And here it is installed in the fuselage. I built the car door type previously and forgot how bad the fit of the fuselage inserts was. I know Hasegawa did it so that they could minimise on the sprues but they could at least have designed the sides to fit better! I cut out the forward area of the cockpit area sides as per the instructions but now have nowhere to install the gunsight!. Has anyone else done the same? How did you get round it? Regards Mick
  2. Thanks chaps. Dean, the decals were in fact from Kitsworld - set kw148152, which covers test aircraft. I didn't find them thick but some were a bit fragile and a lot of the stencils were misnumbered. David, Me too and it reminded me of the old 1/72 one I built as a kid.
  3. Terrific job. Great work and you would never know it was brush painted. You have inspired me to get back to work on mine. 👌
  4. Beastieboy has come through for me and has kindly offered to send me a windscreen.
  5. Great work with my favourite jet! You have done it justice. Where did you get the 41 Sqn decals? They are the old style from when I was on the sqn. I have the airfix kit myself but it comes with the newer type with the white outlines.
  6. That's OK. Just be very careful when you apply them.
  7. Thanks Sinnerboy. The decals had a habit of tearing and folding. Also most of them were wrongly labelled and I couldn't make out what they looked like on the instructions.
  8. Hooray! just found it. Glued on before I lose it again. I have cut out the vacform windscreen but it doesn't fit very well. Would the Airfix PR XIX kit one fit? If so I may ask Airfix if they can sell me one.
  9. Wow that's a very detailed figure.
  10. I went to glue the engine intake from the conversion set on but I appear to have lost it! I don't suppose anyone has a 1/48 early mk ix spitfire short intake going spare at all, have they?
  11. Thanks Head in the clouds and Scooby.
  12. Thank you. Go on Marcello, build it you know you want to! 🙂
  13. Try using a JLC razor saw. The blades seem really thin. I use one all the time. Replacement blades are a bit pricey but CMK make them as well.
  14. Good progress, those horses are looking good,
