  1. 1/48 Spitfire PR XI captured by the Germans and displayed to their front line squadrons by the Zirkus Rosarius unit. The doner kit was from Hasegawa, the conversion kit was from Airwaves and the decals from Cutting Edge.
  2. Here it is completed. I will post more in the completed thread.
  3. Now my Spitfire is finished I can concentrate on the Typhoon.
  4. Thanks guys. Yes I guess it does look a little strange. I have finished it now so will post some pics later.
  5. Made some more progress and put the decals on. The years haven't been kind to them, they have become brittle and kept wanting to split and wouldn't stick down in some places. For some reason all my photos look large enough until I paste them in here. I have tried paste image link and paste image. I have been using my phone, which usually ends in the pictures being larger.
  6. Looking good, it's coming along nicely.
  7. Great work, it's coming along nicely.
  8. That was a quick build, well done it looks great.
  9. It wasn't too bad. I primed first with Halfords white primer then three coats of Model Air's RLM 04. Some of the circular access panel lines will need re-scoring.
  10. Made some more progress. I ended up using the Vac Form canopy as I never heard back about the injection one. I think it looks ok -will see when the masking comes off. The top was painted with RLM 70 and the bottom in RLM 04. I have just gloss varnished it ready for panel lining and decals.
  11. That's a great looking cockpit. Very impressive build.
  12. Well done, it is looking great. Can't wait to see it finished!
  13. Thanks Col. I haven't worked on it for a bit as I did some work on the Spitfire PR XI and just spent a week cruising round the Norwegian Fjords.
  14. I put the wings on at the start of the week after installing the only part of the conversion set - the camera panel on the underside of the port wing. The inboard cannon required removing, as it was replaced by the cameras. I managed to scratchbuild the gunsight support bracket and pad. Apologies for the bad photo. I just could not get it into full focus in close up. And here it is in place.
  15. I shall have to get some pictures and some plastic rod and try and scratch something.
  16. Thanks Stever19 Shame Eduard didn't include it in their zoom set.
  17. While waiting for an injection windscreen for my Spitfire PR 11 I decided to make a start on my Hawker Typhoon FR.1b. As with most aircraft it all starts with the cockpit. There is a lot of conjecture over the colour with black walls and aluminium framework seeming to be correct for a bubble top so I went with that. As with all aircraft I build I used Eduards' cockpit zoom set to dress it up. And here it is installed in the fuselage. I built the car door type previously and forgot how bad the fit of the fuselage inserts was. I know Hasegawa did it so that they could minimise on the sprues but they could at least have designed the sides to fit better! I cut out the forward area of the cockpit area sides as per the instructions but now have nowhere to install the gunsight!. Has anyone else done the same? How did you get round it? Regards Mick
