  1. Or, if you have an air brush, mask around the panel and spray a coat of paint, slightly thicker than normal, on it.
  2. Beatiful Phantom! Congratulations! And a small tip; since you are having problems with the pitot tubes on the fin breaking, this might be of some help: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MR72035
  3. Just out of curiosity; what was the reason for the change of name? Is there some (naughty?) double meaning in the name "Nora Batty" that I miss, not being a native speaker?
  4. Sweden bought a few Mk.1 missiles for evaluation by the army and the air force. These were white. A few of these still remain today as gate guardians or at museums. After the evaluation, the army instead bought the US Hawk system (still in use today, although much upgraded), and the air force bought a large number of Mk.2 missiles. These were originally white, but later on painted green.
  5. I had the great pleasure of meeting the late Mr Mike Eacock at Donnnington many years ago. A very amiable and humble man! He was almost embarassed when I told him how much I had enjoyed building his Scimitar kit.
  6. IIRC there is a small company in the US that makes and sells custom molded lead nose weights for models. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the company, but I've seen their products reviewed at http://modelingmadness.com/. Most weights are for 1/48 jets, but they also make weights for some 1/72 models, notably bombers with a nose gear, although I'm not sure if they make one for the B-24. But it might be worth checking out. And as far as I remember, prices were very reasonable, only a couple of bucks.
  7. I was just thinking... This might be a long shot, but IIRC Paragon used to do a Lincoln conversion kit many years ago, Since the Paragon Manchester conversion kit, of which one is presently residing in my ever growing stash, includes a vacformed dorsal turret of the early type used on the Manchester, it might be possible that their Lincoln kit also contained a vacformed rear turret of the correct type.
  8. Mixed Milliput stops curing when you put it in the freezer, and will las a lot longer than just a couple of days. Otherwise I usually roll out any leftovers into the shape of a rod and use it as a test piece. When it doesn't bend but rather snaps, the Milliput is fully cured and you can start sanding it where you have applied it on the model.
  9. I was about to suggest the same. I've got one for my next Jag, and for several other models too. They are absolutely stunning and in my opinion the single best aftermarket improvement you can add to a model. Besides, they don't accidently break like the plastic (or resin) ones do.
  10. I couldn't agree more! Since I got the JLC razor saw, I have never used a knife or scalpel to remove parts from the sprue. Couldn't do without it!
  11. I used those decals on my Scimitar. Unfortunately when you apply the numbers and roundels on the nose, the demarcation lin between the EDSG and the white colour is visible through the decals as the decal colours aren't dense enough.
  12. I built the Skybird 86 Scimitar many, many years ago. I hope you have the complete instructions for it, since they contain some highly invaluable building advice. One has to remember that this kit is from the time when the cottage industry short run kits were in their infancy. Admittedly the plastic part are a bit rough and the plastic used is almost rock hard and tough to work with. On the other hand the white metal parts, especially the landing gear and the wheels are superb, the vacformed canopy perfect alhough difficult to fit. All in all, considering its age it is an excellent kit.
  13. A big hearty congratulation to you Steve! You have not only produced two absolutely stunning models (speaking as a contest judge for some 30 years), but also kept me and several others spellbound following your very instructive, highly entertaining, and at times also very amusing build thread. Although very pleasing to see the excellent end result, it is also at the same time a bit sad that this has reached the end. But as others already have said, Im already looking forward the the Hawks and then the Jags. Thank you Steve for having allowed us to accompay you on this journy.
  14. Friend of mine also got his kit the other day.
  15. Just like the sad law of vacform modelling: An unpainted vacformed modell impresses everyone. When it is painted, it is just another model.
  16. Settling myself down comfortably with great anticipation, to enjoy the new Buffalo Bill Building Show!
  17. I wrote this a few years ago: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234928898-bad-to-the-bone-correcting-and-updating-monogramrevells-172-b-1b/#entry1175292
  18. IIRC there was a build article on the Contrail Valiant B.1 in an issue of SAM many years ago. I remember that article giving some very good advice.
  19. Two problems; first of all currently out of production, and secondly the wheels are too small. Otherwise a great kit.
  20. A slightly OT question arises: Where were the B.II's made? I.e. green or black cockpits?
  21. These pohtos show something that intrigued me when I was working on my Dominie last year (unfortunately now a stalled project). There clearly seems to be a slight gull wing shape to the inner part of the flaps and the rear wing root fairings, a feature completely missing on the kit.
