Academy 72nd P-51B "Old Crow"
Mig88 replied to Mark Joyce's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Regardless of everything, it came out nicely. A bit of weathering would improve it but that's up to each one's taste. I like the detail of the white on the tyres. I've got a couple of these in my stash, but of the other boxings (P-51Cs). Miguel -
Hello everyone Here is my latest kit, finished this past weekend. It is A&W's 1:144 Mitsubishi J4M Senden "Luke". I have finished it in fictitious markings representing a machine from the 407th Fighter Squadron, 343rd Naval Flying Group, IJN, from Matsuyama Air Base, in late 1945. A&W kits are made by Anigrand Craftswork and cover only Japanese aircraft both real or projected, as is this case. The J4M was never built not even as a prototype as the IJN preferred the Kyushu J7W instead. Surprisingly though, the Allies gave it a codename. The resin parts were quite clean but had some moulding flaws that had to be dealt with. The joining of parts wasn't bad but still needed work and getting the main components properly aligned was very tricky and I didn't get it quite right. The kit was built mostly OOB with some details added such as the wing pitot tube and the 30mm cannon. In fact the kit came with only one gun on the port side. I removed this detail (I didn't like it) and made holes for the three guns it was supposed to carry as per some plans I found on internet. It was painted and varnished with brush. All decals came from my spares since the kit only came with insignia and the red was too light. Since "Senden" means "flashing lightning" I couldn't help putting some lightning bolt decals in the nose area (from a Sweet Rufe decal sheet). Thank you for looking and, as always, all comments are welcome Miguel

Wow!! Very nicely finished!! I have built several of their 1:144 kits so I know how tricky they can be. I have one of these in my stash but in 1:144 scale. Miguel. -

It was painted and varnished with brush. Thank you for looking and all comments are welcome as always Miguel

Here is my Revell 1:72 Focke-Wulf Fw 226 "Flitzer" which I built back in 2005 in, naturally, fictitious markings. This kit was from the first release (it has been re-released with new decals). It was painted with airbrush. Thanks for looking Miguel

Martin JM-1 Marauder - 1:144 Minicraft
Mig88 replied to Mig88's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thank you very much to everyone! Scott, I can't remember how many but yes it took quite a few! Miguel -
Here is my Minicraft 1:144 Martin JM-1 Marauder which I built back in 2014. It represents 66749/U8 of the US Marine Corps in January 1945. The JM-1 was a target tug variant developed from the B-26B/C Marauder used by the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. Despite releasing the kit for this variant, the modifications needed were hinted at vaguely in the instructions and so the work is very much do-it-yourself. I used a Matador Models white metal cockpit for the interior. The forward gun packs had to be scraped off and sanded smooth, the hole for the upper turret had to be plugged and the fuselage spine sanded smooth too and the tail cone had the guns removed and was reshaped to match references. I opened some windows and added any missing aerials. Wing lights were also added. The kit was painted with brush with decals coming from the kit. The matt varnish was airbrushed. Thanks for looking Miguel

You've done a lovely job on that old kit. It looks great! I built one of these in my early modelling days (around 1980!). Miguel- 24 replies

Me 262A-1a JG27 Marseille - 1:144 Eduard
Mig88 replied to Mig88's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Thank you Sub-Sam Check out my builds which I posted in early August. Miguel -
Hello everyone Here is my Eduard 1:144 Messerschmitt Me 262A-1a painted in the standard Luftwaffe MTO scheme which I built in 2009. It represents "Yellow 14", 3./JG27, Luftwaffe, flown by Hans-Joachim Marseille, Libya, 1944 (fictitious of course). The Me 262 is one of my favourite aircraft and I always thought it would have looked great in a desert scheme and with the release of Eduard's lovely kit I decided to finally paint one this way. This "what-if" kit is based on two "what ifs": what if Hans-Joachim Marseille survived his fatal accident and was hospitalised for a while until he recovered and what if Germany didn't lose in North Africa and was eventually able to deploy Me 262s there. In this scenario, Marseille returned to front-line service at about the same time the Me 262s were delivered to JG27 and so his aircraft wore the same number of kill markings before his accident - 158. The kit was painted with brush. Since this was the bagged E-Day kit with only Czech markings, most decals came from my spares box. Marseille's markings were leftovers from Sweet's Bf 109F kit. Thanks for looking Miguel
