Your description of the build is very true for all DML kits, some being notorious in those terms. Your perserverence has paid off and the result is superb and worthy of admiration. Bravo!

The version of the Buffalo that the Finns used was the better one, based on the F2A-1, which didn't have the weight and poor power problems of the next variants. A more closer look at the history of the Buffalo shows that, although indeed its performance suffered, it was maligned for the wrong reasons. The British used it as a scapegoat to cover up the poor state of its forces in SE Asia and the lack of measures taken to prepare for a Japanese attack and its deathknell at Midway came because most of the pilots who flew it there were inexperienced, having recently replaced those that had been trained on the type and who had been reassigned to other units.

That looks fantastic though I wouldn't have highlighted the panel lines except those of moving surfaces (well that's what I did on mine which I posted earlier this year).
I too hope they make the other releases they had intended (early Mk.I, PR and cannon-armed 'b' variants).
