  1. Count me in please! The last kit I finished was the Airfix Whirlwind - which I built for the last Starter Kit build! How long ago was that?! :-) Jimbo

  3. Hi Stew Definitely watching this one * as I've got a couple of those re-releases in the stash - see what tips I can pick up Although I still haven't put into practice all the ideas I nicked. . . errrr . . . picked up from your Spitfire builds! Bring on the Lizzies! ** * I actually watch all your builds, particular waiting for the Swordfishes ** Glad I checked before posting - Lizzies was 'corrected' to Lessies! Bit worrying Jim
  4. Hi Stew Been following your builds - such great inspiration, as well as wonderfully well written. Love the humour! May I ask a question? In your build of RN●N you've fitted exhaust glare shields. I've Googled and can't find any pics of the aircraft - where did you get the info on the glare shields? I'm not doubting you by the way! It's my frustration at my seeming inability to get successful searches on Google! Can't wait for the Swordfish (es)! Best wishes Jim
  5. Hi all, Just a couple (well, 6) from Shoreham on Sunday.I can't believe how many I took, these are from a quick whizz through. Mind you, I haven't really been through the pics from Fairford 2012 yet! Jim
  6. Just feel like I've been treated to my own private flying display! Am at my girlfriend's place in Middleton-on-Sea (just east of Chichester . . oh alright, just east of Bognor, lol!) and out in the garden helping with the dreaded gardening. I hear an engine sound a bit beefier than the usual civvy stuff flying out of nearby Goodwood. I look about and it seems to be due west - "ahh, beware of the hun in the sun", I thought. Only to see it was a Spitfire! Ahhhhh . . . It flew over due east, and I was umming and erring as to whether to get the binoculars. It disappeared into the distance, and I called out a forlorn 'come back!' A few minutes later, it did so - and proceeded to do a few tight (the looked tight to me anyway) turns, barrel rolls and loops. And me without bins or camera! But it was such a wonderful sight, a Spit doing aerobatics in a clear blue sky. I have to say it brought a tear to my eye - just the brightness of the sun, I told the gf A very happy Jim :-)
  7. Hi Arnaud I've voted for option 2, although I'd be happy with either just to get some nice intakes :-) Jim
  8. Must do some modelling . . .

  12. Looking really good John! I have one of your Vacform conversions (the complete fuselage), but have been afraid to use it in case I mess it up (my previous forays into the vacform field haven't fared too well!) so this looks like the perfect answer to my B2/B6 prayers! Jim
  13. Hi Colin Just went to order a couple of the Mustang Mk IV conversion sets and I can't find them on ypur site Would that mean they're out of stock? Any idea when there'll be more in? Many thanks Jim
  14. Hi Spence Only just noticed the latest on this thread so have just Paypalled you Glad to hear it's all gone so well! Cheers Jim
  15. Hi Spence To be posted - one copy please. PM on it's way! Cheers Jim
  16. Just been round to the g/f's house near Bognor to check on how the renovation's going after the flooding. Hearing some engines I recognise I head towards the window calling out 'Lancaster! Lancaster!' Indeed it was, accompanied by Spitfire and Huricane. Ahhhh, 6 Merlins! (Or was it 5 Merlins and 1 Griffon? ) I assume they were heading from Bournemouth to Shoreham, both having their airshows today. A short while later, about to leave the house and there's that engine sound again. I dash out the front door, look out along the close and there, almost filling the sky, was the Lanc. It was soooo low, the underside detail was so clear! The Hurricane was slightly behind and to one side, and ohhhhhh, the sound! GF comes rushing out saying "what was that, the house was shaking!" I couldn't reply for a short while, a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye - I don't know how many times I've seen the BBMF, and it always gives a shiver down the spine - but this time it made me rather emotional. I think it was being so low and feeling the engines. I want to dash home and start one! Jimbo PS Just done some quick sums when I got back, and based on the size it seemed in the sky, I work out it was about 600 feet
  17. LOL! Love the dinosaur and naoughts and crosses - brilliant! Kit looks great. I'm off to The Works tomorrow morning! Jimbo (who's just returned from Sunday lunch at the pub which may explain a lot!)
  18. I'm not getting you down, am I?

  19. Ooooo, there's a thought! Now then, what scale's this Enterprise . . . Hmmm, the instructions say the real one (ha! real one! ) is 288.6 m long, so . . . (back when I've measure my Enterprise LOL) Jimbo
  20. Hi all! Here's a first for me - a Star Trek kit, so apologies for any of you 'into' ST for any (and I'm sure there's many!) errors with this! It's for my girlfriend's next door neighbour (well, he was at the time - explanation to follow) who's girlfriend got it for his birthday, not realising it was a kit (did ebay not mention it?! ) And so back in February I said 'yes, sure I'll build it!' Hey, I thought, making a model that I didn't even have to buy! So I browsed the interweb, and found a couple of good sites with screen caps from The Original Series, both model shots and the remastered CGI versions. I even watched some episodes on TV! I then tried to work out a construction sequence - it needed something a bit different to the aircraft and cars I usually build. For example, all the little clusters of windows would have to go in before painting (I couldn't face trying to mask them all!) but it would have to be assembled and gaps filled before painting (obviously) but then I couldn't get the window in! Hmmm . . . So in the end I did both. The clear bits I could get to were left out, but some (around the edges of the saucer, which I understand is the Primary Hull ) were put in after painting around the apertures and then masked out. It worked fairly well, apart from some windows in the lower (secondary?) hull which were a b****r to get in! After all the time I wasted planning the sequence, it was just about ready in time for his birthday - Thursday 14th July. Plan was to take it to my gf's on the Tuesday. But then on the Monday it rained . . . and rained . . . and my girlfriend, together with about 25 of her neighbours were flooded out. Everyone is in temp accomodation of various kinds, and understandably the chap the kit is for wasn't in a birthdayey sort of mood. It did give me a bit longer to get the vaious bits together, and possibly tart up a few bits I feel I could've done better. Given that everyone might be out their houses for up to 6 months, this might become a Christmas present . . . Anyhow, on with a couple of pics! This one I thought of putting in 'What's flying over your house'! Jimbo Returning to Earthbound subjects! BEAM ME UP!
  21. Here's a pic of ZF269 arriving at the RIAT 2012 media launch today - pretty scheme! Must keep an eye open for one of the kits! Jimbo
  22. Well, after a successful shopping trip, we have: Oooo, where did that bottle come from Think I'm now fully equipped to begin . . . oh, hold on. Is there any etch etc available . . . Jim
  23. Just off out shopping to get the correct biscuitage for my Spitfire. Can you confirm that it is DARK chocolate that is applicable to the MK II? I'd hate to make another faux-pas Is there anything I should look out for in the build of the kit? It does look a lovely kit, just hope I can do it justice. Jim (about to wander round Asda biscuit aisle with a BS deck in hand )
