  2. Hi Ali

Thought I'd let you know I have just received my order, from almost one end of the UK to the other!

Mananged to have a quick look (between household tasks, lol!) and the casting looks superb! I can't believe how clear the clear parts are! Going to have to up my game on cockpit interiors now 🙂

Thank you for the extremely fast production and despatch - very impressed and happy 🙂

Now to find time for some modelling . . .

    Best wishes

  3. Just heard the sound of a fast jet, out to the garden pronto! Could hear it out to sea (we're just along from Bognor, about 1/2 mile from the sea but with houses in between. Then heard more jet noise but couldn't see anything. A look on ADS-B Exchabge showed an F-15E Dark21 with two smaller non identified aircraft, callsigns Dark23 and 24. All headed east a mile or so off the coast at 900ft. Check shortly after and the F-15  disappeared from ADS-B exchange, Dark23 and 24 continued round the coast and currently showing heading west towards Maidstne. F-15 showing agsin!

Typical though, a fast jet down here and it's too low to see!

. . . and if I can get some 4 blade props a PRU Blue one with hook fitted,..... based at Ford but wearing GP (Gosport) codes!

Ooo, that sounds a great one! Being from 'dah sarf' Daedalus was my 'local' base (many a fond memory of climbing over Wesseses (Wessi?) at their Air Days, as well as working there just before it's closure. And Ford is just along the road from my other half. One of my (many!) projected themes is aircraft from either base, so hope you can get some 4 blader props - love to see it!

  5. Hi

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments on this.

I did think it rather unlikely that if there had been two different shapes that it hadn't come up before and I was the first to notice, lol🙂 As Finn says, the lighting conditions differ, the shadows playing quite a part in how the intake looks. It is quite a complex shape round there - I'd seen how @72nd SQN had opened them up a bit, a route I'll definitely follow.

Off to look at my Airfix Mossie - from different angles 🙂

    Thank you all again

    Best wishes

  6. Hi all

I've been looking through photos online of Mosquitos (mainly B XVI) as inspiration to start the new Airfix kit (as if I need any more inspiration than the excellent Freightdog resin sets I've just received!).

Looking at pics on World War Photos (https://www.worldwarphotos.info/) I'm really surprised how much the intercooler intake shape seems to change according to the viewing angle.

    https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/uk/raf/mosquito2/mosquito-xvi-cookie/

The pic above seems to have thicker 'lips' as opposed to:

I keep flicking through various pictures tryng to find two taken from the same angle. I take it that is IS just a question of angle/perspective,and there weren't two different shapes?

Apologies if this is a silly question, but I think I'm starting to go cross eyed!

    Many thanks

  7. Really sad to hear the news of Paul shutting up shop. I was a very frequent visitor when he was in Waterlooville but for various reasons rarely got down to Portsmouth. Paul was always friendly and helpful, putting new arrivals to one side if it was something I was after etc.

Anyone who pops in before he goes please wish him well from an original Waterlooville customer.

  8. Hi Jamie

Apologies, I saw PDH's reply before I noticed your earlier reply - not having a goo day! Lol!

I can totally understand about not ordering stuff just to sit on shelves. If there does turn out to be one that's not taken, any chance you could drop me a line please?

    Many thanks

  9. Hi Jamie

    Me again!

After a bit of trauma here I suddenly remembered I needed to pre-order the Pontos set, but I can't find any trace of it on your site. Have I been too slow or am I not searching properly? Hope it's still going to be available.

    Many thanks

    Jim

  10. Good morning Jamie

Many thanks for the info - the 'relaxed timescale' is great news (for me) 🙂 Gives me time to sort things then place a pre-order (hopefully in a week or so).

Also gives me time to start clearing the bench of the part done projects!

    Thank you again

  11. Hi Jamie

Having recently bought the Revell 1/144 Snowberry and trying to decide what option to go for with regards to upgrade parts I suddenly found you were stocking the Pontos sets (I'd been looking at the Snowberry set but am never happy buying from abroad 😞 ).

I see they're marked as 'Pre order' and I was wondering what kind of timescale it's likely to be. I'm in no rush for it - the stash keeps me going! -  but at the moment I'm 'juggling funds' and would like to hold off ordering for a short while if possible. But I'm concerned at missing the boat (literally!) in case you were going to bring in sets dependent on demand.

    Finger crossed!

    Many thanks, and best wishes

  13. Hi Mike

    Brilliant, thank you 👍

I thought it looked a bit big, sorry about that 😥 I'm just starting to get back into things and having to try to remember how to post - but got the size a bit wrong!

Won't happen again sir, honest! 🤗

  14. Hi all

In an attempt to get back to actually building models (as opposed to just buying and planning them!) I decided to have a go at some military vehicles, the reason being that as a mainly aircraft modeller, I know next to nothing about this subject and so wouldn't get bogged down in highly accurate colours etc.. Just an OOB build. That was the plan; however . . . 🙂

After being unable to find the Airfix Bedford QLT & Bedford QLD Trucks in the stash (or what used to be the garage - sometimes I wonder why I have a database of kits, they're never where they're meant to be) I decided on the old Airfix refueling kit. Aware of the problems with the QL (small wheels, booms not applicable to wartime vehicles) I made a start on the AEC. I also discovered I had the D-Day Assault set and so the vehicles from that (Tilly and Bedford MWC) were added to the workbench.

I then started looking at what colours they should be . . . and suddenly I was in drawn in to accuracy again! Thanks to the excellent research of Mike Starmer (

    https://www.mafva.org/british-vehicle-camouflage-1939-45/

) I know the timeline for the various colours and schemes, as well as mixes for the colours.

I'd like to have the vehicles in a 1940 scheme, which is given as khaki green G3 with a 'disrupter' of Dark Green No.4. It's described as being bold horizontal/diagonal patterns of the two colours.

However, I seem to be unable to find any pictures/drawings online showing the scheme. I've found what I assume to be the later schemes with upper surfaces in a dark colour, and the 'Mickey Mouse' scheme, but nothing with a horizontal/diagonal pattern. Mention is made of MTP20 but I've had no luck with this either, other than mentions of it.

Would someone be able to point me in the right direction as to what pattern I should use?  I'd love to be able to be as accurate as possible, having gone from  'whatever the instructions say' to 'oh no, I must get it right' !

    Any guidance gratefully received 🙂

    Many thanks

    Jim5
