  1. Thanks again gents for your really kind comments, and apologies for my ridiculously slow replies, sadly I cannot post on the forum on my mobile the formatting just won't allow it! As for the Fighting Cock decals they were from Uprise Decals, a gent based in Russia. Sadly I don't think getting stuff from him is going to be easy for the forseeable future. A shame as he was spot on to deal with and they're excellent quality. I'd been looking for this scheme for years, so I was very excited to finally build it.
  2. Thanks again gents! I have a real soft spot for a Jag, probably due to a week at Coltishall as a young cadet! A twin stick is certainly on the agenda, I have the Neomega conversion but not got round to it yet.
  3. Thanks again gents! Not a project I'd repeat for every build, but it was enjoyable as something different!
  4. I love this! Brilliant attention to detail and the sense of movement is just perfect. Top skills!
  5. Thanks gents! The lighting kit was excellent, really logical instructions and well laid out. The rear strobe was a little tricky as fit of the donor kit in that area wasn't great but all came together. Power supply was my big conundrum, I don't have the knowledge for wireless charging etc and I didn't want the model tethered permanently to a base. The solution I came up with was I drilled out the undercarriage legs and soldered the positive and negative feeds to a bit of brass tube and fitted them in each mainwheel. Power supply comes from a battery pack underneath the base with two prongs that the model sits on. I wired in a rocker switch that powers it into the side of the base. Low tech, but it does what I need it to and changing the batteries is easy!
  6. Thank you! The decals are EuroDecal (Fantasy Printshop). The instructions aren't great but the decals themselves are excellent quality.
  7. Thanks very much! The tool really needs a bit of extra work, the undercarriage especially desperately needs brake lines but shape wise it looks the part. I have another couple to do, but I need a break first!
  8. Thank you very much gents! Got another in the works, a GR1 this time!
  9. I'm not a big fan of the Kittyhawk kit so this was my best option, the Airfix kit with some aftermarket and a bit of scratchbuilding. Especially with the intakes replaced though it still builds into a decent rendition IMG_9701 by Craig Scott, on Flickr IMG_9685 by Craig Scott, on Flickr IMG_9682 by Craig Scott, on Flickr
  10. This one was a bit of an experience, the first time I've ever done anything like this. The Revell kit with the lighting kit from Tyridium Models. A really enjoyable project! IMG_3847 by Craig Scott, on Flickr IMG_3843 by Craig Scott, on Flickr IMG_3819 by Craig Scott, on Flickr
  11. Afternoon all, I've had a bit of a hiatus from this forum in recent times, but I've still been plodding on! I thought it was time I shared some of what I've been up to, and Tornados have featured prominently. I hope you enjoy them! 12. Thanks for the comments gents, very much appreciated! To deal with the questions: Avro683-Decals are Model Alliance, on one of their RAF update sheets (RAF 2006 part 2 I think) Ed-This one is a real challenge, as has been said expect a lot of cutting and filling to get this right. Judicious use of wire and the Eduard detail set can make a passable (but not perfect cockpit) as the kit's is a GR4, but that's just where the problems begin. The upper to lower fuselage fit is dreadful, needing sturdy locating tabs glueing to the fuselage inside to "bend" it into shape, and the air intake bleed vents are FAR too tall, took somewhere in the region of a mm off them to get them to fit, and even then the fit to the fuselage was ropey. If you tackle this you WILL spend many hours with a razor saw, file, sandpaper and filler. Depends how much you want one really, if I can help you with anything (pics, ideas, advice, whatever) drop me a PM and I'll do what I can
  13. Well, 4 months work for the GB over on UKAR, missed the deadline, but she's done! All the comments about the kit are absolutely true, she's a pig, but hope I've managed to cobble together something that looks alright. Comments and criticism very much welcome
  14. Dave-The Sky Shadow and BOZ pod are still carried as operational fit on the GR4, though some aircraft on training sorties carry a second dummy BOZ pod in place of the Sky Shadow. Not sure about aftermarket weapons, though think Flightpath do some quite good LGBs? May be wrong there though... As for the markings, there is an Op Telic sheet available, but I don't know about just odd ones. Don't think it's that expensive for the sheets (they're only different serials/art etc anyway), so they may be suitable?
  15. As I understand it Napalm is up there with cluster bombs as a prohibited weapon these days? As has been said previously the RAF have not had them for some time, I'm sure that that is the reason why...
  16. The Airfix F3 is awful (I'm building one at present-it really is as bad as people say) but with the exception of the Italieri one which generally commands a king's ransom on eBay, it's the only game in town. It will hack into something half decent, but if you want an F3 in 1:48 be prepared for a LOT of work! The Airfix GR4/GR4A/GR1 (they've released two boxings covering all three) isn't superb, but it is MUCH better than the F3 and a bit of patience and experience and there's nothing there really that will tax you too much. I believe it has the updated frets too, so you can do a modern bird without too much effort. I think it's Italieri who do a GR1, and Flightpath who do a conversion to GR4 (there's a bit more than just the extra chin pod-you'll need to fill the port gun for one thing, something that isn't necessary with the Airfix kit), this will be a better option quality wise, but it will cost you more, so bit of a pays your money and takes your choice scenario there. Myself I went with the Airfix kit and build it OOB some years ago, and t was OK, but whichever kit/variant you go for metal undercarriage replacements are pretty much a must, the kit parts just aren't strong enough and the wheels bow inwards.
  17. Thanks mate, but the equipment is totally different on a GR4, the rear cockpit is also. Cheers anyway though!
  18. Cheers mate, they look rather nicely rendered! A lot of work to complete the job though I'd guess... You attempting this scheme yourself?
  19. That first link is useful Spike, should be able to work from that! Many thanks!
  20. Thanks for those Spike, had had a look through that thread, but still doesn't show what I'm after which is the back of the centre console and the area behind the pilot's seat. Tornado's shot is excellent for the port side, but still looking for a similar shot of the starboard, or even better a shot taken behind the pilot's seat
  21. Cheers mate, that's superb! I'd already looked through the GB threads but there wasn't anything clear enough sadly. That one is the business though! Does anyone have a similar shot from the other side, or one showing the pilot's seat in position?
  22. Hi folks, I'm looking for some close up shots of the "island" between the seats on an F3, especially the area behind the pilots seat, does anyone have anything? Tornado64 looked to have posted a decent one on the GB thread, but the image was too small to be able to help much, does anyone have anything? Any help much appreciated!
  23. Cracking job, that looks superb that does! Just got to find somewhere to display it now!
