  1. It's not mentioned in the review, but he states it over on Hyperscale: he bought four kits (from two different sources) and says they're all the same. FWIW. Jon
  2. I really wanted to buy one of these, but the need for replacement rotor blades is putting me off. KH did not mould the correct blades for the N: Jon
  3. Thanks everyone! Now to finish GWH's T-33....not in foil! Jon
  4. Thanks everyone This is Bare Metal Foil Chrome. Some of it is their old stuff, and some their 'new improved'. The latter is less shiny and has more of a texture, but is thicker and easier to apply. I have used kitchen foil before: Cheers Jon
  5. Yes, very much. I'm now starting GWH's T-33A and will be using your decals for that too Jon
  6. Here's my latest built: Kitty Hawk's 1/48 Lockheed F-94C Starfire in Caracal decals. The finish is Bare Metal Foil and Mr Color paint. The nose and wingtip tanks are Uschi van der Rosten polishing powder over Mr Color gloss black. It's my second attempt at foiling, and better than the first, but still means a lot of compromises. An extensive build article detailing the kit and my faults is here: https://jonbryon.com/kitty-hawk-1-48-lockheed-f-94c-starfire/ Comments welcome. Thanks for looking Jon
  7. I hope so too...but I'm holding off from buying this version in the hope they will release the regular bomber. Jon
  8. That's amazing! I spent several hours on Google and did not come across that. Must remember to try Bing as well next time. Much appreciated! Jon
  9. Great to see one of these finished in such striking markings. I am about to start the same kit in the same decals at the end of the month. I have not managed to track down a photo yet - do you happen to recall where you found the photo online? Many thanks for any help! Jon

  11. I don't know why they don't make them with a square section beam to prevent twisting. I too rarely use them because they fall off so easily. Jon
  12. Thanks. Here are some photos of the real thing:
  13. Here's my latest build: Monogram's 1/48 Lockheed F-80C Shooting Star. The kit has been rescribed and is covered in kitchen foil. Some markings are from Microscale and some have been created using stencils cut on my Silhouette Portrait. There's a full and extensive write up here: https://jonbryon.com/monogram-1-48-lockheed-f-80c-shooting-star/ It looks okay from more than a foot away, but very ugly close up. Still, it was an experiment, and one I shall not repeat but was glad to undertake. Jon
  14. I just wish that in 1/48 they'd expanded their F-8 range to include the early and recon versions. Come to think of it, given Hobby Boss' failure, I wish they'd done some early A-7s too... Jon
  15. Am I right in thinking the last post-WW2 aircraft Hasegawa tooled in 1/48 was the F-22? If so, it's been 10 years... Jon
  16. Sorry to jump in on this thread, but I'm thinking of getting a Portrait 2. Where do you get sheets of masking material? I'm in the UK. Thanks for any advice! Jon
  17. Hmmm...wonder when this will see the light of day. The MiG-9 has been in the CAD stage for ages, and is still not released... Jon
  18. https://jonbryon.com/2018/06/19/on-increasing-productivity/ Thanks 👍 Jon
  19. On the stance: maybe; I haven't compared with the real thing. As for obstacles, there were a few, which I have outlined in my article. Cheers Jon
  20. Thanks Unfortunately there are no photos of the cockpit possible - the canopy is too small. There are plenty of photos of the underside at my website Cheers Jon
  21. Hello all, This is my first kit of 2019 and plugs a gap in my series of MiG jets. It's ICM's 1/48 MiG-25PDS in kit decals and with Cold War Studios resin ventral fins. The paint is a mixture of MRP and Akan finished with Gunze GX113 matt coat. It was a a fun kit, although not without it's problems. It's also huge! Many more photos and words on my website: https://jonbryon.com/icm-1-48-mikoyan-gurevich-mig-25pds-foxbat-e/ Comments welcome and thanks for looking. Jon
  22. Thanks everyone for the comments Yep, they became F-40E/K/M/N as you can see from the tail codes According to the book 'Curtiss P-40 in Brasil' this happened in 1952. Jon
  23. Here is my latest and final build for 2018: Hasegawa's 1/48 F-40E Warhawk in Brazilian markings from 1953. The decals are by FCM and are absolutely terrible. The paint is Mr Color 8 Silver. A full build article is at https://jonbryon.com/hasegawa-1-48-curtiss-f-40e-warhawk/. I am aware the area behind the rear canopy should probably be silver. Comments welcome and thanks for looking. Jon
