  1. Thanks, can I still move the decals around a bit on the wet future? I'm not too good at setting them down just right Bill
  2. Got a strange problem, I got the Roden Brittania built no issues, painted in Tamiya rattlecan white and silver, and future coated. A combo I have used before just fine. However the Roden decals wont stick to it, I put them on with my usual Microset Microsol routine but they just flake off. I got a spare set of decals but reluctant to use them before I figure out what went wrong. Anybody help? Thanks Bill
  3. I started off last year to do a 'British Airliners' build in 144 scale. Doing ok so far but it seems that some of the smaller interesting types would be easier to do in 72 scale, availability of kits and decals. I am kind of reluctant to do this as part of the process is to see how the different airliners look like next to each other, like how small a Comet is compared to a 707. Anyone building in mixed scale and how do you display them, in separate cases or whatever?
  4. There was a bit of whinging going on over on Hyperscale of the usual 'nose looks off to me' type
  5. Thanks Jessica I been looking for Aeroclub how do I contact John?
  6. Lots of interesting stuff there thanks. Reason why I asked was I got a long term build going of 144 Imperial/BOAC/BEA/BA airliners. I got most of the big stuff either built or good to go (with a gap in the 1930s due to lack of kits). However it occurred to me there were some oddballs, mostly at the smaller end. Don't know if its practicable to do any of the real small stuff in 144, like a 144 Rapide though if I can find one. Bill
  7. I got this 144 British airliner build going on. got the Roden VC10 nearly done and the Airfix 707 in progress. Also got the Welsh DH Heron in limbo, was surprised how small it looks in comparison. So just wondering what was the smallest airplane to wear BEA/BOAC/BA colors? And are there a kit and decals for it out there? Bill
  8. You cant frighten me I built a Merlin TSR2. The resin is quite hard and brittle so at least the breaks are clean and no deformation of parts. I did a quick jigsaw puzzle no glue and it looks fixable. No surface detail on the lit to worry about anyway. Bill
  9. Well all may not be completely lost, I found all the bits, wings are broken off and in two pieces each and the fuselage is broken through at the bottom but I got all the bits and milliput and superglue. Going to try stuffing the big hole down the fuselage with milliput and drilling it 6mm as far back as I dare. Then I can dremel out the front fuselage somewhat and I got some bar solder which looks like a good bet for weight. Might yet get built, but not this week Bill
  10. Well Ok not to worry just had a fatal accident to the build, the instructions suggest a hole up the forward fuselage to add weight, so I got the main airframe bits assembled, drilled a 5mm hole all the way up to the wings, filled it with lead shot, tail sitter..open up to 6mm same, 7mm same, in the process of drilling the hole out to 8mm the drill broke through the fuselage wall horrible mess. Off to build something else.
  11. Looking for topside/bottomside images of the above. I got the Welsh Models kit which is good for side views but not sure of the red wing area especially if it carries over the lower fuselage Anybody help? Thanks Bill
  12. Thanks, two bits of black decal will do it then. Now to sort out the anti collision lights, one on the fuselage top forward of the wing l/e, got that, presume there is one underneath as well but have not spotted it yet on pictures.
  13. What are the two dark rectangles on the upper fuselage centerline just forward of the wing leading edge? Vents, antennae or whatever? Just doing the details of the Roden build. Thanks Bill
  14. Thanks for the pics they also answered my other question about the u/c doors. I don't recall if the kit had the doors originally, its been a while since I started it and all I got left is the basic airframe and the decals, the rest is going to have to be scratched
  15. Back into modelling after a long break and resurrecting some projects, one of them the F rsn DH91. I got the basic paint done but wondering about the wheel well color? Wood, primer, whatever? Anybody please help?
  16. Did my radiator inserts yesterday no problems. Grab the narrow part with tweezers, put a little Tamiya extra thin on the mating surface, put it through the front of the nacelle, rotate, pull forward til it seats. Wait a few seconds for the glue to grab then do the other one
