  1. According to the Valiant Wings book the lights were red (port) and green (starboard) and were ONLY fitted to late production machines such as MN235, currently resident in Canada.
  2. When I looked last night the helicopter sets were gone.
  3. The picture I found is actually of a Tempest wing. Please accept my apologies.
  4. After much searching in the marsh I've found a colour photo on fantasyofflight.com which shows the wing tank is definitely silver. There is also a very good view of the undercarriage bay in the same pic.
  5. Great set of pics. I was there too but facing the wrong way to view the flight line properly. I did manage to take some pics though, will post some of the most decent ones either tomorrow or Tuesday. It was truly an amazing experience, eight Merlins in tune is a memorable sound!
  6. Somebody complained of Airfix lack of output recently. With these Gnats that's seven kits new to the market issued recently i'd like to buy multiples of.
  7. I have 6 of them. Yes, instructions of the earlier issues would have you fit the rear turret mountings wrongly (back to front, not upside down) and the engine nacelles require work but I still rate the kit and the rear turret error has been corrected in the most recent issue. The Eduard interior set enhances the cockpit immensely and I consider it good value.
  8. Not sure who the importer is but there is a direct contact link on their website. HTH.
  9. It is for that very reason that have decided to wait before I order a replacement.
  10. That's what I'm following. Over Aviemore now. What a view they must have!
  11. Approaching the Hebrides as I type.
  12. Didn't the pilot of the Tiffie sit on his 'chute, as in the Lancaster and a number of other aircraft. I think that the "cushion" could well be the parachute pack; the instructions suggest only fitting it if you choose to install the pilot figure and omitting it if not.
  13. Same kit with different markings by the looks of it.
  14. Go for it! As has been said elsewhere Airfix have stated that they are going to continue with 1/24 scale as there are already a good number of manufacturers producing kits in 1/32 and feel that as a company they have a niche market (save for Trumpeter) and their big scale kits DO sell.
  15. The Airfix instructions would have you paint most of the framework aluminum but some of it semi-gloss black. Unfortunately the only surviving airframe is now in Canada which is a long way to go for most of us just to look at a cockpit!
  16. No you're not, I've still got some kits with slips in them!
  17. I may be the lucky one Dave, mine is crack free and as clear as IM transparencies could be.
  18. Great review as usual Mike. Airfix have included cockpit placards themselves this time, it would be interesting to see how they stand up to the Airscale ones.
  19. Just been through mine, there are three spinners on sprue G. I wonder what Airfix have up their sleeves?
  20. Strangely that's something Airfix have never included. Personally I feel that in a kit this complex it would be more than useful.
  21. My LMS got their stock this morning. They have 1 fewer now :-D.
  22. That's one of the "joys" of building limited run kits. I must admit though that I'm sure the fit of the canopy on mine was better than that.
