That's import VAT, not goods VAT, the rates are very different.

It's in with this month's AMW mag.

1/48 - Folland Gnat T.Mk.1 by Airfix - released
avro683 replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
I suppose it ought to be me. -
I'm sure I read something about that as well, possibly in one of Martin W Bowman's books.
-
I read that Airfix say they're hoping for November release but for which version I'm not certain.

Howard, please can you pass on my (and my cohort Steve) grateful thanks to all concerned for a superb display put together by the museum staff and talk given by Damien Burke. We really enjoyed the day, well worth getting up at the crack of dawn for!

The kit itself seems to have vanished........

Latest is weather still pants in Iceland so no further progress as yet. Stops in Greenland and Newfoundland still planned.

Roll on Saturday!

That's excellent, would look great next to a TSR2!
-
Reciprocal journey I suspect. I wonder if a stop in Greenland is on this time.

Another 1/24 Airfix Typhoon; Really? I'm Back!

Great work George but I think the leading edge blanks (where the landing lights go in later models) should be fitted before the upper wing halves are attached. It can still be done hopefully, I'm enjoying your build by the way. -
Hi Matt. In answer to some of your questions: 1. Scale Aircraft Conversions do a metal replacement gear for the Revell kit. 2. Tamiya NATO Black is perfect for the undersurfaces. They have also produced a new green (XF81 I think) which is a good match for RAF green. The brown, however, is a different matter. Gunze do a good match but the Tamiya one is a bit off. I'll leave the exhaust bit to someone who can explain it better.

I thought she was due to retire in 2015. Read it somewhere but can't remember where.

That's a very impressive collection got together in such a short time. We'll be banging on the door at 10 o'clock!

I have one of these so will be interested in how things progress. I must admit I'm not looking forward to separating the vac parts from the sheet.

Shame the picture is not accessible, it could have proved quite useful. -
Hope you get it sorted Gordon. I get it on quarterly DD which guarantees delivery and saves a packet on RRP. Might be worth considering in the future.

Thanks Peter, that fits in nicely with the info in the Valiant Wings book, which tells you what colour they should be but not what they are for! Would It be reasonable to assume that they should be fitted to options B, C and D but not A which is an early airframe? -

I think the instructions are wrong BB...... and I've still to find any photos of Typhoon cockpit framework painted in anything other than aluminum. -

George, I've just had another look at your original post re the red light and I'm 99% certain that the instructions tell you to drill out the circular hole so these can be seen from below. Red for port, green for starboard, not both red. For those who have the book, the pic I'm referring to is on page 109 and the text definitely states red and green. -

I'll check my book again George. I thought the lights you were referring to could be seen from below the wings but I'll have another look. -

I'm not sure about that as one should be red (port) and the other green (starboard) similarly to the wing tip lights. Info from the Hawker Typhoon Valiant Wings book, as per my post above.
