Didn't Laker own BUA before he set up Laker Airways? I admit it's a bit of a stretch but...

I was at Heathrow,on the sadly gone Queens Building roof, when one landed in the late 1960's. I picked it up on the viewfinder when it was on finals and was amazed when it taxied in and parked right in front of us.

There's also Gunze Sangyo. Their paints are acrylic but have a satin finish to them. I also use all of the above and Revell Aqua which I find are very good which can be thinned with water, unlike Tamiya and Gunze which are best thinned with their own thinners.

The now defunct(sadly) Aviation Workshop had to label their decal sheets "UK Air Arm" for similar reasons. They were permitted to call all the other nation's air forces by their recognized titles but not our own!

I got one yesterday from the Peterborough show along with the Xtradecal sheet as a deal. Having read this thread I can't decide whether I should have or not. -
I see the Ar196 has recently been reissued, but as a B this time with the single float giving it the appearance similar to the Vought Kingfisher.kudos to Revell for this,I hope that it sells really well and they bring out a Kingfisher to go with it.

The Revell Germany site I find is not too bad and they have a download facility for kit instructions, something which Airfix don't.

There's something British Airways about it.

That's right, October 1965 trying to land at LHR very late at night in fog having flown from Edinburgh. The pilot made at least one abortive attempt but overshot. There were no survivors.
-
I believe so. Paul Parkes on this site has produced a sheet of blue serials the correct colour.

The Vanguard is now due 8/5/15 according to the Airfix website. Shame.
-
The same blue as that used for the red, white and blue national markings on RAF aircraft.

I can understand both sides of the window debate. I must admit though that I do prefer the Airfix method as I feel that decalled windows result in a toy like appearance rather than a model. Increasingly, Airfix seem to be deleting the window transparencies (save the cockpit one) but retaining the punch. The Classic Airliner Comet kit even included a tube of Clearfix to fill in the punched apertures, meaning that the fuselage can be constructed, sanded and painted before applying the cheatline transfer.

So did EA, EB and EC Steve. Pics on a well-known website.

What would be your 'Dream' CAR OR BIKE kit'?
avro683 replied to roymattblack's topic in Vehicle Discussion
I'd love to see one of those in the fast lane of the M1! Sorry for my cheek but the thread title is car or bike. -
I also used to have terrible problems with Tamiya decals but I read somewhere, possibly on this site, that using warmer water (not hot) helps. I tried it and so far have had no problems since. Works with Hasegawa decals too.

That brings back so many memories Ratch as my father was in the industry, though not with ESSO. Excellent work sir.
-
That's a good tip Gary as I predominantly use Tamiya paint. Would that work with their own thinners?
-
The Vanguard is also late, it should have been available on the first. I wonder if they're on the same ship.
-
Sorry to say Graham but in this case improvements are essential. For starters, the instrument panel and rudder pedals are moulded as a single flat part and it goes downhill from there.

You might be able to buy the extra sprue which contains all the parts you list, The Hobby Company are Tamiya's current importer. When you build the rear turret, turn the mounting brackets round, the instructions have them the wrong way.

Those markings are not an option on the Airfix sheet. Lovely model, beautifully finished, by the way -
Help with Javelin Mk9 to Mk 7 1/48 Conversion
avro683 replied to Andy341's topic in Aircraft Cold War
The fin flashes included in all the Alley Cat sets may correct this. I'll have a look and measure them up. -
I'm actually pleased cos I like the C, should it be released it'll sit nicely with my Revell E.
