My sources were actually print, not the web and my comment about the link was in reference to the Hurricane build mentioned in the first post of that thread, P2829 which was built in the same production batch as P3061, NOT the Finnish Hurricane.
-
At current rates that price works out at about £110. Very good value if it's even close.
-
Hobbycraft sell Berna clamps. Very useful but they MUST be lined up otherwise they'll fly all over the place!

Sorry Tony, my post went on twice by accident. Prior to building my Trumpeter 1/24 Hurricane Mk1, I spent a lot of time researching the original, hence I discovered the only original interior known to exist in the Hendon Hurri which survived the BoB.
No problem,it happens to us all at some point. Hurricanes and Spitfires are a nightmare as there is no definitive guide to follow. I recently read that there was a block of 500 Hurricanes, Gloster built, some had Merlin lll engines fitted, others different, some with a Rotol propeller and some deHavilland but it's pure guesswork as to which was fitted with what. The same thing applies to interior colour schemes.

I thought I'd bump this thread up a bit for those of us building the new Airfix (and any other) Hurricane. There's some really useful pictures. Hope that's ok.

Thanks for the link Trevor, it'll help me out no end as I plan on building mine (P3061) from the same production batch.

Do Airfix actually advise to paint the seat and cockpit framework on which it's mounted silver? The only Hurricane Mk1 in preservation that I know of that has a cockpit in it's original WW2 condition is the Mk1 in Hendon, and the searched frame are painted interior green.
They do, see my comment above in reply to your question placed this afternoon.
-
They do. Some Hurricanes were painted in interior grey-green but not all. It's the same with Spitfires.

I use Google Chrome but I still cannot get onto it! Unfortunately I don`t know what an ISP is,.......does it fit onto a 1982 Ford Fiesta,
Cheers
Tony
Ah,...looked it up,.....ISP= Internet Service Provider,......unfortunately mine is Talk Talk.
Tried a few different search sites,.....still nothing!
Therein is your problem Tony.

Next Saturday's episode is entitled Cross Cut, then, on the 25th - Fireflash. Can't wait to see what they do with her this time.
-
Works fine for me too. At the moment.
-
For me I use either of the "SAM" saws. I get far less dust that way.

Thanks Tony, it's just that Humbrol 23 is listed as Duck Egg Blue (Airfix M8 in old money) and I was wondering if that could also be interpreted as British Sky Blue at all.
-
NeOmega do sets for both the Kitty Hawk and Airfix (now available again in a Revell box for those who don't know) in 48th and 72nd scales.
-
Tony, how close is the Aeromaster Finnish Blue to Humbrol 23? Tremendous work by the way, green with envy here.

When is it on ITV HD????
I'd prefer to catch it there.
Roy.
8am, Saturday Roy.
-
Well if anyone wants to catch the next episode then set Sky+, Humax or video recorders as it is scheduled for 8:00am on Saturday this week.
On ITVHD and at various times on CITV. There's nothing like covering your bases!

Airfix have been really clever as both the Hurricane and the Typhoon were designed by Hawker and both had tubular framework in their cockpits so it would,as far as I can imagine,be feasible that the more modern elements of the earlier aircraft be incorporated in the later one. It's just a shame that there's no throttle lever in the Hurricane.
-
I got one yesterday. Very impressed but it's a shame that the throttle lever and oxygen regulator, included in the Hasegawa kit and very obvious, have been missed out.

No more American than the original, that's the market it was made for.

Ok, so I watched this today and quite liked it, I know it's aimed at kids but I thought that they have done quite a decent remake with nice nods to the past.
Having said that there were a few changes that I didn't feel were necessary and can only assume is down to ITV being PC, yes, Brains has been given less of a stutter and also an asian accent? Now I seem to remember him being american in the original and having a distinct stutter. Also, why change Tintins name? And John used to have an american/texan accent if I remember correctly? There were other changes that I thought were a little strange like turning Virgil into 'Scott number 2' with a similar hairstyle and hair colouring (they had distinctly different looks in the original series).
Now I know that might seem like nitpicking but they've essentially kept everything else the same, I assume that it is most likely because they want to appeal to a wider audience that will watch todays version so some minor tweeks were required to widen the appeal, so I get the changes to brains and giving Tintin (Tanusha/Kayo) a bigger more active role.
But some of the other changes just made it difficult to distinguish between the brothers, particularly the first scene with the air balloon, when Virgil came out of the top of TB2 I thought it was Scott because it looked like him, I always thought the reason they had different hair colours and styles was so in a glance you could tell which one was which. They also took Lady Penelope's posh accent away and she now seems to be some 'celebrity'.
I'm sure it will do well, but I think the original is going to still be my favourite, it probably had a bearing on me getting into model making, I loved the worlds that Gerry Anderson created and I guess the modern generation is all about computers and being presented in a digital format is probably most appropriate.
I would also like to see the homage to Gerry Anderson continuing throughout with little bits here and there to keep it grounded in it's origins, maybe a spectrum patrol car or SPV parked up in the background somewhere, or TB1 flying past cloudbase? Or how about TB4 bumping into Stingray? All in all I like what I see and I can see a toy range coming out in the near future, not sure about models though, more likely a computer game!
Rich
Tin Tin's name was changed because the creators of Herge's adventures apparently own the name and prevented the new producers from using it. Ridiculous really.

The folding wings is quite clever really, it gets round the problem of the pods being too close together in the hangar, something never solved previously.
-
It was on ITV 3 on Thursday.
It's on iPlayer too....
Roy.
And ITV2 today. As you said it's on Itvplayer and is available to view until midnight on May 2.

Tony,Trevor and particularly Troy, I hope that you will also accept my apologies. The wording in some of my posts could and should have been clearer and in the future I will endeavour to make sure that it is so. My references are unfortunately the Mason book, albeit an updated print and I was unaware of the inaccuracies it contains. Thank you Troy for providing in particular the information regarding propellers fitted, you have said on one sentence more than I spent hours trying to find in that book without success. I completely agree the Hurricane suffers somewhat unfairly in the shadows of Spitfire, which is a great shame.
