  1. I built the AZ AZ Hampden about a year ago. Scratch built an interior ... don't bother you can't see it. The lack of locating pins wasn't a problem. The AZ canopies are far from trouble free - I hate to think what the Valom ones were like, but it all turned out nicely in the end.
  2. Thanks Bill, yes it was your one and a thorough read through has been a great help. Re the wall, I had come to the same conclusion in placing it but it was good to see it done. Haven't tried splitter plates yet but I have put some spreaders in the fuselage half and shimed the front lower joint. The arrestor hook well was a complete mess - so all AZ standard features for this kit! Andy
  3. I've got off to a bad start with my AZ Attacker! The cockpit area has a piece to glue in that provides part of the cockpit wall and stops a 'see through' look down the intake. The resin cockpit tub then glues in. I can't seem to get the position of the plastic wall piece. Has anyone gone through this and worked it out ... I'm sure I saw a build covering the point a few years ago and have searched for it with no success. Any help appreciated! Andy
  4. Thanks for your help
  5. Are there any aftermarket replacement tracks to suit the 1/35 Italeri Crusader available?
  6. Airfix it is then. Thank you all.
  7. What's the best Griffin engine Spitfire: late variant, bubble canopy, in terms of accuracy to go for in 1/72?
  8. Thanks. I'll mull over your spreadsheet... all I want really is an all white Vulcan with blue steel. You know how frustrating it is to find out you errors too late!
  9. I'm a bit surprised by Airfix's calling out of Humbrol Gunmetal as the general colour of internal surfaces of the newish F8 Meteor, these include the inside of the fuselage, air intakes, wing spars and wheel wells. I would have expected Aluminium for all these areas ... am I wrong?
  10. Adam, I am correct in thinking the full white finish with anti-flash painted marking aircraft also carried the blue steel aren't I? Is the configuration you give for XM603 correct for aircraft of this fit or must it be a top half camo for blue steel. I also have the kits world sheet ... so that's disappointing! But I also have a very old set of decals from the original Airfix release of the Vulcan (30 years ago?), if they are still useable would the be any good?
  11. I'm having a deal of trouble getting the rear axles , suspension and prop shaft to line up and assemble on my 232 ... is there an issue with this kit as I can't fathom what I'm doing wrong?
  12. Can anyone who couldn't see the images earlier see this one?
  13. Argg! ... said I struggled! Can anyone see them?
  14. Here are a couple of 109s I've made recently. The AZ 109G6-R2 and the Revell G10. Not sure about the RLM82 green on the G10 trouble is there were light and dark greens under that designation,. This is the MR Hobby H422, which I guess is the light. Can anyone point me to the dark version? Sorry about the mixed up order of the images, they are posted from Village Photos and I've not found the process of doing so particularly straight forward!
  15. Thanks, I'm away for a couple of weeks so no rush. Andy
  16. Cosford was very helpful. Its Hampden had the windows in the mid fuselage painted over although I was told the aircraft in Canada doesn't. Also confirmed that the windows are circular ... thought the ovals engraved on the AZ plastic looked a bit unlikely!
  17. Thanks good idea ... waiting for a reply.
  18. I notice there are a number of windows that can be seen on some but not all photos of Hampdens. 2 oval ones on the top part of the fuselage a bit forward of the df antenna and one each side(?) of the nose just back from the main area of glass. Were these introduced or deleted at some stage or are they always there and it's just missing them. The AZ kit has inscribed detail at each location so I'm wondering it I should open the up and fit some clear plastic in or not.
  19. Yes I agree re the rear spar. Is the cutaway you mention on-line?
  20. Thanks. The Nav also had a position below the sextant hatch he had to slide down behind the pilot and under 'his' floor to get to the nose position (bomb aimer/nav). I sinced found a photo of aircraft production assembly where you can see that the only part that carries through is the main spar itself which is boxed-in but the box has some sort of forwards extension ... I found one cutaway that indicates it also housed the autopilot.
  21. Can anyone tell me the position of the wing carry through box going across the Hampden fuselage, I.e. how far back from the back edge of the cockpit glazing did it start and how far aft it extended? Did the Nav stand in front of it or on top of it when getting to to top (roof) glass panel?
  22. Thanks for all the help folks, that will get things started!
