Are you familiar with these 🔽
cheers, Jan
Cheers Jan,
Only just today I ordered a new clear sprue from the Hobby Co so all is now well in Spadland. I should get it in a couple of days
Cheers

Lovely work on this beast of a kit Amos, attention to detail is superb and watching this build unfold
is a real masterclass in modelling mate

So the prop - I got the colour order wrong it should be blue tips white middle band and then red Doh!
I also trashed the front canopy as when removing the masks it showed some Mig Ammo ultra glue had crept under and along the join, I tried to remove the said clear part.... It shattered.
Anyway I've been working on the drop tanks whilst I seek a replacement canopy part.
Some weathering up on the tanks.

Anyone with a spare A-1 front canopy?
Did the big reveal on the masking on my canopy to find that glue has crept under the front edge, It was glued on with Mig Ammo Ultra glue
so I thought it would be easy enough to pop it off and clean up....... It didn't work and thus shattered. Spose the Mig Ammo Ultra glue does what it says
on the bottle.
Cheers

More progress, prop has been painted up with its unique blue tips, the eagle eyed will see a slight problem with it
I might fix later but its really done my head in so I might leave it - I don't think anyone will notice.
Gun Camera got some glass, just a dab of Micro Kristal Klear but I might add some UV glue as its not very shiny.
Decals on some of the weapons now, the SUU-14's are almost done but I have had a few issues with them, one just shattered upon hitting water??
Napalm bombs were fine, not major issues, anyway some pix for you.
Next up will be a satin varnish and then onto weathering it up so still time to balls everything up

Speaking of painting. WTF is going on with gloss paint
Has anyone found a reliable method of application that gets decent results cos I've painted a door frame 5 times just to get something vaguely acceptable.
It’s called “GSI” mate, expensive but worth it - Get Someone In 😉But we changed to Eggshell as gloss paint has also now gone all woke. What’s wrong with a few nasty chemicals eh 😗

Blimey, struggling to keep up with your modelling output 😮

Decals sealing in with some gloss varnish and the panel line washes complete, I used a mixture of washes
some AK and some Tamiya. A few more bits glued on so its getting close to weathering up now and those
all important exhaust stains. Going to play with washable agent to see if I can get it looking right.

Ahhhh, and I thought you just gone AWOL!
Looking good, nice selection of stores to hang underneath. Such attention to detail too, brilliant.
YGBSM its gona be another wingy-thing, your armour qual's will be out of date at this rate!
Ditto!
Must be the time of year, I'm middle of upstairs WC and kitchen. (No excuse of "waiting for paint to dry" as I can hop from one to t'uther).
Funnily enough the plea of wanting to play with boys doing Tiger things carries no weight.
Don’t panic mate, I shall be on the Armour builds soon, just getting up some mojo to restart the 436 build again and I’m finding building Vietnam USAF stuff just the thing.
Normal service shall resume (At some point) 🫡

Cracking work John, this was a potential next acquisition for myself, I might just have to grab a Eduard Mustang for the future 👍

Decal time, that is all the main airframe decals in place apart from the prop, these are still settling in with a good swamping
of Daco Strong solution. I'll leave them over night and then seal them in with some gloss in preparation for weathering.
I'll be adding a few more stencil decals from the spares collection as the Spad has a lot more than what you get from the AM set and Tamiya.

Not much done over the bank holiday as CnC Homefront called "Op Paint Staircase" - Scale A parade.
so modelling went for a burton I'm afraid
I have managed an hour tonight so a bit more work on the weapon fit.
More Napalm but a different delivery container - I'm in two minds on using these?
Brass pinned to the kit pylons and ready for primer.
Gun pod gets the basic paint. more work yet with weathering and so on. Need to find a few decals that might be suitable as Metallic details gives you none.

Weapons being readied, basic painting done on these Napalm and SUU-14 dispensers, a gloss varnish
and then decals. I'm still planning the load out but pretty certain it will be what's test fitted so far with possibly a BLU-27
or two?
SUU-14's were painted with MRP Duraluminium and Anodized Aluminium over a gloss black base.
Enjoy

Just got back from a week away in Croatia so not much done only a few bits so its not much of an update.
Nav light on the rear fuselage was knocked up from some clear sprue, a scribing template and a candle.
I picked a small teardrop shaped scribing template and heated up the sprue and stuffed it into the template.
Came out okay but it took two attempts as the first one became MIA due to the carpet monster.
Glued on with PVA glue.
SUU-14's were started, nice little units from Eduard. 2 parts resin and one PE part make up one unit. a fair few decals to add once painted.
I have made two and have two more to make up. pinned to the pylons with brass rod.
Enjoy

Eduard did a set for WW2 RAF uniforms in colour PE -1/48th scale, I have it somewhere in the stash but I do hold reservations on how
good it would actually be in application. I think its long been discontinued?
