  1. Haha. Well time of year. On the lemonades after a pretty heavy sesh! Cheers 👍
  2. Yep, I think maybe they are covering the 1.48, seems popular. I pretty happy with current offerings in 1.72 scale so well catered for. Thanks
  3. Merry Holidays! Sleep patterns are all over the place, never mind. That resin kit looks impressive, I’ve heard great things about the Ed. Would suggest planning the Ed, cleaning it, prime etc. Get in the zone with current project, then fresh for the Ed? Good luck anyway, exciting. Got my 1.72 Airfix Spit and 109E4 double, a fun project really. Washed it, and cheap rattle can of black primer has come out surprisingly well. I was worried I’d sprayed it too much, but left to air dry, looks good and no details obscured at all. First time I’ve tried a surface coat this way so should be interesting. Now the airbrush, still new at that, and bit daunting! Take care all.
  4. Yes, completely agree with what you say here. After thinking a bit, I think I’ll wait and see if someone releases a new Spit 1.72. Fingers crossed it’s Arma because their Hurricane kits just from various reviews and build videos look unbelievable. Even photo etching is included in the box, the decals are said to be very good. The Special Hobby BF 109E kit is on the desk, even looking through it, you can tell it’s going to be something special, the colour instruction booklet is impressive. I think I’ll sit tight on the Spitfire for now. And perhaps just over the holidays set up a card table in the lounge, be social and just go back to the innocent days of the starter set paints, a brush and so on. Be a fun project that I won’t have to concentrate too much on. Thanks mate.
  5. So, we have the Tamiya, or the Airfix. Seems strange that an aeroplane so adored by many has no recent Mk1 1.72 kits. I probably opt for the Tamiya as their BF109 G6 was a really good kit, in my opinion. I’m not going to lose sleep over a few scale inaccuracies. I just enjoy the build and as I said, the G6 was detailed enough for my skill levels. Edit. Ahhhg, this is frustrating. The reports on the Tamiya 1.72 Mk1 mention, ill fitting! Not something I’d expect from Tamiya? Reviews of various 1.72 newly tooled Airfix kits seem to be positive. Perhaps this means maybe Airfix may well be planning something? Might just have to sit tight and wait for Eduard, Arma or similar company come up with a brand new Spitfire Mk1 in 1.72. The Airfix starter set of their current Spit MK1, a few paints and a brush might be a fun as a project to do over Christmas, see what I can achieve with a few paints and brush whilst enjoying the holidays with the family. All the best and thanks.
  6. Thanks. Yes, you are absolutely right. Complete apologies. I just saw Spit Mk1 and KP and thought great, I’ve solved the case. Will endeavour to do my research more thoroughly before, next time. Apologies again. So with that, I’m actually let down myself, surely someone would have made a MK 1 by now? Are there any new Spit Mk1 kits in 1.72?
  7. Hi there, I too am planning a BoB 1.72 collection. A Spit, Hurricane, on our side, room possibly for a Blenheim as they seem popular amongst their RAF crew. For the Germans, a BF 109E (bought the Special Hobby, amazing kit by the looks,) a HE 111, DO 17, Me 110, JU 87 and 88. Probably left some out here, suggestions welcome! As for you Spitfire question, just found this: Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1A 1/72 KP- Kovozávody Prostějov. Whilst completely sold on the Arma kit for the Hurricane, am still wondering if anyone has a HE 111, 1.72 suggestion in terms of kit? Masking that front glass is something I will almost certainly mess up, so ease of replacement for parts would be a factor when choosing. Anyways, good luck with the KP version of the Spit, if it’s anything like the Arma Hurricane then I doubt there can be little debate. Thanks
  8. Sorry you had to go through divorce. Not a easy thing for anyone. My ex constantly thought I was sneaking booze in to the workshop. Has anyone ever had any success accurately building finely detailed model kits, whilst being intoxicated? Especially if you are using airbrushes! At the time, I think I’d probably think I was some kind of genius! That is until the cold sober realisation that your “masterpiece,” might well be mistaken for the work of a 3 year old! Perhaps some people can do this hobby after a few shots of enamel thinners 😉I am certainly not one of them! I think also in general, hobbies such as these keep me out of the pub, it’s one of the few activities in life that can certainly be far more enjoyable without booze.
  9. Hi, been sometime since last post, hobbies multi tasking, poor health a Laziness. You say you like Cold War, 3 questions: 1. Is it realistic to paint a 1.72 SBD 5 in modern navy colours, I see White/Red Skyraider but think perhaps Sky Raider pilots may have practiced on the Dauntless? 2. MIG 15 or 17, future project also in 1.72, the Airfix look good. Was thinking Cherry Red over white to compliment 1. 3. Any thoughts? Have a choice of sites to upload BF109G and B17, nearly both done. Any preference? 1. InMotion Hosting + Piwigo 2. SmugMug 3. Google Photos 4. Flickr Pro 5. Imgur Thanks in advance, B
  10. Made me laugh. Wonder what our significant others think we are up to? 😀
  11. Apologies, deleting my newbie comments
  12. Hey @Seahawk, took your advice and purchased the kit. It’s every bit as good as Revels newish Fort, maybe even better. The box art is worth buying alone. If you can get one, it would definitely make a great Christmas present. Thanks again for the advice.

  19. Humbrol Acrylic Varnish in a can, over Future is the problem. There’s something in it that causes death to any model. I’ve lost two projects now to it, lays fine over Acrylic if you are crazy enough to try it.
  20. Awesome thanks for the advice. The Airfix comes with paints as well that should be at the least a good colour guide. I don’t mind Humbrol Acrylic. I found as long as you are generous with the thinner it generally paints on nicely. Off topic also looking to build Meteor A77-851 which served in Korea with the Aussies and scored a couple of probables. Thanks again.
  21. Great review so thanks for that. I was just wondering how this kit compares to the 1.72 Hasegawa Lightning? Both cost about the same. Thanks for any advice. I’m into doing panel lines (very new to this) so any scribe lines I don’t have to do would be appreciated.
