  1. Found an excellent thread about Sutton harnesses, got the story now! Cheers….happy Christmas!
  2. Thanks Chuck, think I’ve got that now. Cheers for the post Noel, my only problem with the video is that the pilot is wearing a modern parachute which precludes the WW2 harness with straps coming out of the centre seat back. Useful nonetheless for the straps going over the fuselage sides! 😄
  3. I’ve never been 100% clear about what goes where and from where about the main, ie shoulder, seat beats in Hurricanes. I’m in the throes of making a PCM Hurricane with the pilot about to step into the cockpit, something like this: but I want to be certain about straps going over the back of the seat, any going through the hole in the centre of the back (?) etc. I have some reference pictures but none clear enough for my liking. At this point of entry I assume ground crew would have put the main straps wide apart and hanging over either side of the cockpit? Any help appreciated.
  4. Undercarriages are my bane, really struggle to get past them. Crazy isn’t it?
  5. What a great looking kit/plane Carl….love everything about it including the cartoon sharkmouth.
  6. Thanks Troy, and it’s all grist to the mill because I think those of us involved in and following Tomas’ excellent thread are Hurricane enthusiasts. I have the Wingleader book and Hurricane at War, excellent as you say, but I must try to find Mason’s book.
  7. Thanks for all of that Troy, definitely one to steer clear of. So in your undoubtedly jam-packed Hurricane library what would you say are your top three “go to’s”?
  8. Yes Tomas, hose fixed to oxygen mask in all cases. I seem to remember there was a spring clip at the other end though I can’t say that I ever knew exactly what it clipped onto.
  9. I used to have my father’s flying helmet and oxygen mask plus hose and I recall that was a mid-brown colour, his dated from 1943/44/45.
  10. Yes you’re right of course Tomas, and I’m with you 100% on that though mine’s 1/32. I’m watching the 1/12 scale build out of interest and for references.
  11. Good progress Tomas! Since you’re really into detail you might find this build of interest.
  12. Well done Ned! I know absolutely nothing about Clanky Things but your model has a whole lot of character and charisma about it, which I like a lot.
  13. Yep, it’s potluck I’m afraid. Pity…..if only those adjutants could have known what historically important documents they were compiling on a daily basis they might have tried harder! 😁
  14. Interesting seeing the Fury alongside it Carl, quite a size difference!
  15. Decent progress indeed Carl…..will you finish it in time (seems like a big ask but I know you’re a mighty quick worker).
  16. Looking great Roland! If you’re very careful you can achieve a chipping effect with very light and targetted sanding, or simply with a silver crayon.
  17. Ah masking, the bane of a modeller's life! But you're getting there Peter, well done!
  18. Watching your Tiger Moth with interest Josep but I think you could have left the engine panel covers without putty because there are slight gaps in places on the real planes. As Paul has mentioned the big challenge (and disappointment) with this kit is the lower wings in particular and the difficulty of getting any dihedral on them.
  19. If you go to the Discovery section of the National Archives and look at the ORBs for those years it may give some clues about the identities of the crashed aircraft, though there is enormous variation in the completeness and accuracy of those documents. Make sure you’re registered to get free downloads otherwise you’ll pay £3.50 per document.
  20. The bike looks phenomenal Nigel, absolutely 100% authentic. Think I may have to investigate this area of the modelling market, especially since until recently I’ve been a motorcyclist all of my life! Well done….brilliant!
