  1. I have a question RE wing flap width on type 32. Basicly all models depict them shortened on type32 (and only on tis type). On A6M2, A6M3 type 22 and A6M5 they depict them up untill ailerons but on type 32 they are depicted a bit shorthish (1 spacing between the wing ribs) and between flap and aileron, lower wing is finished to the trailing edge. Is this a mistake and flaps are identical on all types or is it correct?
  2. Ok good to know. RE Dan Taylor i had no problems. Onyl glitch was the customs as our Taxman is stickler even for small packages.
  3. Does anyone produce Iranian crew figures for 1980's Gulf war that could be used with Iranian Chieftain Mk 5P? I have the model with Iranian markings.
  4. If you see the resting on its belly also has US star on the right wing
  5. In DP Casper decal set 72045 1940-41 Victory in Abysinia (contains markings for 20 aircraft both Italian, RAF and SAAF) there are markings for 1 Fairey Battle of 11.Sqn SAAF (white M, No.924) that was shot down over Ethiopia: http://www.dpcasper.cz/foto-obtisky/222-72045.jpg

Nope. But then again, to me research is 3/4 of the fun.

BTW walkaround the LTV-1 No.47 preserved in USMC Museum: http://afvdb.50megs.com/usa/pics/lvt1/lvt1.html

    LTV 1 Alligator

Thanks. It is confusing to me as some are lightish some a bit darkish in colour and some recoloured pic's make them from light to dark gray or OD (sometimes the same pic) art of interpreting shades and sun position on BW photos. And to top it off the one restored in museum as part of a diarama is gray. I thought "OK just slap gray on" it but it seems more complicated than that. On some pic's they look the similar shade as the ships on some more OD-ish as far as BW photos go. BTW Judging by the superstructure one before last pic the vehicle hiding behind nearest one is LTV 2. Tarawa: Looks a bit lighter especcialy the on in the back: https://www.ww2online.org/image/us-marine-examining-knocked-out-lvts-tarawa-atoll-1943 This supposedly Tarawa 1/1 diorama has in gray first wave No.28 "Whiskey sour"- looks OD but then again looks similar shade to the uniform which was lighter This one is pre Tarawa (not armored yet Bougainville?) and it is OD:

    LTV 1 Alligator

Question RE LTV 1's during battle of Tarawa. What colour would be appropriate for 1/72 model.
  11. Sweet. I got the Caterpillar grader, Burma bomb jeep and japanese roller from Etsy and while i still haven't started them they look great
  12. Nice. On a photo before the sat is that mr. Sharp i see reloading?
  13. There are quite a few pictures in walkaround gallery
  14. Did you try here: https://www.seawings.co.uk/
  15. Thank you. This is most interesting. I already have diorama idea and that diorama grows each time.
  16. What would the digger in this photo be? Found something similar on Etsy different shovel tough: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1143099787/ruston-bucyrus-172-148?click_key=689769451011667177ca475f72afbdb382d54327%3A1143099787&click_sum=7fd7eb88&ref=shop_home_active_9&crt=1&sts=1
  17. Interesting With Marines on Tarawa from 16:52 onward some CB equipment. Interestingly behing sand dumping truck at 17:05 is Ford GTB-S bomb truck (single rear wheel) IMHO painted green, and at 17:10 (roller sequence) there is IMHO a captured Japanese truck driving in the background (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong)
  18. 1/72 is original KP models mould. Not up to the current standards in RE of small parts (like 3D printed engines and such), but builds up nice. Fun little kit. For long it was the only kit of the thingy in one true scale and was priced abnormally (twice their normal kits of comparable size). Eduard also did strip down kit (also Fokker Dr.1 and Fieseler Fi-156) where you got entire kit construction in PE and entire plastic kit for sacrifice to scale modelling deities as it only needed plastic engine, prop cabin floor and seats
  19. Thank you for the clarification. US ground equpment is not my forte as you probaly managed to discern from my newbie ramblings here.
  20. I added LF Models pre-war camouflage masks link on my list. Not for stepped nosed He-111s but as far as i can see the only difference in in the nose, Wings, tail, and fuselage patterns are the same.
  21. Thanks all. So to recap if bought directly by Navy it's grey, if bought trough other means or repainted most probably USMC green rarely OD green. Dozers do seem to be darker (green), but some euipment is rather light on B/W photos. I'm 1/72 (the one true scale) man all the way. I have Wespe models resin buldozer and i recently purchased trough Etsy (all at the same producer and still to be delivered) 3D printed some stuff among others Caterpillar no.12 grader, Ford GTBC (USN 4x4 bomb truck) and LVT-1 (i know those last 2 are grey). If they are as half as good as the renders i'll be one happy modeller. I'm thinking of Pacific islands airfield construction diorama (with or without an aircraft) with some modells still to be purchased like IBG Diamond tip truck, Diamond aspahlt truck (+ some Seabees figures). Etsy Caterpillar No.12 grader: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1128481764/caterpillar-no12-motor-grader-172-148?click_key=adccddf54928f48b7e07a9cae59f2c6156a8fe01%3A1128481764&click_sum=3c1bad63&ref=shop_home_recs_4
  22. RE bomb bay i belive it is more or less identical to later series so Eduard PE for He-111H (minus aerodynamic brakes) would have to do. Deities of aftermarket are thin on this one. This is all i could find: Steelwork models: SW72001 Räder wheels Heinkel He 111 A/B/C/D/E/F/J https://shop.strato.de/epages/61299018.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61299018/Products/SW7201 Decal Heinkel He 111 B/E/H Pedro: https://shop.strato.de/epages/61299018.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61299018/Products/SD7201 KV Models KV72645 Heinkel He-111 canopy & wheels masks (designed to be used with Roden kits He-111A, He-111B, He-111C, He-111E] https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/KV72645 ResKit: RS72-0285 He-111 wheels set early type (designed to be used with Roden kits He-111A, He-111B, He-111C] https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/RS72-0285 LF models: LFMM7273 He-111P-2 pre-war camouflage pattern paint masks - Not for Roden kits per se but same pattern as for the early stepped nose birds https://www.lfmodels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_66_67&products_id=3237
  23. How was the SeaBees equipment like buldozers, graders, trucks, jeeps etc. in Pacific painted? Was it all sea gray or was also olive drab? Specificly Caterpillar D7 and No.12 grader, dumper trucks,... in 1943-44 timeframe
  24. Necelles the more angular cooler intake is for earlier versions rounder for later versions. RE nose glazing i would reccomend to download the instructions for different versions. RE Pe-3 conversion the biggest problem would be correcting the fuselage as Pe-3 had round fuselage and didn't have lowered fuselage for lower rear facing machine gun post. it didn't have fuselage bomb bay but retained necelle bomb bays of Pe-2. from http://ava.org.ru/rap/98g.htm Position of the nose cannons (removed) and shape of the lower fuselage (as well as rear facing underwing RS-82 rockets) can be seen on this photo of photorecco Pe-3bis of 98.
