  1. I received my order with Bilmodel paints. I took both variants for each colour (yellow being the exception, as a lighter shade was chosen) and check them on different backgrounds (metallic over black/white base, only white base). The engine section is waiting only for exhaust pipes: There is my inspiration for propeller blades: A few shadows on the engine cowling as a background for the oils to recreate the stains from the original photos. In my opinion, there is a noticeable chipping of the paint at the front of cowling on the original plane. The same as on 352-9(5?): Unexpected paint loss on the edge will be covered by painted scratches.
  2. The remaining parts were added to the fuselage. I spent some time improving the joint between the fuselage and the wings - a hairdryer was used to bend a little bit the sides to get the joint with a 'click' effect. I also used sandpaper and a scalpel to get the same thickness along the joint lines. The windscreen requires the removal of material on the joint side. The rear part looks to have been cast from a different resin and oversized, so there will be some work to do with sandpaper and modeling file.
  3. Hi All, a month ago I started building a Fiat G.50 from SBS. I decided to make an aircraft which fought in Africa and chose the paint scheme from the cover to start with: As I found only this graphic on the internet, I decided on a different plane, also with a yellow engine cowling and green&brown stripes. In the end, I decided on the 352-4 because there are enough photos to reproduce the paint pattern. Another problem I encountered was the colour of the cockpit. I read information which I found here, on Stormo! website, I also looked on Fiat CR.42 from british museum - and I decided to use Grigio Azzurro from MRP: And few photos of the current stage:
  4. My initial idea is to finish two PZL 23: early version ("A") from training unit: and the late production ("B") from squadron stationed in ToruΕ„ (Thorn) - my place of birth. This plane was crashed in 1938. In the past I finished PZL 23A from IBG and I have only one major objection about this kit - shape of cowlings & exhaust manifold (whole engine area). So I started to correct this element. To get proper dimensions I based on quite good photo of this area which I found: To calculate dimensions I based on diameter of plastic part so it can be a little bit off scale if this dimension in kit is wrong but now I leave it as it is. You can notice some strange points around rear edge of exhaust manifold. Let me show for what reason they were created... Internal cowling should be placed more dipper inside than it is presented in kit, something like below (not glued yet, only fit with engine for demonstration purposes). This part is prepared for "A"version - on that plane it could be installed only one gun. So I decided to remove one undercut in exhaust manifold. I found photos where on PZL 23 A was mounted part prepared for "B" version, but I want to get visual differences between two finished kits.
  5. This particular PZL P.11c is interesting for two reasons: the beauty, unofficial squadron emblem on the right side of the fuselage and the radio. I had some doubts about the way the antenna was mounted, but after analyzing some average-quality photos, I believe I managed to get the effect closest to the truth. gun barrels, gunsight, oil radiator, venturi probe - MASTER propeller - Quickboost khaki - Bilmodel Makers
  6. Hi All, before I start painting model I like to do a research on what the real aircraft looked like when in service. And... I have some troubles with Hellcat and figuring out whats happen on wings/horizontal stablizers. I guess that flaps and aerlions can be a little bit darker as they're made from different material. Also, that part of wing near fuselage can be dirty because of maintenance activities. But how about darker leading edge/tips of wings/stabilizers? This pattern occurs also on some others photos In this case also darker area is around marking on the left wing: Is there any rational explanation why there are such colour differences between the leading edges/tops and inside surfaces?
  7. This FM-2 is also from Arma Hobby (but decals are from Techmod) ^^: . But now I'm trying to build Hellcat (this is the sixth attempt in my life, in which only once managed to complete the model) πŸ˜„
  8. Thank you all for warm reception! ^^ I used AK Real Colour RC211 as mentioned in the instruction
  9. Good evening all. After a 'little' break between June and now, Ki-84 has been already finished. Now it's #1 kit on my personal list in 'fine detailed, easy to build & fun' category. During work I had some troubles with finding a photo of real plane so I focused only on gaining experince in painting the scratches. If I build one Ki-84 more then I'll paint all yellow straps, as there is currently a small colour difference between the decal and the leading edge πŸ˜ͺ (but hard to see on photos πŸ˜„)

  11. Built OOB, excluding drilled exhaust pipes. I really love this red-nose paintscheme. Pilot: Pavel Chuvelyov. Historical photos have been taken from: http://armahobbynews.pl/en/blog/2021/03/25/yak-1b-aircraft-of-soviet-aces/
  12. Masterpiece! Did you deepen some lines? - in my kit on some parts they are barely visible. πŸ˜•
  13. Yeah, I know that TBM was reboxed, but unfortunately kit was sold out in every shop which I checked... but half hour ago I found one kit (only one) on online auction so now it's mine. 😎 About chipping - it's a first time in my whole life when I decided to make them on model in other way than using crayoons. It was always my weak point, so I found (in my opinion) the best tutorial on youtube and painted them based on that. I used hataka paints for brush.
  14. So, it's my recipe: - X-19 Smoke; - XF-55 Deck Tan (I really love this colour!); - basic white from Hataka - at the beginning of the stains. Of course, all paints are very diluted and used low pressure. And I returned few times to each colour to achieve satisfactory result.
  15. Hello, uff, second model finished this year - maybe next year will be better, who knows. Two models are very close to finish, so maybe I will beat the record. I think that it's not the last "four leaf clover" in glass-case - but at first, I need to find TBM-1C kit in 1/72.
  16. Yep, you're right - it's IIb. I really don't know why I wrote IIa. Title has been edited. πŸ˜… So, different images/plans and different shapes. So, adventure begins well...
  17. Hi All, as the newest AH model has been released, I would like to build AM358. There is only a one major problem - camera containter below fuselage. I know that there is KORA kit available (camera+markings), but I heard a bad opinion about the resin part, so I want to scratch/project it myself. So, my question is: where can I find fine plans of that container? Books, websites, etc...?
  18. Yep, it's not A or B scheme - but please compare with first photo, where the plane doesn't fit exactly in A or B. That plane was repainted from "black night" scheme by mechanics (probably using brushes), and I see a few exceptions to the rules - and I tried to map them + my little bit invention on right side, where only right wing tip is visible. More photos are available here:
  19. Thanks for comments. πŸ™‚ Chris, I'm looking forward for your finished model I'm not a photography expert, so I guess that there is a few steps to achieve that effect. At first, I use one lamp 125 watt/5500K with white translucent umbrella (but I need buy one set more). White balance in camera is set to "automatic", so the rest of the "magic" I do in Picasa 3. That photo is too dark at the beginning (a little bit more than the rest from the photo session) , but let's try to quickly fix it: Cheers Artur
  20. Hello, I had a long journey with that kit - it's easier than mk.I, however my low skills caused several problems on various steps. I cannot wait for 1/48 kit which should look as 1/24 in the box. πŸ˜€
  21. Thanks! I didn't notice that discussion. So, I will paint canopy using Black Night + Dark Green + Aluminium paints. The last question is: what's happen in the tail section on the DG. πŸ˜€
  22. Argh, I still do mistakes during using acronyms and RAF colours. πŸ˜€ Updated photo:
  23. Hi, I am building the newest Hurricane mk IIc from Arma Hobby and I need some help with LKoA paint scheme (blog). Arma Hobby chose black/OG/DG: However, my interpretation of LKoA is quite different. I am a little unsure about lighter tone on DG (rudder, rear fuselage, elevator, ends of the wings). In my opinion, it's not definetly "brush strokes" effect, because in this case we should see them at the front of the fuselage and on the other aircraft. Of course, OG put on DG is only my proposal, but maybe someone saw something similar on other RAF planes and know answer. I'm open to discussion, feel free to share your view.
  24. Frightening German in czechoslovak sauce πŸ˜€
  25. Hi all, this is my first post here. I am thankful for the opportunity to post my last finished model - Fokker E.V. from Arma Hobby /Junior Set/ - and the fourth model after my return to this wonderfull hobby. Propeller was painted using watercolor pencils.
