Interesting effect with the sunlight through a roller blind - it’s the green scheme really

I’d second a return to 1/600, although what I really would like to see is a Post War British Aircraft Carrier that could be slightly modified to represent some of the export nations with representative aircraft types. These could be 3D files designed to print off yourself (or from your favourite 3D print buddy). Potential Export boxings could be for - French, Argentine, Australian, Canadian, Dutch, Indian & Brazilian, not to mention the various British carriers.
Cheers.. Dave
Another one I've long thought they should do is a new sprue to build Belfast as she was post war / is now. Again, would be a 'way in' for potental new modellers

Like a tired old record, I'll say again - Airfix, please kit the aircraft cadets fly in. Tutor and Viking. Get the young 'uns interested . Offer a varied marking sheet so they can build 'their' aircraft

There were several other mods done at around the same time, so yes AN/ALE 40 but also the old domed red anti coll lights were replaced by the inverted V high intensity strobes. Also ( come on Bob ) the seats should have gone from 9B2 to 9B3 ( bigger headbox ) and possibly the 1148 tailcone mod where the drop down type replaced the noddy cap
By the time I joined in 85, most were 1A's, but I was on the mods team that did the last upgrade at Abingdon where they added one after 'the line' had closed, and it got all those mentioned ( XZ381 )

Correct James.
As I recall, and it was a few decades ago now, the initial blast from the seat gun goes or went to two small jacks, one either side of the front of the canopy. Operation of the jacks unlocks the canopy raiis and lifts them, complete with canopy, into the airstream which in turn lifts the canopy clear of the aircraft. A short cable attached to the seat gun sear removes the latter enabling the seat cartridge to be fired and remove sea/occupant from the aircraft.
So the canopy/seat would probably work in the configuration shown (I think)
A more accurate description of the operation can, no doubt, be obtained from @Selwyn

So that's where the Jag got the idea......

Pylon trailing edge is pointed rather than flat, need single wheel rear legs, possible blade re-profiling

It got worse, I then got moved from the tyre bay, which at least had a door so I could slip out to watch the planes, to the hydraulics bay that had no windows or external doors at all. The RAF was trying very hard to dampen my enthusiasm at that point lol.

Tyre bay, hyd bay, tank bay - first tour 85-88 Colt............ but at least then we got to go on dets with the Sqns !

I spent the first 3 months after finishing my Apprenticeship in the tyre bay at Leuchars (talk about being disappointed lol) so I can confirm that the main wheels could be white, black or on the odd occasion a magnesium colour. Nose wheels were almost always white.
There is a photo of Black Mike (while still flying) wearing one black and one white main wheel somewhere in my info folder.

Only 3 months in a tyre bay 😉

It looks to me in a lot of the pictures as if there is some kind of cooling fan fitted to the hub, which is a dark colour, and absent in the link to the photo I posted

I did spend time in the Jaguar tank bay, and these look very similar. 3 sections - front and rear bolted in a ring to the centre. - the 'holes' every other bolt on the centre are where you'd fit clamps when installing the nose / tail. The difference seems to be the two sets of bolts on the centre section - these seem to retian the bulkheads ( whereas 'ours' were a moulded in / permanent fit )
So - raised bolts, recessed joins between sections, and recessed manual filler pointrs in all 3 sections

I like that
Funnily enough, Fritag, I was looking at the nozzle settings, but you'd need to be in the know for that one

Super photo John @canberra kid.
What's happening with the port wing slat? Has it extended and we're seeing the internal primer paint?
Looks like a new slat has been fitted and just not painted yet. You wouldn’t see any internal paint

Looking at this again, I'd at first assumed it was the retaining ring for the glass, but I think it's just with the angle it's taken and the way the light is set back on its brackets, you can see the background. The RBF flag stops you getting a decent perspective as it hides the other side

Those panels wrap around with a 'lid' so if black on bottom will be black on top.
