  7. On the Night of the 31/08/1944 Lancaster PD259 (JO-G) and her 7 man crew from 463 Sqn RAAF departed RAF Waddington on a standard Navigational exercise over Scotland. An Army Observer post noticed a Lancaster in trouble and the crash site was found a few days later and the bodies of the crew recovered. A team from RAF Waddington, which I am a member of, made a decision to return the most recognisable components back "home" In the past a number of Props have been removed from the site for memorials. One near the crash site and one at Waddington. So began weeks of planing and on the 23/06/2009 the plan came together. We assembled and awaited our transport to the Crash site A quick 6 minute flight and the site revealed its self We made up two loads and this is were the Griffin came in handy And it was all loaded and returned "home" Apologies for it being brief, but for those going to Waddington Airshow come and visit our stand in 3 Hangar and we can give you a lot more information. You won't miss it, it'll be the one with the Lancaster parts.
  8. Its a solid resin jobby, similar construction to those little models you get from airlines For more details you'll have to ask Turnerdad

  14. Detailing complete, I have now started applying the decals. Friday is the 93rd Anniversary of the Squadron with this Saturday being the annual association reunion. This being my new target for the completion of the model. Fingers Crossed
  15. Its been a while, But today saw her return to where she belongs
  16. Its been a while since 65 has had a whole repaint, and as you can imagine it is starting to look Faded and Worn. There have been a few areas of the aircraft that has had a repaint recently and hopefully I am catching this appearance I have also started adding the small details, Aerials and the such
  17. Just the standard Humbrol 167 and 166
  18. Replacement Doors painted on the underside today. So completing the main painting task.
  19. Only the R1s have the LAG Roof. It is said to lower the internal cabin temperature by around 5°C But this has now been abandoned as XW664s new colour scheme is the same as that on the MR2s
  20. Next Stage of Painting Complete, The LAG Roof. A few LAG Panels to paint on the underside as 65 has had some new panels which if you look closely can be seen on images in a link earlier in this thread. The end is getting closer.
  21. 1st Stages of painting are complete. Once it is fully dried I will be masking and then spraying the LAG Roof (Oh the boat is my Airbrushing test piece)
  22. The Aerials are no problem there pretty srurdy, But the Static wicks on the other hand!!!!!!! But I can now see the light at the end of the Tunnel, the Modeling aspect is pretty much done
  23. All scribed up. Pre shading was the order of the day today
  24. Just a written update today. I did try to take some images but they wasn't very clear. Re-scribing has been the order of the past few days. Particularly the Engine Nacelles and Wing Roots, Dorsal fin and Wing Tip Pods. Once complete on to Final Priming then Pre shading. Hopefully first coat of Grey Sunday afternoon.
  25. Its a replacement panel. The Nimrod was built out of remaining Comet Fuselage pieces (Not Existing Comets). The Comet cockpit side windows are a different shape and the triangular eyebrow windows did not exist. So instead of weakening the existing window frames by cutting the New Eyebrow panel they cut the entire window section out and riveted a whole complete section overlapping the existing fuselage. Today I have added a few more details. All the static wicks on the Flying control surfaces
