  1. This is what we mean You need to find out which aircraft actually received the Mod and there seems to be some doubt if 58 got it. Regards the bomb bay, I would get the Alley Cat resin version http://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk/bae-nimrod-we...-kit-2046-p.asp
  2. Right, got a reply fom my mate at Kinloss, ex 201 Sqn Sidewinders were only ever fitted during Op Corporate: For Granby, BOZ-107 Port and Starboard, Kit Parts 1D, 8D, 16E, 20E and 32E x2 MWS Replacing the Search Light and fitted to the front of the Port Wing Pod Tank (4a Tank) and fitted in two rear mounted fairings just forward of the MAD Boom Kit Parts 1E x2 and 16A And Fin mounted TRD, PM Sent
  3. You can fit and remove the BOZ as the need dictates and is indipendant of the FLIR. No buoys in the bomb bay. The kit has Mk1c sonobuoy which were only used on the MR1 MR2 carries all its buoys internally
  4. I'm afraid not, way before my time, but I will have a chat with a guy I know who was on 201 Sqn. Will see if he remembers anything. Oh and the History of Aviation part of the DVD only goes up to WWII Found this image taken in 1996. You can see the bottom of the FLIR Turret and looks very similair to the current MR2 Wescam fit Found here. http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1164044/ There is another image taken the same day of the same aircraft but the other side and there is a BOZ-107 fitted
  5. If its "History of Aviation: The Nimrod" or "Nimrod: A tribute to the first jet powered sub hunter killer", There both the same DVD. Narrated by Richard Todd and only covers up until the mid 80s, "A New Nimrod is about to enter service with the Royal Air Force, the advanced Nimrod AEW3"
  6. You can also split the wing, so 4 sets of wing components, smaller bits so even easier to move.
  7. Yes, Each wing has 4 mounting points, which are part of the centre box There are a dozen Bolts in each Mount, Disconnect all the pipes cables and wiring, Support the wing remove the bolts Done Wing Removed
  8. I was begining to wonder how long it would take for this to be posted here
  9. Stunning absolutely Beautiful, captured her perfectly. I'm glad I was help
  10. Platform buildings and canopy all done. Still alot of platform furniture to add I went out and gave the platform a check fit in the garage and my measurements were spot on. Also my Totem ordered from ebay arrived and I must say I'm very happy with it
  11. Nice Story Billl thanks for sharing. To answer your question. My previous layout was digital and so will this. prototypical trains, prototypically running. I believe the Flying Scotsman will be back in steam next year.
  12. My Brick papers arrived today so I have done most of the hard work on the main station building. I have also made the mounting to the bridge alot cleaner than whats shown above. The colour variation is not as noticeable in the flesh
  13. Made a start with the Station. Just under 6ft, still need to add the edging stones. The Main station building is a recycled one from my previous layout, Witham House. Once my Superquick brick papers arrive I will be extending the bottom of the building to Platform Level and block off the unused side door. The Stairs are a adaption of the Superquick Footbridge And I will be adding 2 more Island buildings with Canopies, again an adaption of the Superquick Island Buildings The bridge is from Metcalfe as is the platform its self and needs a few items to finish it.
  14. I've been meaning to get on with this for over 2 years now, I think I had an overly ambitious plan, Effectively a 14ft x 10ft GWR layout set in 1934 with a Station, Loco shed, Goods Yard and a long tunnel section all with scenery. I have had a change of heart and a more simplistic 14ft x 5ftish area will be scenery with a Great Central Style Station with a small goods yard in the Eastern BR Region towards the end of stream in the 1960s, the rest a work bench and simple fiddle yard. I have laid the track, the tape measure is the length and location of the single island platform. Also as a kick up the backside I have bought my first loco to run on it. A3 Pacific 60103 Flying Scotsman Also a Ex LNER Sleeper in BR Maroon
  15. First item for the dio Complete. The Accurate Armour 1/48 AEC Matador Bowser. Complete in 5 Group Bomber Command Markings, maybe not 100% accurate but I'm happy with it.
  16. What determines the BI and BIII designations were the engines. BIIIs were fitted with Packard built Merlins and the BI Rolls Royce. Both Types were built in tandem and would have followed the same design trends, Large Bomb aimers Blisters, H2S, Large Astrodomes, Small Astrodomes and every other build configuration the Lancasters had. So your aircraft may have been built with Rolls Royce engines then later on Packard built ones fitted changing the designation from BI to BIII
  17. http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafcranwell/aboutus/dcae.cfm Basically teaches new Engineering Officers what its like to be on a Squadron. The Teachers, Sgts mainly act as pilots and are the ones that taxi the aircraft, Taxi out to "take off" then taxi back after "landing" with loads of snags. The pupils take up different roles Airframe Techs, Avionics, Management line controllers etc etc to get a feel of there own and there future subordinates roles.
  18. No progress on the aircraft its self, just a few other items. The AEC Matador. Almost complete, Few items to add and Decals. It also needs gluing together. From the Lancaster Kit I painted up one of the crew, he will be the Bowser driver, Shutting the door as in the above images Just need to add his Rank when it arrives in the post. Set of High Steps and Chocks
  19. We have had this discussion http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...Nimrod+Wing+tip The only drawings you may be able to get will be original Topic 1 or 3 details for the MR1. These have more than likely been destroyed as all updates to the Topics are. So I'm afraid pictures are more than likely your only reference.
  20. Flaps the order of today. Port Set Complete The bomb bay has been painted As well as the U/C and Wheels And also thanks to Hurricane363s Help I have opened a refuelling panel, just the panel its self to be tethered to the aircraft
  21. I was looking on line for some info on AEC Matador Refuelers When I came across this (First 2 images) http://aec.fotopic.net/search.php?txt=matador+tug&t=p Possible mod to the Airfix Matador in the RAF Refueling set?
  22. Have you tried emailing the Avro Heritage Group? http://www.avroheritage.com/ They have the company's records I asked them about PD259 They confirmed some information and and answered some questions PD259 was a BI Larger Nose Blister No Side Windows apart from W/Ops Oval Bomb aimers window They also found a picture of the aircraft awaiting flight trials. They are very good Also have you tried looking for serials close to yours as they would have been built on the same line at the same time. Image from www.luchtoorlog.be/lanc_i.htm caption reads: Lancaster B1 W4963 used for tests at A & AEE at Boscombe Down. Probably the first B1 with the H2S radar fitted. Small Nose Blister and I can see a Window, fwd of the Roundel So to be safe if you wanted to do her as she was during D Day, Paint over all but the W/Ops windows
  23. Nimrod and I know the VC-10 also are not run, just the avionics powered up. We have a special tow rig so we can tow the aircraft and a powerset with the same tug.
