  1. The models are printed in Resin, so they should go together like any other resin kit. (expect that the parts fit together better, cince 3D printing is more precise than casting.) To add onto the, discussion, I was having some printing issues with the Yaks, and had to give the files to a friend to fix, I am hoping to have that done this week finally, and get the orders sent out finally.
  2. That would be because thats not our Homepage! Sorry I've missing lately, but I just recently re-launched Out of the Box after a hiatus. I've also updated the link in my signature to our new website, which has a contact form. In addition to releasing decal sets and Model kits, like the Skyfox, Thomas-Morse MB-3, Windecker YE-5A and the Yaks, I really want to focus Out of the Box more on custom work. I want to focus on designing custom decals and custom model kits for customers who want to commission them. For example, if you wanted a 1/72nd version of any of the aircraft we've already done in 1/400 scale, we could do that for as low as $200. We would upscale it, and add panel lines, windows and other details appropriate for 1/72nd scale models. We also have a brand new 3D printer that is, as far as I know, the largest consumer resin printers on the market, allowing us to 3D Print aircraft as large as a 1/72 747 or C-5 Galaxy.
  3. Just wanted to let everyone know, that the refunds are issued, and this project, like Out of the Box, is officially dead. I am really sorry that we couldn't make it work, there were just a lot more variables than i foresaw going into this. I was really looking forward to the 737 project especially, and am quite upset that we weren't able to finish it.

  5. I think unless you guys see an glaring mistakes, we can proceed to breaking the kit up into parts, and start test printing, so maybe a month or two away from shipment?
  6. Here is the newest update with the panel lines and rivets added.
  7. Sorry for the delay. Here is the first draft based on some low res drawings. I am looking for some better ones before moving forward. Just wanted to show some progress.
  8. Thanks for clearing that up. I assure you that everything is as close to the drawings as we can get, but I will have Goran double check the wing tips
  9. Here's the latest update. If the overall shape looks right, we can move on to surface details and more internal details, I attached a picture of our first run at the cockpit.
  10. Crowdfund is fully funded! Hopefully will have some CAD screenshots in the next few days.
  11. We should be able to print it all on our own printer, so we will be making some concessions, such as breaking the fuselage in half in order to fit, but it will result in the lowest possible price for retail version of the kit. Everyone who crowdfunds the kit will still get it for their original $30, but I think this learning experience will probably mean slightly more expensive large aircraft kits in the future.
  12. Here is the new redesign based on the new drawings!
  13. Got them, thanks, I gave them to the engineer. He is still reviewing them
  14. I appreciate you doing the math for me. As I and some of the others have pointed out, this project is not intended to be profitable, and we are sinking a lot of own money into this. Just because the crowdfund is only $30 doesn't mean the full kit will retail for that much, and I can guarantee you that it wont. The reason we're crowdfunding is because thats what our customer who wanted the kit wants to do. All of our models are commissioned by our customers, either by nominating them for crowdfunding, or by paying the full development cost themselves. As for refunds, our refund/return policy on our website clearly states that we offer refunds for an unlimited amount of time. I honestly understand the healthy dose of skepticism for any business that lives on the internet, but we haven't screwed anyone over yet, to my knowledge, and don't plan on doing so any time soon. I'm an experience designer by trade, and I have been working on this concept for a very long time, trying to create an avenue for modelers like myself to have a say in the models that get produced, and its always evolving and changing and adapting.
  15. Serial Numbers 19679 and 19680, according to Planespotters.
  16. I hate when they do that! I actually can't find any Luftwaffe photos though.
  17. Do they still have their -100s? I thought they were retired?
  18. So, after doing some math, we will be able to print every part except the fuselage on our own Form2 SLA printer, so that should keep costs down significantly.
  19. Here's the latest update, its a bit of an older picture, showing the former mismatch we had with the measurements and the drawings. As I said before we fixed the issue with the measurements.
  20. Well, we were able to un-distort the drawings so the measurements match again.
  21. Okay, let me see what I can clear up here. Right now, as I'm sure you know, we're working the Yak-9T that was funded about a week ago. That is our first aircraft project, and one of our first projects that we started outside of N scale trains, with the exception of the 1/72 Redstone Rockets. I should have been a bit more specific about not knowing what the print will cost, because we have a good idea about how much it will cost, but I don't want to commit to a number until I get more information. Of course its going to cost a lot more than the $30 we're charging, and honestly, these two projects are more for us to show what we can do and hopefully showcase the benefits of being able to take take a customer's idea and make a viable kit that can be printed on demand. We're trying to streamline our development process to move faster, and deliver a products in just a few months. We would start designing the kit as soon as the crowdfund ends. We have a partnership with a 3D printing vendor in Santa Cara, CA called GoEngineer, and they give us discounts on bulk printing, but mostly we are eating the cost on this one. We're using shopify because that's what we have at the moment. And these Crowdfunds were kind of a test to see if the concept worked, which is why we hosted them on our store, and not kickstarter. As for return policy, we have no limits. We can refund anyone's money whenever they ask for one, anywhere along the process. And yes, all they have is my word, and I swear to god, that I an honest person, and would bend over backwards for any of my customers. Myself, and my cofounder, Shawn King, are the only two employees of Out of the Box, a bunch of our friends volunteer and help us out, here and there. We use a freelancing service for our engineers, and they bid on our projects. So far that's worked for us, but as we grow and gain capital, I want to hire an engineer to work for us full time. As far as location, Shawn lives in Syracuse, NY, and we are a New York registered LLC. I live in San Jose, CA, because that's where my day job is. I am a User Experience Architect for Tavant Technologies. We have no other executives. We don't have an office, or a Brick and mortar presence, both Shawn and I work from our respective homes on Out of the Box. The 20 left is the simplest one to answer, the plugin that generates that is manually operated, and I've been traveling all day and haven't updated it yet. Let me know if I can answer anything else.
  22. At the very least, once it developed, we wont have a bunch sitting around costing us money. Just got our own 3D printer set up, it wont be able to print anytihng big, but it will do all the smaller detail parts and things at 25 micron layers, and its 2000% cheaper than having parts printed at a vendor like shapeways. There were 2 military versions of the 737-100, Used by the Mexican Air Force and the Luftwaffe, if that helps.
