  6. Wow excellent model ,just everything is just superb.
  7. Very smart model ,love the sea ,can feel the cold.🥶
  8. Getting close to finishing only crew, rigging, helicopters and some vehicles to fit. Didn't realise last post was 28th Nov.Next project will be HMS Queen Elizabeth 1945. ,this is real colour photo from film in 1945 by the US navy. Here is link to clip ,jump to 1.43 to get to colour part.
  9. Great what-if ,what I did with my Belfast ,I'm not a great fan of camouflage and find that she was painted in Pacific colours in 1945,she had extra anti aircraft guns added plus had removal of her aircraft. The walrus then were use to drop of mail and were based at forward bases or aircraft carriers.
  10. Watching your build ,pushed me to send a letter to Santa and now have 1/700 Trumpeter kit Tirpirz, wooden deck, barrels and photo etching.
  11. Superb job on an old kit, still life in these Airfix kits. Thanks for sharing I have done a HMS Leander ,HMS Belfast the liner RMS Mauretania and the RAF rescue launch.
  12. Hi Stuart To back date Renown 1945 to before she was rebuilt would take a lot of scratch building.Only company I found that did Renown before rebuild is a company called NNT.Here is my Renown as she was in 1945 ,the kit is correct I just painted her as she was in 1945.There is a good piece of real coloured film of Renown in 1945 on youtube .I find the wooden decks great, if you check ships there was always a difference in depth between were a wooden deck and the steel deck on warships . Link to the company ,this kit will be very hard to found these days ,but watch ebay ,they do pop up. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/nnt-modell-buch-70010-hms-renown-1916--105649 A good build of the NNT kit http://www.modellmarine.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4659:britischer-schlachtkreuzer-hms-renown-1700-nnt-von-norbert-thiel&catid=125:nthiel Link to youtube https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=british+pacific+far+eastern+fleet Chris
  13. Excellent build ,that's the smartest 1/700 Type 42,at first look, thought it was 1/350 ,thanks for sharing .
  14. Thought better give update on HMS Intrepid,I went away for a week in Nov and took a ship that had sat on the self for over an year,it took that week just to get back into in Yuri Garmin and having done that ,it was time to finish her before getting back to Intrepid, also got side track with a diorama of USS Winston Churchill and HMS Montrose doing a RAS with Wave knight ,it needs to be finished off with crew and rigging on the refuel lines, plus added crew to USCG Bertholf, I used the figures from Black Cat Models 1/350 ,they are excellent, only lost one head and a leg ,which was easily glued back on.
  15. I agree with the above, there some etching that needs a bending tool ,I don't use it alot ,but there has been etching that would have been ruined without the bending tool, there is two types,a small one and large one I would go for the large one ,they use cost a fortune, not any more,I bought one for only £35 at a show. Look for Mastertool .
  16. Superb detail ,a pleasure to watch ,again great to see a Tirpitz build.
  17. Good to see a Tirpitz build, will be watching ,like how you are back dating her.I do that alot so I can avoid camouflage scheme. 🧐
  18. Thanks for the review and with a wooden deck and photo etching and barrels, now available it can be turn into a decent model.I must add I did Belfast set late 1945 pacific where there couple of changes .
  19. Correct, Intrepid never got the Phalanx fitted ,reading her history is it was not for the Falklands war she would gone to the scrapyard much much sooner. Thanks for the other information ,good thing about ships in service armament they would take items off and on depending what the ship was going.
  20. Another carrier on its way, HMS Argus in WW1 and WW2 version from AJM Models should be out next year.
