  1. Hi Got mine last Saturday at the Glasgow show (thanks Jamiesons). It looks good to me in the box but seems to have gone quiet on the forums. I had hoped some more knowledgeable folk might have made a few comments before now so I can decide what (saw the bit about u/c legs above), if anything, I need to change and start building. Any offers thanks in advance? Cheers Chris
  2. And Meng are due to be at Scale model world - http://ipmsuk.co.uk/news.php Cheers Chris
  3. All so on ebay, Plastic pastimes, was 99p last night. Polarbears3kitcatcat the seller.
  4. Hi Jessica, many thanks and now another site to keep an eye on. Will see what my ATR-72 is like then almost certainly go for Deux-Ponts. Cheers Chris
  5. Hi Glen, getting slightly off topic, but what are the Deux-Ponts like please? Used to watch them lumber into Heathrow when on 28R/L from my School on the old Feltham airpark. Ah the good old days if only I had taken more photos and not just the registrations! Cheers chris
  6. That's excellent service, and without actually selling you the model, and should be commended - thanks Creative models. Must add anything I have bought from them has been extremely quick and well packed - thanks again. Cheers Chris
  7. Seconded and that's without even thinking of the asking price!!! Hopefully Airfix will beat them all to it well heres hoping. Cheers Chris
  8. Hello All, Many thanks for all the replies. Now have one on order from Hannants via local model shop to save p&p. Cheers Chris
  9. Hello, while looking for something a bit different (and still looking for a 1/72 Dash 8) I spotted these 1/144 injection ATR 42 and 72 by F Resin on Hannants for £18.99 - the Aurigny looks good. I have not come across this company before - anyone able to venture an opinion on what the quality and buildability are or should I continue to wait for the Italeri 42? From the F Resin website looks like they do some other very interesting older airliners shame its not 1/72. Thanks in advance. Cheers Chris
  10. Hi Only saw the 'standard' C-97A in Newcastle Modelzone not even a G and nothing else online. Think it was down to 8.99 last days of sale on Sat. Anyway happy with the result so far now to find the time to get on with it! Cheers Chris
  11. Hello, ordered mine from Hattons Friday morning delivered Saturday morning!! Excellent service and very well packed. Decals are for WZ399 of 543 Sqn Aluminium/natural metal(?) and red panels scheme and XD812 overall white of 214 Sqn as the instructions say you need to use the decals in the kit as these are just extras required eg serials a fin flash (543) and Sqn badges. There are no transparencies included but assume they come with the main kit unfortunately I do not have mine with me to confirm though. Looks very nice though. Cheers Chris
  12. Hello, Thanks for all the other tips. Am now the owner of one KC-97L cost £19.99 and sourced from Wonderland Models, A good price I think. Ordered Tues evening delivered, and very well packed, Thursday morning (with the help of Royal Mail of course). If anyone else wants one they said thay have some more. Tip if you use the website search for KC-97L not just KC-97 - returns nil. No connection other than a very very satisfied customer - twice in the last month. Cheers Chris
  13. Hello FF, I built mine a year or two ago and the decals went on fine with a little bit of microsoft but I seem to recall that the roundels had a darker blue ring on the outside of the blue. I asked Airfix for new roundels and got a very quick response of the whole decal sheet - thanks Airfix. Unfortunately same issue with the new roundels so I replaced with some Xtradecals. Think some of the others may have had similar problems but not nearly so noticable. Hope that may be of help. Good luck Cheers Chris
  14. Oh dear placed an order yesterday, for something else. Will have to look again to see what else I might 'need' so as to make a sensible parcel for the postage. Cheers Chris
  15. Hello All Many thanks for all the replies. I have managed to source a good priced 97L and it should be with me shortly. As for the Cobra resin can't find a UK supplier (well not Hannants) and the guys web site is not to inviting - from his shipping information page Charges determined by weight, distance and value of parcel AT TIME OF MAILING!!! DO NOT request shipping total at time of order because WE DO NOT KNOW!!!! IF you are concerned about shipping, DON"T ORDER!. And at $25 plus the shipping I think I will give a miss, Thanks again for all the replies and offers of the jets and decals - Julien. Cheers Chris
  16. Hello I am thinking of doing one of these, the L being my preference but before I jump in and spend but can anyone tell me what the differences are and if the parts can be found in both boxings - from what I can see the L version got a couple of jet engines to boost performance. However interestingly the G model can be found quite cheap whereas the L is rather rarer/more expensive. Thanks. Cheers Chris
  17. Thanks Sean, Hadn't seen that review before, still not convinced though but as you say each to his/her own. Cheers Chris
  18. Hello, does anyone know why the massive prices for the 1/48 S Etendard Afghanistan and Mirage 2000 D Khandahar? I know they know include some etch and resin(?) but from the box tops it seems a small amount for a major hike in prices over similar sizes eg Mirage 2000 C / IVP. Is there something extra? Thanks Cheers Chris
  19. Hi While not a Q400 Hobbycraft Canada seem to be back in business, possibly, and list most if not all the 'old' models in their current listing including the 1/72 Dash 8 and DHC-4 Caribou. Unfortunately Hobbycraft do not appear to have an e mail address and I do not do Facebook. Has anyone got any later info please? http://www.hobbycraftcanada.com/hobbycraft...it_Listing.html That should make doing a shorter version much easier - looking at making an odd American civil registered N353PH one that past through Lossiemouth (and Mildenhall?) a year or two ago while I wait for a 400 to come along. It would be much simpler if I could obtain a new one otherwise its back to e bay to see what comes along. Thanks Cheers Chris
  20. Thanks Jens, Interestingly, but perhaps not surprising, still less than the 'normal' retail of the Italeri RAF version in the UK Cheers Chris
  21. Hi While looking at the ebay shop for the Black Eagles T-50 I noticed this Hawk 67 . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-48-ACADEMY-R-O...9#ht_4894wt_936 anyone know if its the Italeri one with extra bits for the nose & cockpit? Or another new one. Thanks. Cheers Chris
  22. Hi Thanks Julien for the suggestion trust using acrylics will have a similar end result. Cheers Chris
  23. Hi They have been at Leeming for a couple of weeks or so while being assembled and test flown, airfrieghted into Manchester the by road to Leeming. You may not have seen that Academy have released a 1/48 scale Black Eagles T 50, price about £35 from Hannats and others but I got mine from this guy on e bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270950987175?ssP...9#ht_4996wt_936. Cost about £22 /£23 inc post and took only about 7/8 days and well packed. No connection other than a happy satisfied customer. Only gripe is that it is moulded in black plastic - any good advice on how to paint/spay white and light grey for the u/c and bays? So far building very nicely - even bought a second from him! Cheers Chris
  24. Hello Just saw a review of some resin for the Hobbycraft 1/72 DHC 4 Caribou in the July Scale Aircraft Modelling where there is mention of the 'newly reborn Hobbycraft'. A quick google gives this link http://www.hobbycraftcanada.com/hobbycraft...da/Welcome.html. Contact page gives an address but no link for the e mail address anyone know more? The pages mentions 'After a long hiatus, the newly tooled AVRO ARROW is back. This 100% newly tooled kit contains more than 40 parts, includes new decals, new instructions and great new box art. Look for them at local hobby shops or contact us to find one!' While I know there has been critisism of some of their models they do have plenty of unique ones in their list. Cheers Chris
  25. Hello, Going slightly off the main track but...... I too like Model Air but trying to get colour matches seems rather hard, their colour chart has some but as Phil says often open to discussion. Having looked at the big data base advertised here yet another set of matches sometimes more than one comes up. My efforts have been to paint some Xtracolour patches and then some Model Air ones and come up with my own interpretation. Is anyone aware of something a bit more definative please. I am mainly interested in UK WW2 till now. Thanks Cheers Chris
