  1. Hello everyone! As usual I totally failed to keep my build log updated but here's the lot in one go. I really enjoyed this conversion. As to comments above - I'd say the parts you get are about as good as what Airfix give you, and it's all very hard to see anyway. I was very happy with the detail level. Here's a cockpit shot: Note I put a load of weight behind the cockpit there. The kit fits together very nicely and the WellsProp nosecone was an easy addition. I proceeded to prime the model with Mr Surfacer 1500 grey... Then sprayed Mr Colour fluorescent orange in numerous layers. Noting the faded appearance of the upper fuselage panel in the real photos, I used some micro mesh to wear this away during the painting process. Then I put a bit of white into the mix to help me fade that panel... Masking took a good few hours. Then tamiya black. And the wonderful Matterhorn decals! More to come soon...
  2. One of the finer builds I have seen of this kit, a real pleasure to behold
  3. Truly lovely modelling - your paint work always impresses me.
  4. I want one - 30 Squadron marking in Mesopotamia!
  5. Long awaited and finally it's here! A wonderful model and I am keen to get one
  6. This is going to be helpful for my upcoming 1/48 build! Lovely kit.
  7. I am strongly considering setting up a swap for some of the kits I got... I know I have too many. I think the aspect that confused many was Hanannts' instruction to remove a kit from backorder. Normally a button appears to do this but in the circumstances the kits went straight to the basket. I toyed with a few random non WNW items to see how this worked.
  8. Really appreciate your build of this stunning aircraft
  9. I got a whole bunch! Some kits I bought because I might want them in future but if I change my mind I figure it's a reasonable investment. I actually bought the Duellists set simply to get the RE.8, which means I already have a spare Cl.II to sell to somebody. It seemed to me I wasn't going to get an RE.8 any cheaper anywhere else as the main kit has been out of production for so many years.
  10. So long as the canopy is the right shape, then we should be okay I feel. The reason in my mind is that 3D printing can rectify anything shape wise and small manufacturers on this forum are able to produce correction sets (not unlike that resin tail available for the CA Battle). We are unlikely to get another Battle kit soon so if the Trumpy kit turns out to be flawed there should be a market for corrective 3D printed parts. Same goes for their Fulmar.
  11. This is good news. Not a type we have many kits of and the Hasegawa offering is not often seen on shop shelves
  12. Ah my heart goes out. The backorder system was quite confusing. Unfortunately I think deleting that backorder was the end for your access to the kits. Hannants have had the kits for a day now and certain kits are still available such as the DH.9. It is curious that there is a core of kits which never sold out backorders.
  13. Looks pretty good to me. Was never going to be perfect but it should make for an easy build. Parts breakdown suggests a future sea hurricane is unlikely..
  14. Thanks Steve. Sadly I lost the prop in a house move so the model is no longer in my cabinet!
  15. I asked why and this is a sound answer, thank you as I think I can see the logic now! From a Western perspective it feels like others dominate this market but I didn't know Eduard were so small in Asia.
  16. A full set of Mk. II boxings? Well yes please! Arma will surely deliver a very strong IIC product but I think after years of poor availability of old Hasegawa Mk II kits, a full suite from Hobbyboss is more than welcome. A full set of Mk. 17. Interesting! Probably going to be easy to beat the fairly basic kits available right now. I wonder if a UH-1D is in the pipeline - that would be welcome.
  18. This is great news. We all know what Trumpeter kits are like.. but I will take this over a £120+ classic airframes kit second hand on eBay, which by all reports is a tricky build with some shape issues. So long as the canopy shape is correct, I think we will be okay. At the end of the day this will be a semi-affordable, easily building modern Battle kit which is something we have needed for a long time
  19. Colour me interested! We have 1 short run kit which is not known for its fit... Though the Trumpeter record of accuracy in FAA subjects leaves much to be desired let's cross our fingers for this one. They tend to build up well.
