  3. Thanks! Some Revell "Anthracite" then G
  4. I'm starting the Trump. Gannet. Anyone know what the cockpit colours are? Trump says grey but was it black??? Any photos on the net? G
  5. and more here http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/zoltan_p...ighter_typhoon/ Looks like white/light grey (revell do a nice satin very light grey #371 RAL7035) G
  6. Actually looking at photos of the Typhoon cockpit, Admiralty grey 632 is waaaaaaay too dark a shade. Something like Barley or US Ghost grey is closer. (no matter what the spec says!) G
  7. I have copies BS 381C, FS595B and the humbrol fan deck binder in front of me!!! Barley/Camo grey 626 = Humbrol 167 Dk Adm, Grey 632 = approx FS36176 = approx Humbrol 156 FS 36280 = approx Humbrol 126 Flint grey FS36280 = approx Humbrol 126 FS36314 = approx Humbrol 167 (again) FS26492 = approx Humbrol 147 (As a rule of thumb, FS1XXXX is gloss, FS2XXXX is satin and FS3XXXX is matt) HTH Gav

When I built mine (See below) I had an excellent set of photos to go from. They were taken by a club member who was in the air cadets at the time. Shots of ZE355/S , complete with black tail. I have put them on the IPMS West Glam website. They are GREAT photos, taken before digital was invented by a teenager with his instamatic!. Its also interesting to note on the side shots of the intakes that this a/c has the BDR patches which everyone tells you to carve off from the Tamiya kit! anyway, have a look at http://www.geocities.com/ipmswestglam/f4juk/ G
  9. Ta! I'm winding up to do the new 111sqn Boss a/c.
  10. Does anyone know if there are "walk way" markings on the upper surfaces of the RAF Tornado F3s in the new darker medium sea grey scheme? The old barley grey scheme had white hashed markings on the upper wings and fuselage. Does the Darker scheme have them in dark grey/black like the GR4???
  11. Nice F3! I am going to build one "on a stick" for a mate who's on 111sqn. I have airfix and italei kits and some Model Alliance decals. What (who?) did you use for aircrew?

More like a kinder nasty-surprise egg!!! Bought it off a stand at the Nats for £16 without opening the box! (It would look good in 1/35 scale with some ground crew etc) I know how a sculptor feels when faced with a block of marble. There's a piece of art in there waiting to be carved out !!! Some nice ref photos on Prime portal though: http://www.primeportal.net/the_airstrip.htm

Might need a bit of a raid on the spares box. Two of those blobs of resin are hellfires!

Latest club competition is themed "Tv and Films". At last years Nats I bought an (expensive!) 1/72 resin Predator UAV that might fit the bill (Predator..get it). RAF use them at 1115 Flt in Nevada! Here photos of the kit Its RUFF!!! Shall I crack it open?!?!? Might need to stock up on wet'n'dry and filler!!!
  16. Nothing wrong with Yanks! I work for an American Company and my wife is Canadian (same thing!) :-)
  17. It was nice to "throw away" the airbrush, reference photos, resin cockpits etc and actually BUILD something! Camo is hand painted (first time i've done that for YEARS) with xtracrylics. No washes, pre/post shading, dry brushing... Quite cathartic really! Reminded me of modelling as a kid!
  18. My first post! (Nice to see some Brit modellers rather then Yanks!) I usually build 1/32 or 1/48 Jets with all the "bells and whistles" but wife and kids have reduced modeltime to approx. zero! But managed to build revell 1/144 Hunter as a Rhodesian AF aircraft with the aid of the xtradecal 144 hunter sheet (superb) and a old decal sheet from an ancient copy of SAM (the xtradecal sheet has yellow on the lion rather than the correct gold) Photo shows aircraft next to a 5p piece! Nice kit, nice decals, nice change of pace!
