I don't know if this is going to be of any use at all, but these are the rules we use at IPMS to define exactly what is and isn't OOB. Out-of-Box (all scales, all subjects) This category is designed to produce a model within the limitations of the following conditions:- i) The model must be built using parts contained within a single kit as per the instructions. ii) No modifications may be made to those parts (no gun barrels or exhausts being drilled out etc) iii) The model must be built in the colour scheme, markings and decals supplied in the kit. iv) Filler or model putty may be used for filling joints and gaps only. v) Sprue or other material may only be used if specified in the instructions. Hi Simon, in answer to your question the Tamiya kit is the best by a fairly long margin in every department. As others have said it's more expensive than either the Revell or Airfix offerings but you get what you pay for. As a side not Eduard and Ultracast do some really nice sets that will dress up any Mosquito a treat.

Those mags depend on the model companies for advertising revenue so it doesn'l surprise me at all reviews are almost universally positive. I used to write reviews for a mag but quit when my reviews had to be shortened to fit in available space, the only problem was that it was only the negative parts of the review that were removed.

Doesn't look awful to me at all, in fact it looks great. I know exactly what you mean by things looking just fine in real life but when I take a photo of them it looks like the dog chewed my kit. Please keep the updates coming.

Sorry mate but that is a fantasy. Try looking at some of the on-line "discussions" or browse a couple of reviews on the Raptor or the Hellcat and just see how little unconditional raving goes on. I have looked at the pics Velo posted to make confirm and I still think the cockpit detail is soft compared to the fine work in the wheel well & speed brake. Also, the panel lines are at long last looking like panel lines yay!!!
