    NEW DML

Soooo, what's the plan, inquiring minds want to know?
  2. Nice looking build Stephen, thanks for posting.
  3. What's the problem with the finish on the wings? Apart from that one splotch of green on the port wing it looks just fine to me. Oh and nice job on the free hand camo.
  4. Looks good Petros, I'll be interested to see how that RLM 04 looks after it's been given a final flat coat. Keep the updates coming. Cheers
  5. Chris I hate "me to" posts but I agree with nsmekanik that rectangular block you are describing sounds like a casting block and will need to be removed. One thing, make sure you use a mask when sanding or cutting resin as the resin dust is a big no no for your lungs. Cheers
  6. Please do Jen, I'd love to see a few pics of this baby.
  7. The Lightning is definitely one of Airfix's better kits it has recessed panel lines through out and the level of detail is more than acceptable. If I was building another (and I stress I here) I would replace the cockpit in a second, not that the Airfix one is bad it's just that it does not hold a candle to AM replacements. As this is always such a busy complex area in modern jets I would certainly spring for a replacement and I think from memory I used the Cutting Edge offering on mine. The wings are a little on the fiddly side as mentioned but nothing a decent modeler can't handle in his (or her sorry Mish) sleep. The decals are a matter of choice but I have never been a fan of Airfix decals and replaced mine with Aeromaster. Happy modeling
  8. That's the one all right, thanks Mike.
  9. Jon that's an awesome build from a less than awesome kit :worthy:. Btw what color did you use for the foliage green it really effective. Cheers
  10. I saw an article on ARC years ago where somebody was building a 32nd scale Phantom and doing their own etch. I'll try and search for the article but the technique from memory was waaaay beyond my capabilities. Cheers
  11. to the build Mark, I'll be looking forward to seeing some pics of your build as it comes along. Cheers
  12. I have used all of the above except Xtracrylix and Gunze is by far my favorite as it just sprays like a dream. Vallejo (model color and model air) are nice but they are very delicate and matching a real life name like RLM 02 to one of their paints is a pain in the butt.
  13. I've got to say this is an excellent thread, too bad it wasn't around when I started airbrushing. As far as removing the nozzle on an Iwata I think it's only the Revolution series that requires a spanner, I know my Eclipse certainly doesn't. Btw, if anybody is interested I have a PDF called the ABCs of Airbrushing that was put out by a US modeling magazine a few years ago. It describes (and shows) the cleaning procedures for acrylic and enamel paints using an Iwata and a Paashe airbrush. If anybody wants a copy drop me a PM with an email addy that I can post an attachment too. Cheers
  14. Holy crap Keef that's an absolutely stunning build, congratulations.
  15. Tim I agree with you as that's the way I plan to go when I do a Mk.IB. Also in case you're interested here is a thread that talked about the various armament options the Mk.IB had. Cheers
  16. Boy I was worried there for a minute, I thought it might be something serious
  17. Looks great Mish keep those progress pics coming
  18. Great work Rob and a major bummer about the markings, but at least now I know why they got the nickname ErrorMaster. Are you going to stick with the Gold Coast I markings for this build or change to something else?
  19. I'll throw my hat into the ring on this one. A timeframe of six months for a GB is just fine as far as I'm concerned as with work and family commitments I don't get a chance to model every night, or every second night for that matter. Modelling is a hobby for me that I fit in when I can but I do love participating in group builds, so a six months time frame is perfect for me. As for pressure, well I get enough of that in real life and I really don't need it in something I do for fun. Just my Oh and btw, I just picked up the Aussie decals sheet for "G' for George Lancaster B1 which is on display in the Australian War Memorial. "G" for George flew 90 operational missions in 460 Squadron RAAF over Germany and occupied Europe between 1943 and 1944. Cheers
  20. Hey Bruce, you can't say those Pizza's didn't go down well, man I was starving by the time they finally arrived and I think Perrin was about to eat one of the legs off the table.
  21. Definitely sounds like a clog up to me as well. Get yourself some lacquer (cellulose) thinner, remove all the rubber O-rings etc and give the thing a good was out. Regardless of whether you use acrylic or enamel paint you should always give your AB a complete clean and lube once a month. HTH
  22. That's a stunning looking model Tom, congratulations Cheers
  23. It was a great show with some stunning models on display and I spent a very pleasurable Saturday night judging as it was an IPMS Aust hosted event. One of the categories I had to judge was 1/48 prop aircraft modified which included the Walrus Mk.I, Ju 88A-4, Buffalo, G.50 and the Barracuda, all of which were superb pieces of work and very difficult to separate. Cheers
  24. Cool idea Richard, keep those updates coming
  25. Hey Rob, are you going to use the Ultracast set to convert from a Mk.IA to a Mk.IIA?
