  1. Very nicely done! A fine tribue to the Iron Works. Looks more like 1/48 than 1/72.
  2. Funny, my neighbor was an F-4 backseater flying out of MCAS Beaufort, in SC. When we were talking about his experience mentioned the pronuciation was a topic of some debate.
  3. This is looks very good. This will be quite a fun diorama when it's done. Her trawler hold is forward. No clue what they did with the space, but it wasn't full of fish. Hopefully not crew quarters😱

    Sanding

I have the Infini set and they are quite nice. Having written that, I primarily use good quality Swiss-pattern needle files. I find they're much easier to control, with a behaviour that's almost like a plane on flat or convex simple curved surfaces. That is, they will only cut the bit that stand proud of the surface. Good quality files are not cheap, but they're wonderful indeed. Sanding sponges are also nice, especially for concave areas or compound curved surfaces. I'll use sheet paper laid grit-side up on a flat surface to make a model part planar. Oh, and Welcome aboard!
  5. Very well done, and quite different!
  6. Nice start on this. Will be interesting to follow along.
  7. And thank you for posting!
  8. Nice work on this! This aircraft has such a brutish look
  9. That's exactly what I was wondering about!
  10. With all those Grumman aircraft in my stash, I am all in! They were an excellent company to work for.
  11. Great subject. And I agree, those markings would be fabulous.
  12. Those look excellent! I'd say you're quite the vehicle builder, too.
  13. That is an outstanding looking beast of a model! I built 1/72 versions of the Civil War Hunley and Alligator. They are each shorter than the conning Gato tower.
  14. GASO.LINE 1/48 GMC DUKW "Duck" A resin kit Fourth and final CCKW variant, the DUKW. The model is OOB with the addition of some brass wire for eyes, clear Evergreen sheet for the windshield, and a spare decal from a Tamiya CCKW. My usual finishing suspects were used, Mr.Color's OD color modulation set, Mr.Color Tire Black, and various AK Interactive 3rd-gen for details. I used Winsor & Newton Matt UV Varnish for the first time and I'm loving it! The build thread
  15. Finished! Many thanks to @Robert Stuart, @JeroenS, @Pete in Lincs, and @bigfoot for this GB and your comments. I'm especially happy that I completed 4 builds--normally I'm lucky to get a build done. And here's my current CCKW family portrait. BTW, I used Winsor & Newton Artists' Acrylic Matt UV Varnish for the first time on this. Wonderful stuff! I even went back over the other CCKWs as well as some Shermans and a few other vehicles.
  16. That looks good! From here, it looks many successful!
  17. Wine, beer, food, and travel. Oh, you poor thing. Wishes for a speedy recovery. 😛
  18. Sounds like a plan. Grumman's Panther and Cougar spring to mind. The stash would be able to offer up others.
  19. And The Decal is on Exactly one, from an unused Tamiya CCKW scheme. A matt clearcoat is yet needed, and finally those oh-so-fragile side mirrors and tarp frame. While I've painted the tarp, I'm not yet sold on keeping it. Here's the blunter end Thanks for looking.
  20. I have a bottle of AK Acrylic Thinner for their 3rd-gen. Water also works. I've never liked airbrushing acrylics, but I've never tried the 3rd-gen. I really really like airbrushing Mr.Color.
  21. Wow, that's sweet! I expect decals over those curves would have been a nightmare with any decals.
  22. My current fave for details is AK Interactive 3rd-gen water-soluble acrylic, which I apply over Mr.Color lacquers. While I use water-soluble matt and satin clearcoats over everthing, I also use Mr.Color gloss clearcoat over everything when appropriate.
