Seeking references for Beach 18’s at Pearl Harbor
dnl42 replied to 28ZComeback's topic in Aircraft WWII
Try this site, https://aviation.hawaii.gov/ This might be useful, too https://guides.library.manoa.hawaii.edu/c.php?g=105615&p=683499 I found a treasure trove of relevant photos for my pre-war JRF at Wheeler field, including a photo of my subject that allowed me, well allowed Dana Bell, to identify the correct colors despite Czech Models' erroneous color guide. I'm not sure if the 1st URL above is the site I found at the time as I'm away from home. HTH, dnl -

I ordered decals for a kit from hobbydna this morning. Search for the kit number and then press the "parts:decals" button under "attributes". They also show a "parts:PE" button. Shipping was $11.75, but the total is still cheaper than getting the kit on the 2nd-hand market.

LCM3 PA13-2, Operation Overlord -- Finished

I tried to find the image again, but Getty's search capabilities are 💩. The as-downloaded filename is 'gettyimages-50488369-1024x1024.jpg'. PM your emal addr and I'll send the full image. Good luck with the kit, and consider it a basis for your build. -
Aurora 1/48 Douglas M-2 Mailplane

Nice! I have one in the stash and it's nice to see how good it could be. -
I curious how this other approach works out That '[email protected]' didn't work so well for me. The email transaction seemed to go well enough, I ordered the decal sheet I wanted, and received a tracking number via email. What happened next was absurd: the China parcel tracking system showed the item ping-poning around China for over a month, never getting onto a US-bound aircraft. Radio silence from the email address. I eventually got fed up with it and contacted Paypal for a refund, which eventually came some time later..

Nice! I built the 415! Amodel have excellent subjects, but you will do serious modeling to get them to that fine standard you've shown. Love the Catalina in those colors! -
Well, this is interesting. I was at LHS/LMS yesterday looking through the back room pile of kits and other bits. And what did I spy with my little eye? Academy's P-47N kit, 2155, for the princely sum of $9.97! The kit was in a pile of "previously started' kits. Looking at the contents, it appears the only work was to remove parts from the A (fuselage) and B (wings) runners; otherwise it looks complete. The decals appear to be in good shape. They're for "GERRY", 456th Fighter Squaron, 414th Fighter Group, Iwo Jima, August 1945. I also snagged Super Scale decal sheet 48-490, with markings for "2 BIG And Too HEAVY/SHORT SNORTER" from the 333rd FIghter Squafron, 318th Fighter Group, Ie Shima, 1945 for another $5.97. The kit looks to be fairly simple--about my speed. I think I have some metal gun barrels.

That is some fine looking metal bending! Looks spot on.

Looking forward to this! Your mods for the Britsh version are quite interesting. -
Those look excellent! I particularly like how the pattern wraps around the edge, as it should. Perhaps not including the tenon in the part would better enable you to square up the ends and align the pattern so that it appears continuous.. Some plain sheet could then be used as a 'biscuit'.

Excellent. These photos would not appear out of place in a walk-around section. -

In her defense, this was a 'world history' question. Having written that, it doesn't get better here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJlY9C7YWzI
