  1. That is for sure no gold, but typical Kinetic.... 1 thing I learned from their kits, is that fit can be perfect, but it takes a lot of dry-fitting, sanding it slightly to allow for proper fitting, dryfitting, and when it all falls together... maybe some glue... A lot of preparation, but in the end, you'll have a splendid kit, no shake and bake... Further complications are that you need to study your references very good, visually identify the necessary pieces for the version you want to build, it's mostly all present, but not indicated...
  2. Thx, I think the best approach is to look at it as just another kit, more delicate parts, but it seems these are well engineered according to the reviews.
  3. Looking good, the dark underwing surface, is that for aerial recognition?
  4. nice progress, soon you won't need a basekit anymore...
  5. I was also unaware that Grumman had something to do with these... Will you build it mostly out of the box, or will you add some details to the legs etc...
  6. This groupbuild seems like an excellent excuse to start this one: The box: Content: and some resin too:
  7. Nice subject and a lot of them goodies... I'm in
  8. godspeed with this one... nice trio
  9. Nice work so far... nice 'n tiny....
  10. These kits are nice, expensive but nice... So if you really want to try, give it a go. This is my first all resin kit, doesn't look to bad so far, and I'm not the most te modeler around. After dryfitting other kits, it does seem the shrinkage is more of an exception.
  11. Nice start, but preshade with black isn't necessary IMHO, when you really want to preshade and you have a pale camo, then use less stark colors then black... With regards to preshade, not really a fan of it (in my opinion it isn't realistic), the marbling looks good
  12. Nice cockpit... what's the difference between the Kinetic gold and the regular Kinetic kits?
  13. Nice work, little steps also lead to the endpoint..
  14. So I decided to bite the pill and saw the windshield in three parts to thicken it (stupid me, saw too late that the square opening above the window was moved on one side only, stupid youthfull enthusiasm): Then the sanding an scraping started to restore the detail: After some testlayers with black paint (or silver, works even better to make the faults pop-out) and further sanding (to be repeated as necessary) this is what I got: Me happy
  15. Interesting conversion, splendid subject, and work, what could one want more... Thx Israƫl for these pics, some nice subjects in there...
  16. The OSA-AKM (Also known as the SA-8 Ghecko or 9K33 Osa was the first mobile air defence unit incorporating it's engagement radars. It was a SAM (Surface to Air Missile) launcher first build around 1971, and could independently or in in combination with long distance radars detect, trace and engage enemy aircraft. The vehicle is fully amphibic and has a range of 500kms. The radar incorporated is a 1S51M3-2 radar, based on a naval radar, but simplified, because there was no need for stabilisation, etc... The system also has a elliptical search-radar on top with a 30km range, and a pulsating attack-radar below with a range of 20km. On both sides there are two smaller radars that can track and guide the missiles. That way two missiles can be guide to the target simultanious. There can also an electro-optical tracker, in case the radar has been jammed by ECM. The AKM version is the latest version and can launch radar- and wireguided missiles, the range of the missiles is extended from 9km to 15km This system is mainly fielded by Russia and Warshaupact-countries (as such a bit of a symbol from the cold war), but also by Greece (ex-DDR), Cuba, Syria, Ecuador, Irac, Angola ... Only in 1987 they managed to conquer one battery intact to examine. In the current Syrian war the system has been used by the jihadis and has been used succesfully till these were destroyed or conquered. According to various sources they managed to operate these systems by means of online tutorials... Enough history, on to the kit and a bit of PE for radars and windscreen wipers. My status: and the supports for the launcher containers, I'm busy thinning these down a bit, because due to the resin, they are massive... They should be thinned some more, but... then the main problem area: the windshield... that part is approx. 1.5mm smaller then the hull, and I really don't know how to cope with that... the roof is a flush fit front to back...
  17. it was a very pleasant journey straight to the end of this project... glad to learn a few tricks end it's a very nice build...
  18. yeah, but it's good to have a pinpoint to some warnings....
  19. maybe just a slight sanding... but to be honest... I'm jealous... I want this result to replicate anti-slip in 1/72... and I never get this result...
  20. You're forgetting about their Mr surfacer 1500 black primer.... pure gold...
