Thank you guy's,
yesterday's work was making the base of the yardarms. The idea of how to do it was somewhat different then the execution, but in the end..
Only a few arms to add, but these will be glued. Drew some templates for bending the 0.2mm wire. Next up I soldered the spacers, then made the upwards bends, Soldering the ends together, desoldered the top platform of the tower, and reattached it with the upper mast fixed to it. Then had to repeat it for the lower arms, and kindly look at my girlfriend to ask for some aid... When doing such stuff you'd like to be more octopuslike ;-), or in short, I was missing a hand (or two)

This build concerns not really a ship, but a ship-like fortress that was built to provide a defence of the Manilla harbor in the Philipines.
Fort Drum was a heavily fortified island at the mouth of the Manilla Bay in the Philipines. Construction was started in 1909,( after the American Captured Manilla from the Spanish, and decided all key harbors needed some defence), and ended 5years later)
The Island El Fraile was leveled and a large ship-like concrete bunker was constructed, armed with 2 dual 14" ship guns, 2 casemates with 2x6" guns and 2 3" air defence guns. Later a 3" gun was added to protect the rear of the fort.
The forward turret had a traverse of 230°, the upper turret had a 360° traverse (except when some temporary barracks were constructed). Rhe roof was 6m reinforced concrete, and the walls varried in thickness between 7 and 11m thickness, which made it almost impregnable in case of an attack from sea.
Outer dimensions were 110m in length, 44m wide, a top deck 12m above sea-level, a 16m high latice tower for searchlights and areals. There was a complement of 240 officers and personel garrissoned inside, though some temporary barracks were erected on top of the fort.
During the Japanese conquest in 1941 the Barracks were removed to provide an unobstructed view. January second 1942 the fort was attacked the first time by an aerial bombardment. January 13th the fort was the first to counterfire when the Japanese wanted too scout the weaker rear of the fort. From february on the fort was continuously shelled by 150mm guns and 240mm heavy mortars, which destroyed an air defence gun and 1 of the 6" guns. On may 6th the fort eventually surrendered. The 14" main guns were never out of action, but were destroyed shortly before surrendering.
With the tides of war changing in 1944, the fortress was the last fort occupied by the Japanese. The top was easy taken, but the Japanese remained inside. The Americans pumped 9500l gasoline and diesel mixture in a vent and ignited it. The blast was so powerfull that large parts of the out wall were destroyed and a 1 tonne hatch was lifted some 300m into the sky. The was such that it took five days to cool before it could be entered. The Japanese garrisson never had a chance. The fortress was essentialy completely destroyed in this way.

very nice. With some delicate PE that keeps deforming after bending (eventually leading to breaking) I tend to reinforce the angle with a tad of solder as reinforcement. Even a little lyer makes a whole difference.
That said... Superb work!!!!

The hubby thinks a few moments and then says he will pay the 5000£, to which the funeral guys tells asks him if really doesn't want his wife burried in sacred ground and save a lot of money...
And the hubby says: some mere 2000years ago you burried here some fellow, and after 3 days he returned.. I won't take that chance

A farmer needed to buy a rooster for his chickens Another man had a rooster for sale. The farmer goes to buy the rooster. The man tells him this is Brewster, he will service your chickens, but he is a sex addict and will go after anything.

After a week of Brewster going after every animal on the farm, the farmer comes out and sees Brewster laid out in the yard, vultures are already circling. The farmer, cussing, tells the corpse of his rooster, “I told you you'd kill yourself if you didn't stop your sex crazed ways.”
Brewster opens one eys and says, “Shut up, they're about to land.”

@Old pro looking good... Nice work with the tilted transport lock. Something to keep in mind. Seems like the same problem occured on their 1/35 version of this launcher with the missiles being too nimble...

The Sa-6 (AKA SAM-6 or 2K12 KUB) is a Russian ground to air missile system for low and medium altitudes.
Construction started in 1958 and was supposed to engage targets operating between 100m and 7km heigt, up to a distance of 20km. After some initial troubles, the system was tested from 1959 to 1966, and went into production from 1967 onwards. In 1971 it was upgraded to the M1 variant (larger range, shorter reactiontime, more resilient to countermeasures and relyability. Between 1974 and 1976 it was further upgraded to the M3 variant.
The kit.
The basis is the Tumpeter kit, and a MMK upgrade is added:

at first sight I've thought the MMK lower hull was the same as the kit part
But the position of the axles for the wheels is totally different
The kit-tracks are in 1 piece and lack a row of guide horns, holes etc...:
and also a new running gear:
The missles are also a tad thicker, and longer, wings have a more correct profile
Construction so far:
The cylinders at the back were slightly scraped to add some depth:
The molded on hinge axles were replaced by copper wire
Handles were removed and replaced
Same for the backside:

also replaced some stuff with copper wire
and drilled some holes to replicate tubing

This project will end, but not in time for the groupbuild unfortunately. My girlfriend is healing good now, but only the last week she was able to walk again without the aid of a wheelchair, so I've been helping her the best I could, also to give her some quality time. I've only managed to apply the tape for the first layer of green, but haven't been able to apply it so far.
