  1. PK 571 Dornier DO-X I came across this on eBay, but I don’t think it’s in the list, I certainly don’t see anyone building one either would it be eligible?
  2. Well tbh there are two, technically three as there is a second branch of one of the two city shops in the suburbs of Dublin.
  3. Noticed this on a decal sheet from an ESCI F100 ( bought for the Century fighters GB) that I have set out to bleach back to clear on my windowsill. Might make a copy and use it for the main ip on the fury.
  4. A bit more progress. On the left is the fuselage, now with cowling, and on the right is the start of the buck for the cheeks and upper decking. Also based on the photo above my scale drawings are clearly incorrect, so I will be shaping the nose area as per the photo not my plans.
  5. No it was beadalon wildfire with eylets which is for beading and it tends to sag a bit. Works ok with through holes but never really tensioned well with eylets and turnbuckles. These days I use monofilament or EZ line as the mood takes me and they’re both much easier to tension. As on my Airfix swordfish. Someday if I’m feeling brave I may revisit my older biplanes with monofilament. Actually one of the jobs I’ve been putting off for ages is repairing my Gamecock which will probably need to be rerigged. @aharris57 apologies if I’m hijacking your thread.
  6. Right you are. I obviously incorrectly assumed that any camo in a fury was added at the time of the Munich crises.
  7. Fantastic work as usual. Can’t believe I nearly missed this. Will follow along with interest.
  8. As far as I know the Airfix fury has the cockpit opening in the wrong place and the instrument panel is for a Demon not a fury. I built one a year or two ago and just used copious amounts of filler to smooth out the nose area. I also used bare metal for the nose. I did mine in a Munich crises scheme.
  9. Plastic has been stuck together. The wing blanks need to be shaped and skinned next. I also need to figure out how I’ll handle the ‘cheeks’ and the upper decking. ( probably need to mold both) Definitely molded and probably multiple parts, quite a complex shape.
  10. Lovely work as usual Adrian. If I didn’t have so many builds on the go I’d be tempted to dust off my SPAD or one of the several Nieuports I have in my stash. I think I did say if I build the Nieuport I’d have a go at a Siemens shuckers DIII as well, hmm maybe later in the year. On the subject of size, as most of the models I make are WWI or interwar they’re generally quite small so my default scale is 1/48; for example the wingspan of my salamander in 1/48 is 200mm which is about the same size as a modern jet in 1/72. Conversely my default for modern jets is 1/144. If you take the smallest 1:48 WWI fighter in my collection it’s not that much bigger than the biggest 1/144 jet
  11. Well seeing as the first is on James ‘s street and the second is down the road at James gate you wouldn’t have to travel all that far between them The only caveat being that neither are exactly the most salubrious parts of the city, I console myself by the fact that I am trained in self defence Me, I need a good excuse to make my semi annual pilgrimage to the Dublin model shops.
  12. Plastic has been cut. I’m going to cut a slot in both wings and set a brass rod in then score the wing and set the diehedral, before skinning the wing in lined 10 thou card. It’s the same method I used for the Sage and gives a sturdy result that’s easy to set correctly. In case you’ve noticed the different wing profile from the plan, I’m modelling one of the early prototypes that had unbalanced ailerons so as to be able to finish it in the experimental camouflage scheme above. Fuselage blanks next. I’ll probably need to mold a cowl and the foredeck/turtledeck. On the TF1 front all trenches and molded insignia have been sanded off. Need to find a few extra lewises from the spares box.
  13. There was a Helicopter/VSTOL GB in 2020 so next year would be three years and I reckon this would be a fun GB to revisit. Personally it’ll be an excuse to dust off my Hawk Lysander and the sole helicopter in my stash oh and of course a Fieseler Storch if the Reconnaissance GB doesn’t fly (so to speak) So the proposal: anything short or vertical takeoff from catapult launched Sopwith Camels through to F35s ( there’s a version with VTOL capability, isn’t there ?) with anything in between. This one gets in on a technicality.it’s a Sopwith Camel modified to be dropped from an airship. Takeoffs don’t get any shorter than that…. Yes VTOL F35 Any takers? 1. me (of course) 2. @Corsairfoxfouruncle 3. @Mig Eater 4. @ArnoldAmbrose 5. @helios16v 6. @theplasticsurgeon 7. @zebra 8. @Rob S 9. @JOCKNEY 10. @CliffB 11. @desert falcon 12. @Dermo245 13. @Col. 14. @Mr T 15. @Jabba 16. @Tim R-T-C 17. @Evil_Toast_RSA 18. @Hewy 19. @Jb65rams 20. @Bobby No Mac 21. @Arniec 22. @Prenton 23. @Scargsy 24. @Dansk 25. @Andwil 26. @exdraken 27. @DaveJL 28. @arfa1983 29. @John Masters 30. @bianfuxia 31. @Colin W 32. @Hockeyboy76
  14. Now I’m getting confused with all the fury threads, sigh And I’m still humming Yngwie J Malmstien ( my favourite shredder ) to myself.
  15. Last but not least of my suggestions. I still think this could make for an interesting and diverse GB, anyone else?
  16. 2023 needs some armour and I need an excuse to buy a hetzer you know you want to! Yes I am being naughty and shamelessly bumping my threads.
  17. Can’t let this one get away, who’s still interested?
  18. If you check eBay they’re going for similarly silly prices. Of course this GB has probably had an effect too. I do think that kit prices have risen rapidly in the last year anyway. My local art and hobby is looking for €17.99 for the Airfix 1/72 typhoon and €32.95 (ouch) for The Revell 1/72 mavericks f18 ( which doesn’t even have an undercarriage) The only saving grace is the toy shop down the road which recently got a consignment of varied, interesting and reasonably priced ( so much so I think they were mispriced e.g. I got a 1/35 challenger for €28) kits in. Sadly except for a nice 1/48 mig 15 that I have my eye on they’re now almost all gone.
  19. Loving this GB so nice to build see so many kits I built during my childhood being built again. Although now that I think of it my two entries so far are kits I’ve never built before. I don’t suppose there’s a missing list as I probably wouldn’t mind builds by a few more before June and don’t want to be the tenth fury or the twentieth 109 and there’s a model shop in Dublin that specialises in old kits that probably has many matchbox kits on its shelves.
  20. Actually the fit was pretty good and I think most of the filling was self inflicted, by not fettling the ip down enough. My weapons of choice madworks carving guide tape and a steel tipped scribe I also use an RBtools scribe -R and I have a rivet-r hidden away somewhere. Mind as most of my builds are vintage aircraft I normally only have the odd aileron to do.
  21. Trust me the rescribing will be a long, slow and painful process
