I had several issues in the past with Revell too, should I shake the bottle to get the liquid inside to mix? Maybe that helps a bit. I tried Airfix once (the one with the brush), but its not very precise when one has to apply the glue. Tamiya isn´t available here, what liquid glue would you recommend?
-
I used the same bottle of glue (Revell Contacta) with my previous four models (two were also Hasegawa Fw 190s), and I didn´t have any issues with it, could the plastic have had issues in the two areas I mentioned?
-
It was Hasegawa´s Fw 190 in 1:48 and I was using Revell Contacta (with the applicator needle). The weird thing is that I used the same glue for my other four models, and none of them had any issues (I was extra careful to avoid spreading too much glue).

1/72 Mirage 50CN Pantera High Planes Models
Sturmovik replied to adrianm2's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I saw two Panteras while I was visiting Santiago de Chile´s Museo del Aire y del Espacio, one has canards and the other one is the regular looking Mirage. Your kit looks splendid. -
1:32 JunkersJu-52/3m "Tante Ju" by Hong Kong (HK) Models 3D renders

I bet they´d take a huge display space, and be a tad pricy. -
1:32 JunkersJu-52/3m "Tante Ju" by Hong Kong (HK) Models 3D renders
Sturmovik replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
I guess HK will use a large wingspar to keep the wings levelled. Obviously this´ll be a military version, but what are the chances of a civilian Ju 52 in 32nd seeing the light? -
I was giving my 1:48 Hasegawa Fw 190 the finishing touches, when I noticed that the right side landing gear was moving more than usual, as if the mounting peg had melted at the base to the landing gear because of the glue. I solved it by adding some superglue to the hole of the landing gear and holding it to avoid more movement. This also happened with the pitot tube, I put a dab of glue on the hole, added the tube, but it never dried, it kept moving everywhere. That was also solved by adding CA. Now, this is my third Fw 190, and nothing like what was written above happened to the first two aircraft, and I didn´t add much glue to the pieces, what could have possibly gone wrong? Any suggestions to avoid this happening again? I used Revell´s glue. Thank you all.

Eduard Fw.190A-3 Build Review 1:48
Sturmovik replied to Mike's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Looks awesome. One aircraft, many paint schemes. I really like how Eduard went back and thought the kit again to make it more modeller-friendly, or at least less intimidating to the average modeller. -
Thanks, I want to build a Tamiya aircraft, but the stories about the decals put me off.

Ta 152H colours: Is there a definitive answer?
Sturmovik replied to Brian J's topic in Aircraft WWII
Just to know, how would a dark blue painted on the upper surfaces of an aircraft be a good camouflage colour? -
Looks great! Did you use the kit´s decals?
-
I´m back on track now, the aircraft has been completely painted and the gloss varnish has been applied. I may start with the decals this Saturday because of the time constraints I have tomorrow. The aircraft will be painted as Egon Meyer´s mount.

One has to have lots of patience to mask the canopies of both aircraft in 1:72, I don´t imagine someone doing it in 1:200.
-
Excellent paint work! The landing gear arrangement isn´t as difficult to build as it seems after one test fits the pieces and glues once.

Does this help? Or did you already check this link? https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/aircrafts-2-3/b-17-flying-fortress/fortress-b-mk-iii-raf-b-17/

@Corsairfoxfouruncle you bet, one doesn´t make the same mistake twice. I´ve decided to leave the canopy alone, I don´t want to risk it, maybe for the next time (when I find the proper sandpapers and that minisaw that replaces the knife on the xacto).

Thanks for the link, but I´ll keep waiting for a mainstream release, I´m not confident enough to make a resin conversion yet.

After not posting for some time, I have news. I´ve managed to locally find an Aeromaster sheet from which I´ll use only the upper crosses, leaving the others for other aircraft (the sheet has decals for Hajo Herrman´s A-6 nightfighter and for other three late war Fw 190A-8s). Here´s the unpainted model with the decal sheet below it. Something that struck me yesterday is that I could have measured the decal that went above the yellow band, and masked the area accordingly. I would have saved myself all this trouble. Things you learn I guess.

With the release of the Meteor F.8, F.8 Korean War and this soon to be released FR.9, how big are the possibilities of Airfix making a Meteor F Mk.4? I fancy building one of those in the Fuerza Aérea Argentina colours.

Hello all, I was applying the decals to my Hasegawa Fw 190A-5 in 1:48 when I found out the yellow band I had painted (not included in the WIP link) was too wide. Having thought about what to do, I decided to wipe the model clean and start again (I´m missing the two upper crosses now to make the second version of the model), which brings me to the question, are the upper crosses on the wings of both the Fw 190A and Bf 109G of the same size? I´m talking about the ones with only the white outline. If they´re of the same size, I´ll be able to buy Academy´s new Bf 109G-2/G-6 and use those decals for my Fw 190A, if not, I´ll have to buy decals or another Fw 190 from abroad (and buying something from abroad is a rather difficult thing here). Thank you very much.

I wrote an article for Modelling Madness about Revell´s 1:72 Ju 87D/G: http://modelingmadness.com/review/axis/luft/santoro87g.htm, I hope my article is useful when you decide to build it. The only issue I remember having was with the wingtips, which had a ridge/gap when glued into the wings and with the upper crosses (the ones that aren´t a pure white outline), which were out of register.

Imperial War Museum London´s Fw 190A-8
Sturmovik replied to Sturmovik's topic in Aviation Photography
It´s hard to track down without a build number, last year I found the story of the Me 262A-1a that is on display at the RAF Hendon Museum in London as a PDF. Really interesting.- 7 replies

Imperial War Museum London´s Fw 190A-8
Sturmovik replied to Sturmovik's topic in Aviation Photography
@iainpeden I edited the title, I always thought the London museum was the Duxford one. I may try to go to the real Duxford museum if I go back to the UK. No problem Max, though it looks like a regular A-8, since it doesn´t have the connection points for the other half of the Mistel device. Army_Air_Force was that the original camouflage of the aircraft or was it a repaint?- 7 replies

I´ll try to see if I find that grade of sand paper. How do you progress with the grades, 1000, 1500 and 2000?
