@Howard Moon thanks, I´ll write that down on my list for an eventual build of the F-8.
-
12 days and both aircraft are almost completed, nice job.
Did the guns give you fit problems when you tried to attach the gun covers?
-
I bought this kit twice and never got to finish it decently, yours looks really nice.

@Homebee I´ll put the link on top, thanks for sharing it.

Is there a release date on this? Link is dead.
I didn´t read any release datem, but judging for the sprues photos, I´d say the model is soon to be sold.
The link was a redirection to another Facebook page with the same image, so you didn´t miss anything.

For both Mikes, I´ll follow both and buy one, I instantly liked the aircraft as soon as I saw one built in Modelling Madness. It´ll look great together with my Fw 190s (two more incoming).

Depends on the model, when I built Trumpeter´s Me 262 in 32nd I used one 100 grams weight cut in half with a razor saw and glued to the forward bulkhead with epoxy glue, but when I build Hobbycraft´s Skyhawk, I used smaller, lighter, and cylindrically shaped weights and also cut with a razorsaw.

@LanceB I don´t know much about photoetch, so I can´t comment much on that area.
-
Following this topic, really interesting watching this kits being built.

Photo taken originally from Facebook, this link was provided by @Homebee.
If I ever come across with this kit, I´ll make sure to buy one. Or two.
The image shows masks for the canopy and wheels, photoetch parts (Eduard maybe?), and a decal sheet with options for eight aircraft (you can´t leave aside Erich Hartmann, the ace of aces).

Thanks for sharing Sturmovik, great photo's.
One small thing the JP, Black J396 isn't! it's a Cessna T37 'Tweet'.
Paul
Corrected, the Provost and the T37 look similar.
-
Don´t let that setback your build, begin painting the model, and when the replacement arrives, you´ll only have to spend a couple of minutes on it before gluing it and finishing the kit.

Here are some photos I took while I was visiting Santiago de Chile´s Museo del Aire y del Espacio. It can be easily reached by using the underground´s Line 6 and dropping off at Los Cerrillos station.
The aircraft that greets you at the station, a Cessna T37 "Tweet" coded Black J-396:
Somehow this photo ended up in 256x256:

Such a waste of a rare airframe. Thank you for sharing.
This year will mark the 10th aniversary of this aircraft as a gate guardian, it was in mint condition 10 years ago.

Did you remove all the paint from the undercarriage leg pin and mounting hole, pitot and mounting hole before gluing? Contacta and other thick solvent glues aren't really hot enough to thoroughly melt through layers of paint and without that you're left with a little bit of dried out flexible filler holding the part
Shane
I remember the mounting peg not having a lot of paint on it, but the hole was covered with paint, could that have been the reason?

Net and clean model!
I have to say, though, that given the choice, I'd rather skip lame FB than complete a model lacking a vital aspect of historical accuracy.
Btw, isn't this the machine that Major Mayer used to more or less shoot down lt Robert Johnson's already damaged Thunderbolt over France, but ran out of ammo and is alleged to have flown up to salute Johnson before turning back?
Kind regards,
Joachim
I have no idea, maybe this link will answer your interesting question: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/archive/index.php?t-9598.html

I'm a bit old for Facebook anyway, especially with all the latest pitfalls that seem to be implicit in being involved with this otherwise useful social media tool for those still gainfully employed. However, this is another example of the "tick the boxes to maintain PC compatibility" that has no place within the historical model fraternity. Your model and the skills involved look great but the hakenkreuz has relevance in this contect whatever Facebokk guidelines say. However fascist resurgence is developing and however much this is making the swastika abhorrent to many (I guess), it has little relevance to our modelling community for whom historical accuracy is the barometer that we generally use as our guideline, whatever the PC brigade feel. No controversy intended, merely my personal observation. Paul
I´m going to tell you the truth, not adding the Swastika is something that goes back to when I was younger (16 years old). I began building, and my mum didn´t wan´t to see the Swastika, so I never put it on the German aircraft I built. I also grew up with Revell Germany models, so it´s kind of sticked to me.
Now that I´m 22, I understand where you´re coming from regarding accuracy, but combine what I wrote above and that I don´t want to have my main Facebook account suspended because of a "ToS violation" (thus leaving me out of my main account, plane spotting account, and modelling page), and you´ll get why I don´t add it.

Does that count as another victory for Egon Mayer?
Anyway I really like it. I think the early FW190 colour schemes are my favourite.
Half a victory, I came out alive.

Here are two photos I took while I was going back to MDQ´s airport for my return trip to Buenos Aires.
Translated from this link:
First flown in England on April 4th 1948.
Assigned to the 4th Interceptor-Fighter Regiment (Regimiento de Caza Interceptora) as I-073.
Flight of acceptance in Argentina on September 19th 1949.
Transferred to the 3rd Interceptor-Fighter group and re-registered as C-073.
Discharged on December 30th 1970 due to flying hours limit, being the Gloster with most flight hours on the Air Force.
It´s now a gate guardian on the entrance to the BAM MDQ with the fictional registration of I-071.

Scratches can be seen even with a 1200 sandpaper? Guess I´ll have to go a car repair/paint shop and ask for higher grits then.
I have something of a "spare model" (1/300 Concorde, sanded the entire surface with 600 and then 1200), I´ll see if there´re any scratch markings left when I paint it.

Hello,
As written in the title, would light colours (yellow, red, white, light blue) have a better grip to the plastic surface if I wet sanded the area to be painted with a fine sandpaper (1200)?
I´m trying to find ideas to reduce the required coats of paint needed to fully cover some areas.
Thanks.

Nice modelling, but to my eye it sort of looks a bit odd without a hakenkreuz on the tail.

I also post on Facebook, and many people have been suspended for adding the swastika.

The framing looks fine, don´t worry too much about it.
