  1. You could always try brushing the paint with a wet brush to build up several coats of RLM 75, that´s what I would do.
  2. How close are you to the finish line with this model?
  3. Well, after thinking about it for some time, I decided to use the splintern camouflage of a regular bomber, so it´ll be painted in RLM 70/71/65, with the yellow bands included with the kit to make an aircraft operating in the Eastern Front from bases in Germany. The pattern for the camouflage has been outlined in pencil. Thank you all who gave me ideas.
  4. I would like to receive some suggestions to paint a camouflage for this aircraft. Having a complete lack of imagination, I thought on the following options: 1) A night bomber, painted with solid lower and upper colours, with yellow rudders (maybe RLM 22 and 74, no mottling). 2) A bomber with the normal Luftwaffe splinter camouflage. But I don´t know how to invent a splintern pattern and be happy with it. 3) A bomber with a late Luftwaffe camouflage, painted in RLM 65 and RLM 70 or 82. 4) A completely painted bomber in RLM 65, covered with lots of RLM 75 and 74 mottles on the upper surface (basically the aircraft on the painting instructions).
  5. Great build, my favourite photo of the finished model is the fourth one.
  6. @Corsairfoxfouruncle in that case, a German Corsair would look nice, just like the Messerspit.
  7. Maybe make a Japanese Corsair. Just to stay more or less accurate in the theatre of this aircraft.
  8. I wish for an Academy reboxing of the Hobbycraft Buchon, or a completely new tool Buchon with decals for the BoB movie.
  9. I hope the A-8 have a better fit on the gear doors, because overall the model is very nice.
  10. But Contacta won´t damage the Airfix part right?
  11. Looking at Scalemates, Hase´s reboxing of DML´s kit are the Fw 190A-3 JG26 09208 and Fw 190A-3 09205. Hase´s new tool Fw 190A is coded as 09090, and every 190 boxing onwards has been Hasegawa molds.
  12. I´ll have to search for one of those razor saws, or just use my Xacto as a knife and slice the pieces slowly from the sprue. Do you think Revell Contacta will work well with the soft plastic?
  13. So far I´ve built the A-5/U7 Graf Special, the Japanese Army version, the 09798 boxing, and I have yet to build the Sturmstaffel 1 and the JT94 boxings (all in 1:48), but I don´t know the type of moulding or from which company they´re from. All of the three I´ve built had the issue with the main landing gear door not fitting inside the wing.
  14. Fast forward to this day, I bought Airfix´s model, and it looks great, nice decals, no flash, etc... But one of my main criticisms is the size of some sprue gates, particularly the ones on the slats, which literally are part of the slat itself.
  15. @Charlie Hugo sorry for not answering earlier, notifications don´t show up. Regarding the landing gear doors, thanks for confirming what I´ve been doing (cutting the doors to make them fit). I wonder if someone managed to install them without trimming them?
  16. @Twentecable I was younger and didn´t know how to put the decals, and both times I built the model I broke the cooling fan, because the fans are attached to the spruegates.
  17. Nice job, I never managed to fully finish mine. How did you keep intact the cooling fan?
  18. @Romeo Alpha Yankee that´s a fun coincidence! 13 years is really a long time.
  19. @FalkeEins I looked up the aircraft´s build number, 110400, and I get results of a White 4 as being Nowotny´s aircraft, do you know anything about that?
  20. @Turbofan take a look at this link: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/62812-qantas-orange/
  21. I´m planning to paint the same scheme for my 1:48 version, which has the same box art of the 1:72.
  22. Looks like orange to me, would you like me to look up for paint brands?
  23. Added a second photo, the engine intakes seem to be yellow, but the slat is in unpainted metal or something.
  24. I found this image while searching for Heinz Bär´s Me 262. I think it´s Nowotny´s aircraft because of the 8 in front of the cockpit and the yellow band behind it, said band was present on the Me 262´s assigned to Kommando Nowotny. Notice that the aircraft has mottling behind the cockpit instead of a splintern pattern. Edit: I added a second picture.
