Yes, they´re the kit´s decals.

My first attemp to an A-8 Fw 190. I think it came out pretty well. Decals were more brittle than usual, the red bars breaking a bit while I moved them into possition. They were touched up with Revell red 36, which was a surprisingly good match to the decal´s colour. Spinner spiral was hand painted. Markings are for Ernst Schröder´s Fw 190A-8.

Sad to hear what happened to the spinning props idea, but at least you aren´t disheartened by it. Regarding the paint, maybe you can avoid that issue by giving it more time to dry.

I built the SM 79 when I was younger, I don´t remember it having bad fit, other than the ones self induced because of my use of tube glue. Thanks to you, I want to build it again.

Steve's actually done another Jet..

I lost my chance of getting Hasegawa´s 48th version, so I´ll get the 72nd one from Hobby Boss and paint it as your aircraft, the tulips look really good. Where did you put the weights for the model? -
Revell 1/48 F-86D Sabre Dog
Sturmovik replied to Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I don´t really like this version of the F-86 due to the intake, but the shark mouth makes it great! -
What else does Airfix need in order to send you a new fuselage half? You´ve already sent photos of the defective piece. Revell Germany would have solved this issue without asking more questions. You still can glue plasticard above the damaged area and then fill and rescribe it though, that´s the bright side of this.

You could buy Hobby Boss´s 1:35 Fieseler Storch to make company to that tank.

Another thing you can try is to glue a strip of flat sprue under the affected area, and fill it with CA once the fuselage halves are attached to each other. Then you can rescribe if there´re any panel lines.

Looks good. -
Nicely done model.

I guess it´s bad luck, I have Airfix´s Bf 109E-4 in 48 also manufactured in India, and I haven´t found any short shot parts or other moulding defects. Maybe you could write to Hornby and ask for a spare fuselage for that model (is it a Canberra?)

@Corsairfoxfouruncle thanks, I was missing a Messerschmitt on my display cabinet! @Oberleutnant yours will look much better with all the mottling, Hasegawa missed it on the tail. On the contrary, the hardest part of the kit was the landing gear.

Photos of my latest model, a Bf 109G-6 with markings for Erich Hartmann´s aircraft. I used Hasegawa´s painting instructions instead of the kit supplied ones, and a real life photo to prove this aircraft didn´t have the fuel tank, its rack, and the two underwing cannons Hobby Boss tells you to use. Here´s the work in progress thread:

BF 109G-6 1/48 - My First Adult Build!
Sturmovik replied to Oberleutnant's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
It´s trial and error regarding the paint to be honest, but once the first coat of thinned paint is dry, then the other will cover much better. Before building my version of your model, I actually checked online (while I had the model in front of me) if the yellow decals for the tail were included, that´s how I base my model purchases, though I´ll get to paint the bands sometime in the future. -
BF 109G-6 1/48 - My First Adult Build!
Sturmovik replied to Oberleutnant's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Your mottling looks impressive, I´ll get to that stage sometime in the future. The best part is that the spine camouflage is a continous line, not having any "interruptions" (I hope you get what I´m saying, I can´t explain it better). If you don´t mind me giving you a modelling tip (though you may already know it) passed on to me by Troy Smith, use more water when brush painting, it´ll take some more time to cover the area you desire, but you´ll end up with a smoother paint job. I also had troubles with painting yellow, even when covering the area first with some light blue. -

Yes, the aircraft was glosscoated before adding the decals and then mattcoated, it´s one of the things I won´t forget about scale modelling.- 2 replies

What´s the function of part D8? Is it a supporting piece or can it be left aside and fix the propellers together with glue?

After looking at your aircraft, I realised I need to build some more Allied aircraft to pair them with my Fw 190s and Bf 109s. Excellent build!- 16 replies
