I built the 111P from Revell in 32nd, and can remember the fit being better than the one in their Ju 88A-1. Regarding which one to buy, depends on your tastes and display space. I'm currently on a phase of "big is better," so I'm saving up to buy the only available 111P on sale on Facebook (trusty seller).

Wingsy Kits A5M2b Claude Late version 1:48 Review Build
Sturmovik replied to Mike's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
It would ruin the shiny finish though, and I like how shiny it is. -
The Skyhawk has been painted. Light Grey uppers with White undersides. Plus Red slats and flaps bays. Time to gloss the plane and add the decals.

Doubtful. Calcas del Sur is a one man operation, they're too small to be stocked in big European hobby shops. You can contact the seller through Facebook or Instagram though, and he'll send them through Correo Argentino.

Calcas del Sur, a fairly new decal maker from Argentina, has released decal sets in 1:72 and 1:48 for the Hasegawa/Hobbycraft A-4M. There're options for several A-4ARs plus a single OA-4AR. Prices are 900 ARS for the 1:72 set and 1100 ARS for the 1:48 set. You can contact Calcas del Sur through Facebook's Messenger or Instagram.

Finding it difficult to track down a 1/48 A-4B Skyhawk.
Sturmovik replied to DrumBum's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Nice idea, it could become a widespread solution in the hands of someone with a 3D printer. -
Wings have been glued and the flaps attached. The wing fuel tanks have also been painted. These will need to be glossed too for the decals. It's starting to look like a Skyhawk.

Hello guys, In spite of saying I would be building this kit later this year, I just couldn't resist making s start after my first uni exam. The first thing I did was to glue and paint the fuel tanks and bomb racks. I then opened up the holes for the racks and glued the wings together. You can also see the slats with the rails glued. I ended up breaking one. Here are the fuselage halves next to the weight I'm planning to use. The epoxy I have was clogged by dry glue, but I was able to obtain some after applying some force. I later discovered I could have just unclogged the nozzle by using a toothpick. Cockpit painted. This is as far as I've gone yesterday. More progress, hopefully, today. Now, if you don't like this post, you'll receive coal for Christmas.

The Avia factory was the manufacturer of the Avia S-199, the Czechoslovak 109 paired with a DB 603 engine from the He 111s. Edit: Jumo 211.

The 109s, from A to K, have a panel line in the fuselage area where AZ tells you to sand. Maybe they wanted to write "scribe" instead of fill? Also, why mold rectangular radiators and then tell you to sand off a millimiter? Seems quite odd. Anyways, I'm sure the local 109 expert will tell us more. Then yellow it shall be painted!

Build Review Focke-Wulf Triebflügel (Amusing Hobby) 1:48
Sturmovik replied to Mike's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
@Mike did you ever finish this build? If so, are the decals a sticky mess (that can't be moved after applying), or are they easy to use? Thanks! -
One of the lesser known stories that happened 40 years ago during Malvinas/Falklands war, was the attempt from Argentina of replacing the lost A-4Qs from the Armada with retired stock A-4Es from the Israeli Air Force. The deal was to obtain 16 A-4Es with a cash purchase of 90 million dollars. The purchase happened, but the weapons embargo from the US to Argentina made impossible for Israel to ship the aircraft. Those 90 million dollars weren't lost though, since they were used, after the war, to modernise the S-2 Tracker to Turbotracker standard (at least that's what I was told earlier today). The kit is the Hobbycraft Douglas A-4E Skyhawk in Israeli markings, which won't be used. Instead, I'll be using a Condor Decals set for six A-4Q aircraft. My idea is to dress the plane up in the light grey/white colour scheme of the A-4Qs in Armada service. Loadout for the aircraft will be the two fuel tanks, and plenty of bombs on the central and outermost pylons. Here's the box and the decals: And, to prove I'm not lying about the story above, here's a colour photo of one A-4E with the low visibility scheme applied after the war. You can see the extended exhaust nozzle on both aircraft. My build plan is to start when I have my Winter Holidays. Which are three months away. Though I could try to begin building the aircraft sooner. We'll see.

Revell 1/32 P-51D-5NA Mustang
Sturmovik replied to Nikola Topalov's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Those are some really neat checkers. -
You mean there're more aircraft than the Bf 109G-6?
-
I think the upper model has the correct dihedral. I have, I think, 10 Spitfires from different marks and different brands, and all have a dihedral like the model on top.
-
If it's set to release in June, could it be a D-Day Allied aircraft? Maybe a Spitfire Mk.IX full of D-Day markings.

1/72 Hawker Tempest Mk. V by Airfix - release Autumn 2021
Sturmovik replied to Bjorn's topic in The Rumourmonger
"If the new Tempest is to satisfy undemanding and beginning children's modelers" Ah yes, the classic kit bashing from the many hexpurts of modelling. I won't be following your advice, and I'll be buying the Tempest V if I ever get the chance of visiting Hannants in London again. -

Money is made by the release of subjects that are already covered, that's why there're plenty of Mustangs, Bf 109s, Fw 190s, Spitfires and Hurricanes. The Hayate I think isn't that known outside the Japanese scale modelling world, so a new tool of it gave Arma the edge in that unknown market. The Hasegawa Hayate was originally tooled in 1967, a long time ago. Edit: 1987. Thanks Fukuryu!

Kosmosur3D's I.A.e 33 Pulqui 2 in 1:48
Sturmovik replied to Sturmovik's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Not quite. The Pulqui 2 had a lengthened fuselage with a Rolls Royce Nene II. The Ta 183 was shorter and was to be powered by either the Jumo 004 or BMW 003. The Pulqui also had speedbrakes, whereas the 183 didn't have them.- 7 replies
