  1. Great camouflage! I tried similar camo on a recent build, but struggled getting the right effect.
  2. Nice detail and weathering effects.
  3. Hi guys, here's my second attempt at model making, the Tamiya 1/35 Tiger 1 tank. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmggUQwj I initially intended to paint camouflage scheme used by panzer regiment in Italy September 1943, but couldn't perfect the fine airbrush technique for the two-tone colours. So I had to re-spray in desert scheme. I tried using Vallejo model air paint, but found this too thin to work with. The final finish was using Tamiya XF acrylic paints, which I found great to work with.
  4. 2 more pics added with newer mud effect (pics 6 & 7)
  5. The weathering effects you've applied look very good, and really capture a wet muddy look on the wheels and tracks. Nice work.
  6. Thanks Lloyd, much appreciated. I wasn't satisfied with the mud effects on the side skirts, so I tried a different technique on them yesterday, which looks better. I'll post some updated pics.
  7. Hi Terry I'm considering switching to Vallejo air paints which are ready mixed for use with airbrushes, rather than having mess around with paint mixes. Looking at the mass of excellent builds on here, there's lots of techniques I'd like to learn. I've already started on my next build, a Tiger 1 tank. I'd planned on doing a military airplane, but chose another tank after having enjoyed the Challenger.
  8. Thanks for all your positive comments! Terry I used Olive green and Black matt for the camouflage, both Revell aqua color acrylic paints. For the mud effects, Tamiya weathering powders mixed with thinners and water. It was a learning curve thinning the paints to the correct consistency for use in the airbrush, but think I finally got it right. Dave
  9. Thanks Rumblestripe. I've changed the link now. Hope it continues to work!
  10. What an excellent build! Not only am I impressed with the craftmanship, but the details too! How long did this take to complete?
  11. Thanks noeyedears. Much appreciated!
  12. My first attempt at model making. All comments and advice on improving my painting technique, are welcome. https://www.flickr.com/gp/140541791@N08/2y6p81
  13. Hi all I've recently purchased (beginning of Jan...long story!!) a Tamiya 1:35 scale Challenger 1 (mk3) Tank, and finally completed it yesterday. Considering it's my first attempt, I'm quite pleased with the finished artical. I actually finished the build over a month ago but had problems with a (well known) company when I ordered the airbrush compressor, so only painted it this past week. Anyway, i'll post some pics of the tank, and hope to gain some advice from more experienced modellers. Cheers
