Ok th model arrived safe and well about an hour or so ago, and if I can persuade the cat to leave th box, I'll give you my fist impressions, Bloody Cat!beautifully cat , The main fuselage pieces are beautifully cast , th Aluminium reinforced resin makes for a superbly smooth finish , th engraving is good, obviously not Tamiya standards, but a damn sight better than I normally manage The single piece wings are awesome , excellent surface detailing including exquisite Vitex generators , thank god there ae no tiny PE bits to stick on, and speaking of PE, there isn't any , and to be honest there's no real need fo it , Except for the cockpit . Perhaps the weakest part of the kit , all the bits are there Panels, Seats ets, and side walls, but its all a little crude and unformed, BUT it's a job that any modeller who's worked in 32 should be able to manage to enhance it , and certainly its better that the cockpit pieced in the Whirlibird Lightning T5 conversion I bought this year. My kit has the bulged RAF bomb bay , so I can put the Balsa and Dope away , thank goodness Slipper tanks/Tailpieces all look to be beautifully finished, Overall , a beautiful take on an iconic aircraft , there are some areas where I'm scratching my head, and joining the two fuselage halves permanently is going to be interesting Alan - thanks , you've made me a VERY happy modeller PS there are RAF decals, ALPS printed , but to be honest they're not brilliant , but better than nothing , and yes pics to follow!

Well here one option BL755s Or my particular Fav Sea Eagles

Thanks for the update , the Martels , for me , aren't really that big an issue , there are plenty of other options Nav station - is that the blast screen that separates the Nav station , from rest of the cockpit if so , again that's not too big a problem , might look at doing a vac form pull using the kit one as a basis , but again , that really isn't a showstopper for me And for goodness look after yourself, you are rapidly becoming a one man industry , and people with your abilities are so rare you need to get well and stay that way! CR - still listening out for the Parcel Force van!

one on the way it seems !!! Yes I would welcome a set and , since my interest is mostly RAf , a re-print of 137 would be Favourite for me , the Gulf War scheme isn't really of much interest I'm afraid, RAF Geen/Grey all the way CR

Hi thee a;an,, I'm glad you're feeling better , and as an employee of the NHS,(sort of), we'e glad to be of service! I read the comments over on LSP and to be honest as a long standing member I was more than a little disappointed in what I read. Comments re lack of quality , "mis shaped" pieces etc are fair enough when the manufacturer is one of the larger =companies , but to apply those same standards to the product of a one man operation such as your self just seems wrong somehow. I had a good look at the pics of the detail pics posted on LSP , and frankly I didn't see what the "issues" were, to me it looks like an eminently buildable model of a subject that will not, in my opinion , ever appear as an injection moulded kit, 20 yeas ago a one man band not entirely unlike you produced a vac form 1/32 Buccaneer and to my knowledge he never produced a single complete kit , not one was ever fully finished , and I should know I had one for a while, until common sense took over and I sold it. The news that you've finished the bulged bomb bay is very encouraging , since the RAF version was only the only version I really wanted , and don't sweat the Martels on my account, mine is going to have Flightpath Sea Eagles.. I'm delighted to hear that I'm on the list, and that knowledge has made my year , ,,,Keep up the good work, and don;t let them get you down PS On LSP I'm Scotsman over on the LSP forums just read the Buc posts on LSP , you've got an ally over there!

Alan - Please take time and get well, modeling is fun , but you can't take risks with your health .. We can wait..
-
Thanks for the update , one of these days I'll get back to Telford again.. Patiently waiting!

Having cut my teeth on the Aerodynamix 1/32 Buc back in the 90's any kit that doesn't need to be cut out and sanded is a step ahead, ! Being a good Scot , my inclination is 12Sq Lossie based Camo'ed aircraft with 4 Sea Eagles, so a lack of Martels really isn't really that important, , so even if I have to scratch the Pylons , I'll be happy Oh and my stack of Buccaneer reference books is standing by!
-
Thanks for that Simon, its great to know that Alan is moving forward on the Bucm I'm in regardless of how long I have to wait!
-
I've got an original 1960s boxing of the kit in the loft bought a Very long time ago , and occasionally I'll haul it down look at it , suck my teeth , and back it goes.. What I'm hoping is that reemergence of this one MIGHT provoke some AM companies to so the necessary with cockpits/etc.. but I'm really not holding my breath on that, perhaps we might get a Gen 1 Harrier/Sea Harrier in 32nd for the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands, but again I've always been an optimist
-
Patience is a virtue.. so I'm still looking forward to one , whenever it appears! Thanks fr the update Alan

An S1, in EDSG/White.. Hmmm.. you bad bad man!

Woo Hoo A Bulged Bomb bay and RAF decals , wonderful news, I currently reading "Buccaneer Boys " and I have "Last of the Buccaneers" sitting on the bench waiting ... Have a great time at Telford alan, I wish I was going, and we'll all wait patintly for what I'm sure will be a beautiful project!

No apologies required , we're all modellers here , and what is being provided is a LOT better than the Aerodynamix kit! I am seriously looking forward to getting to grips with this beast , and to exercising my modelling skills .. bring it on we're all more than ready to get started on this wonderful project
-
Yup , much as I'l love to do a korean war Night intruder, it's the thought of a 32nd K that really interests me , I've got a Bronco done, a T-28 Pending ,along with a couple of A-1's so a K would just slot into the COIN collection beautifully
-
thanks for that chris , unfortunately got a bounce back on that address C'est la vie
-
I think I need one of these buccaneers and I mean as soon as it becomes available .. anyone have contact details for the supplier
-
Hannants are listing the Dragon Saturn 5 (Skylab) as a future release, at £126 , which is a heck of a lot cheaper than I've seen it on E-bay ..

I'm a devoted 1/32 modeller , but so far I've passed on the big beasts , B-17/HK Lancaster , partly because of size issues and partly cost , BUT based on what I've seen in the Wingnut Lanc, I think I'm going to buy this beast , the detail is just too tempting , and the chance to work on something that embodies the State of the Art in kit production is just too much to resist . As to cost , I'm not rich, I don't have a huge stash , what I buy I build , having said that I do have a monthly budget I stick to , and buying the Lanc means I'll not be buying anythign else for atleast 4-5 months , and that seems like a pretty good deal I guess, since this beast will take at least that long to complete . So Sir Peter bring it on , !

The actual kit is really very good, , but ANY improvement to the original Dragon instructions would be a real improvement , The decals look good too at 49.99 its around half the price the Dragon kit usually goes fro , so yup , I may well have to invest in one
-
Oh yes, I'll be having at least one, IAF, Light Attack for preference .. Nice work Danny , looks like patience and perseverance has paid off
