  1. If you want a REALLY useful walkround of a Buc.. this site has become my main reference Buc Walk round Its brilliant ..
  2. Hi there , I was just wandering if there was any update re the decals , I'm slowly hacking away at my Buc, and I can start to see the need from Decals in the next 2-3 months

    Thanks

    Colin Ritchie

  3. Hi there simon , pylons posted this morning 1st Class, signed for , so they should be with you before the weekend - all things being equal

Thanks Colin. I'll let you know when they arrive!

      Great!

PS - How is your build going?

  4. Oh yes , the RAF pylons both inner and outer are identical to each other , and are completely different from the RN ones , RAF Buccaneer Pylons - in this case carrying Sea Eagles' - Yum.. Maybe not the best pic.. Definitely different -
  5. I wanted a challenge , too many Tamiya spits and mustangs, where's the challenge in that ! Just recovering after a session trial casting pylons, and replacing all the detail lost when joining the fuselage halves together ..Nice to do some real modelling rather than just assembling!
  6. At the rate my one is progressing , it'll be some time next year before I'm ready for paint - let alone decals !!
  7. That pic is perfect. just what I've been looking for ! I actually guestimated the structure and built a version of last night , and low and behold , its almost right! Thanks guys
  8. Another request for ihelp , Does anyone have detailed pics/ diagrams of the underfusalage Chaff Flare dispensers by the airbrake , I have the odd pic , but no clear details of the entire assembly , which is a pity as I'm in the process of scratchbuilding it for my 32dn Buc Thanks
  9. Alan , you're right about the dust! , I had to buy an oldfashioned apron to keep the worst of it off my clothes! As for the intakes, hah I'll pass I couldn't face the cutting , sanding/grinding and sheer messing around they would entail , FOD guards hide a multitude of sins, and add a nice splash of colour ro what can be a rather drab aircraft , even with those wonderful markings On another note I've started working on the production version of the RAF pylons and so far they've taken about half the time the original masters took over Xmas, learning curve kicking in I guess .. so by the end of next week I should have some completed ones ready for dispatch to interested parties.. ColinR
  10. Talk about mixed feelings , I WANT that sheet so badly , mainly because my last 3 projects have been completed with off cuts from delcal sets I've had to buy , so my Meteor 1/32 F8 conversion , because I wanted a camo'ed version ended up costing me something like £45 in decals alone , when the cost of the various sets I used was added up so while £35 seems a lot I'm prepared to pay is , albeit with a heavy heart I always had an idea that these markings weren't going to be just £25 , so I was sort of resigned to it ,especially since they're essentially bespoke.. so bring it on , one more expense in what is rapidly becoming my most expensive project ever!
  11. OK I surrender .. that pic was taken a while ago , on my first attempt at the academy 1/32 F-16I The library has basically doubled in size since that pic was taken , one of my few vices I'm afraid , that and modelling .. Since I seem to have opened myself up to ridicule, , it might be worth while to see who is on the receiveing end of all these comments Again some time ago, nowadays the beard is thicker, and greyed as is the hair, and there's a fair bit less of me in general!
  12. Cheek - I tidied it up specially for the pics, its usually a LOT worse! The pylons were fun to do , the modeller I mentioned , the one who shratchbuilds ships was a real inspiration, I spent ages watching how he did things , he has a fairly specialised set up , including a vac chamber to outgas the resin, but his approach of using wood for the basic shapes then skinning them with thin plastic to allow him to add detail seemed one that could be copied without a huge outlay in materials, and so far so good. RAF all the way , specifically 12 Sq Lossiemouth for me, partly because its just up the road from aberdeen, and because of stories I heard about them from a retires Ait Traffic controller who use to try and wort our what happens when lox flying buc scared guys flying to and from the oil rigs in the north sea,(How low can you go, was the question, And the reply produced the confession , "12 feet is my lowest recorded altitude" ) I'm playing around with the intakes, BUt increasingly the thought of FOD guards seems an option , the geometry of the intakes is a pain and I don't envy you trying to reproduce it ! The cockpit isn't too bad , some time with generic PE panels can cure many of the issues, , and frankly I'd rather have something I can work with , rather than having to build it from Scratch ! Oh - as for the workshop..
  13. hi there alan - that's great timing , I was working on the kit engine fronts last night , and I got part way in , but when the fit issues became obvious, I started looking at creating FOD guards! https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/82749-132-buccaneer-s2b-icelandic-fine-arts/ A link to my build - you might get a laugh out of it! CR
  14. I bought the Airfix S2C to act as incentive/inspiration for this beast The 32nd one from Icelandic, and much as I liked putting the airfic one together in an hour or so , I still prefer the challenge of working on something this size.. ! If you want more of the same - have a look here https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/82749-132-buccaneer-s2b-icelandic-fine-arts/ colinR
  15. True, I don't know if I'[m the only one who's actually building the Buc kit , but I'm a LONG way from thinking about decaling/paining seeing as I only got the fuselage stuck together last night!
  16. thanks for that link , and I think the appropriate comment looking through it is , "Fill yer boots"! My office printer is about to be VERY busy
  17. Over on LSP there's a long thread re the HK and its protracted development process, one snippet that appeared recently was the fact that the projected price for the HK kit is likely to be at least 150% of the cost of the Icelandic F-4 , guess which one I'm buying!
  18. thanks for the resources, since i'm in the middle of the Icelandic 1/32 Buc,, a great project , aut it involves a fair amount of Scratchbuilding / Modeling skills - On that note - does anyone have drawing of the RAF Pylons, especially the outer ones, for the record I'm planning a 12Sq S2B , complete with 4 Sea Eagles Thanks
  19. Sorry , My one will be XB891, 12 SQ RAF Lossiemouth,
  20. Ok we've got a comedian...! Still giggling! actually I'm going to grind out a recess in the bomb bay , a decent compromise I think that does not endanger the fuselage halves too much , so my chances of having a new ornament in the house are significantly reduced! I was amazed when I sanded the fuselage halves and they shone with a beautiful metallic sheen .. never expected that, I got the wings and U/c bays cleaned up and once the fuselage is together , the model should come together rather quickly, The next big job will be the creation of the RAF pylons, and thanks to the Buccaneer thread elsewhere on the site , I have a location for the outer omes, 5th Vortex out from the wing joint , , goodness I'm becoming a Buc nerd! Thanks again Alan, great to hear from you and building the model is becoming the best project I've taken on in many a year colinR
  21. Just posted an update over on LSP , overall its going well, Cockpit tub has been worked on and tweaked, along with the sidewalls which have been fitted along with New sills - but I have a question Alan , The Bulged RAF Bombay , is the intention for the original bombay doors to be removed to fit it , or as I've been thinking , just Dremel the RAF casting to fit over the existing ones, To be honest I'm a little wary about chopping up such a large casting! Oh I think I've finally settled on an airframe to build, XN891, 12 & 208 Sqs
  22. Aerodynamix , I could tell some stories ... I got to know the man behind Aerodynamix fairly well in the run up to the release of the kit , and I think I was one of the first to receive a kit, and I shudder to think how little I offloaded it for a year of so later when it became obvious that it was as close to unbuildable as you could get , there were bits missing , and generally was not worth persevering with. It didn't help that the on-line model shop he was selling it through ripped everyone off , taking deposits for the kit , knowing full well it was at least a year from being ready .. I did spend quite a lot of time online , as it was in those days, defending Aerodynamix (Rec.Models.Scale- remember that), but we live and learn Those were the bad old days , no Online presence, no social media, no paypal, etc, I could go on and on , but I won't! So onto alan's masterpiece and with a weekend to fondle the kit kit I retain the same warm glow as I had on Friday , and yes the dammed cat finally left the box alone, Its a strange mix of Really simple, and extremely challenging , simple , well there are 9 major pieces making up the fuselage and wings , and complex in the sense that putting them together in a form that makes the most of them will take old fashioned modelling skills, Filling , sanding and probably scratch building , none of which worries me in the least. I sat down with the cockpit parts last night ,and compared them to the pics I have , the various boxes , lumps and bumps are all there , they just need a little re-defining , Airscale generic cockpit parts I think , along with stretched sprue buttons and so on . I might shoot a coat of primer over the whole lot , to make things a little easier to see , the Milky Bar coloured resin makes things a little hard to make out!. Other than that I can see there being much of a problem with building the kit , and making it a show stopper. Alan as I said you really are to be commended for having the courage to put something like this together and making it available, you've done the old Buc proud , and once I've finished my 2 Seafires , its full steam ahead!
