  1. I was a little lukewarm on the model after completing the PCM one a year or so back, but man those sprue shots have changed my mind big time, I'm for sure going to get the II and who knows maybe another Mk5 as well, It looks like a really superb kit , and an object lesson in that good things come to those who wait! It's going to to be quite a hawker line up in 32nd in my house soon , Hurricane, Typhoon, Tempest, Sea Fury , Hunter and GR9 Harrier , just wish I could add a 1st generation harrier without wrestling that old Revell dog for 5 months or so!
  2. really beautiful work Nick - simply superb..
  3. How about .. See the full thread here .. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y170/njakob/CAD/3D%20prints/35zm_zpsjhjfaytb.jpg The help crews are on page 12.. prepare to be amazed at the quality of these figures
  4. I've got a Ic awaiting my attention, but the Sea hurricane is version I really want - bring it on...!
  5. I've always had in mind a dio of a flower class tied up on the quayside , its was a touch unrealistic in 72nd , but 1/144.. now you're talking..N gauge buildings.. .. nice!!!!
  6. Well its out.... http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/mrt65307-os.htm Oh my poor aching wallet
  7. Beautiful build of what seems to be one of Revell's best , i'll be keeping an eye on this build seeing at the original was built in aberdeen . There's a beautiful model of the original in the aberdeen Maritime Museum , it must be close to 1/48th and it has been an inspiration for me for years .. http://www.aagm.co.uk/thecollections/objects/object/Thermopylae-Clipper-Ship?l I've got the Constitution in the stash , but I think its one for my retirement !
  8. It has been pointed out on LargeScale Planes that the kit on display is NOT the model that will be shipped , its simply a place holder , the actual kit is still being worked on Same is true for the F-18E I believe , the model on display has been Id'd as the Trumpeter kit ..
  9. The mirage is accurate , but a little crude in places, and the fit isn't exceptional , but its highly buildable - the F-35 is a very nice surprise , and i'll be getting it as Soon as its available , for me its really good news, especially as the aviation mags have been all over the F-35 in the last few months after the Marine corps IOC of the type , This is a very good day, - would be a lot better is someone would do a 32nd F-22 to go with it tho!
  10. Excellent price half that of the PCM Hurricane when it was originally available .. Hmm Sea hurricane to start .. and then we'll see.. Its nice to have the option of choosing when it cones to 1/32 hurricanes!
  11. wow that's beautiful.. wish it was 32nd , 48th really doesn't do it for me
  12. OOh yes .. perhaps my 350th Force H will move on from just HMS Sheffield after all...!
  13. yup , its the remnant of a insert for the fuselage mould , it'll take about 2 mins to sand out
  14. Unlike some of the others discussing the kit here , I actually have one , and I'm actually working on it , Overprices, well perhaps £90 in the UK is a little off, I bought mine from Italeri direct , and paid the Euro price for it , plus shipping , as fro value for money , Its really a pretty good kit, panel lines seem to be lot better than those in the 104 kit, excellent choice of relevant weapons, Excellent decal set 6 options , in a 32nd kit, not to be sneezed at . The cockpit is a little sparse , but since the real thing is Black there's not a lot to work with , the IP needs a little help, blank faces, no decal option in the kit, sounds for a job for Aeroscale instruments , and they worked perfectly Overall , very happy with the model indeed, 32nd is never going to be a cheap option ,but its my preferred scale, and this is an excellent example of modern tooling producing a model of a subject that's been seriously short changed over the years , bring on the E, and then Kifirs!!
  15. not too visible, and there are FOD guards available to remove any temptation to spend money ! This gives you an idea how you need to hold the model to actually see down the intakes,,,
  16. I had one of these sets on order when Dave pulled the plug, never received mine , and had to go to the Cc company to get my money back..almost glad I didn't get one , how would it feel to have one of these sets , used it , and then see the prices they go for now.. yikes.. what would you rather have a 32nd F-4K or £400+ .. Hmmm Sort of glad I was never faced with this dilemma!
  17. It depends on what you consider problems, the upper wing join is still a so and so to get right , one way round it is to attach the upper wings to the upper fuselage piece , before attaching the lower fuselage piece , that way you can finesses the joints , Intakes - there are seamless resin intakes out there , a better option that tryign to smooth out the kit supplied ones.. try e-bay , Rhino Model works The jet pipes are too long , GT model works http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=52001 have replacements Watch for the vertical tails - , on the real aircraft there are no panel lines at the place in the kit where they attach, make sure you clean the joint up.. GPS dome needs adding for a modern jet - as does missile launch rails.. the ones int he kit ate AiM-9 only , the later LAU-127(?) for the aim-120s are available , but its not too important on E's Better seats , or some PR straps make a big difference Weapons - Depending on the whether yuo get the Bunker Buster boxing of the E or the original you may need to think about replacing the Drop Tanks , the original ones are just plain wrong, those in the Bunker Buster boxing are much better The time scale your modelling will be important as regards weapons/pods - lots of reference out there This is you best reference by far .. http://www.f-15e.info/joomla/ Other than that , its a great kit - enjoy , (I've done 4 of the beasts!) My latest one - done a coupel of years ago - F-15I Ra'am
  18. Hmm , with the right resin , its an ok starting point for an F-16 , not a god as the Tamiya , but it looks like an F-16 once its done, but since I've built 7 of them over the years I think my academy F-16 itch is well and truly scratched!
  19. Well since my 32nd f-4B built nearly 10 years ago using the Extinct Cutting Edge sets cost me at least £160-£170 then so when it comes to spending big money on specialist F-4 variants if you want it , you pay for it . the key is if you want if , I accept that 32nd is a scale that is a niche interest , but some of us do love working with models this big , and accept the associated costs ..maybe that'll change when I retire in 10 years of so .. but for the time being I'm enjoying it, and yes an F-4B without hacking up a tamiya kit sounds really good.. Bring it on...!
  20. As a die hard 32nd only builder , with 10 Tamiya F-4s done so far , this is the best news I've had in long time and I can see 4 at least in my future , depending on decal options, and since Jennings Heilig is involved in designing the kit decals , and additional ones in his Fundecal range , that seems pretty well assured Bring them on .. Please .. As for getting in the way of the Lanc, well I can house a lot more F-4s in 32nd that Lancs!
  21. Bring it on , we've been told that Kinetic are doing the E, Italeri were pretty quick off the mark in modifying their 104 from a G into a C , so hopefully the same will be true for the Mirage
