  1. So here we go, I took the started one out of the box to recall how much had been done, more than the 25% rule me thinks! On with the new build, for such a big kit there are not that many parts or assembly steps (page 1 of 2) Starting with the cockpit I could not resist adding to the parts count with the FE and Nav stations The fuselage interior got a splash of Tamiya silver (it's all I had on hand) I decided to paint the cockpit walls grey So we are off!
  2. Yes, All P-8s initially come out of the factory in the same config. To be sure just check some images of RAF P-8s and compare with USN/RAAF to find any differences. I don't think you will find any except for the markings.
  3. I decided to confront the masking demon And attach the engine fairings/under carriage bays to the wings The gear legs were de-flashed and are ready to attach. I also have the cannibalised wheels from the Airfix kit which I think I can make fit. Finally the engines were attached (props temporarily fitted)
  4. Thanks Cliff, Big is the word, here is an in work E-8 I built a few years back with a Spitfire Mk1a for size comparison.
  5. I am already signed up for that one, plenty of KC-135s and other 707 variants waiting in the stash
  6. I am a late starter for the GB as I could not decide on my build. So here it is The box contains two kits, one part started and the other untouched, I may do both if I have the space. As you can see I have decals for both QANTAS and the RAAF. I also have another QANTAS sheet for the later ochre cheatline scheme which I am tending towards.
  7. This one needs masking which I have not been bothered to do. I am distracted by another more appealing build at the moment. Hope to get the masking mojo back soon.
  8. I have been put off by the masking effort and have not touched this one in a while, might build the courage to have a go soon
  9. 1/72 Fujimi (plus Scalecraft conversion) Douglas TA-4S1 Skyhawk 142 Squadron, Republic of Singapore Air Force
  10. Well, 4 1/2 years later I managed to finish this one in KUTA 2023/4
  11. And it is finished as TA-4S1 909 of 142SQN, Republic of Singapore Air Force
  12. What a blast from the past Kev, those are kit engines I sent you. I may have cleaned them up with oven cleaner, that has given them the resin look I think. I have one of these at the paint stage to be finished in NASA markings, now where did I put that kit?
  13. Just catching up on this one, looks like it is going together nicely Enzo. There has been discussion about the main gear wells and lack of forward doors and the well itself for this kit. It looks like they have been omitted totally. Your underside shot earlier shows the lack of well or even scribed detail to suggest a door is there. I expect it is a little late to do anything about it?
  14. So I added a final gloss coat and thought it was ready for decals Nope, more painting, the intake warning strips had to be painted! (the model is under there somewhere!) Ahh yes, here it is and touch ups finished. Now once everything is dry it will be ready for decals
  15. Lovely work Steve, a very feasible Whif and nicely finished
  16. Very nice Ratch, great dio set up too
  17. I shall be watching with interest, another I worked on in the RAAF (like the HS-748 Cliff is building). Looks like a nice kit.
  18. Nice choice Cliff, I am still undecided on my build but a 1/72 HS-748 did pop into the list. I spent 3 years working on them in the RAAF so you have my full attention with your build!
  19. Cheers Col, I have seen one or two, in 1/72 scale the conversion is hard to find. I had mine or over 10 years. I believe someone is tackling a new release of the TA-4S, can't recall the scale. Most parts are now on, I need to do some touch ups and it will be ready for decals
  20. I remembered that I should be getting this one finished Mostly paintwork going on and finding out that more parts need to go on Once the final fiddley bits are added the decals will be going on.
