    Nice build :)

I don't know if it's the pictures, but on my screen the green looks metallic which wasn't used back then 🤔

But it may just be a trick of the light :)

Yes you are correct. I can only spray with rattle cans and this was the best colour available at the time.

The original steam roller I guess. Nicely done. I'd just darken the chain coming down from the roof a bit, looks a bit bright for something like this.

    That is a good idea

It is not the proper one as I bought kit second hand and the correct chain was missing

  2. Below is my attempt at the very old Bandai Road Roller. Lovely kit, very fiddly, I soon learned the lesson of not trying to do too much in one go. I also started to try and make the mechanism workable but soon gave up.

The worst problem was the decals. As this kit is probably over 30 years old I copied the decals on to clear laser sheets. I tried some varnish on the old decal sheet but it just fell apart. I used the decals from the sheets I printed but whilst they were OK they would have been better on a white background but to be honest after trying to cut out the decals on the clear I soon found out that to try and cut out and remove all traces of the white background would be impossible on most of them, for me anyway.

The decals even then were easily damaged so I had to be very careful cutting them out. So most of the decals are a bit faded in appearance especially in pictures but they are OK in real life. The only ones that I failed on were on the front roller frame, just gave up on them. After another coat of varnish I just couldn't get rid of the film and on a black background looked awful.

Anyway I am pleased with it, far from perfect but for my level of building models quite good.

  3. If you listen to Deep Purple Made in Japan the phrase " Everything louder than everything else" is stated

Well this kit should have the phrase "Paint everything before fitting and fit everything before you paint it.

It is not the easiest kit to build, doors were a pain which I fitted before I painted but then had them swinging about whilst build the rest so had to keep taping them shut or open

Bonnet was a complete pain and didn't fit or close so I ended up fixing it closed. Not that you could open it with the spare wheels fitted anyway

I took a couple of pictures before it was closed for good

Still  as always with my models it looks good from a distance, has a few blemishes but invariably I make them worst by trying to fix them so if not too bad they are left

I am reasonably happy with it as it feels that  I am slowly improving

  4. I hope this is allowed to be put on here and not repeated somewhere else on this site but I spotted this in an article in Mail Online

This fundraiser is organised by ROYAL AIR FORCE MUSEUM.

Arthur Scarf was the recipient of the only Victoria Cross awarded to the Royal Air Force during the fighting in the Far East in the Second World War.

The medal has been sold at auction, but we have been given the opportunity to fundraise and match the sale price. This will allow the Royal Air Force Museum to display the medal and share Arthur's amazing story.

We need your support to raise £250,000 by 30 April 2023! Without your help, this medal will be sent overseas and lost to the nation.

  5. Went down to Didcot from Banbury Saturday and saw -

20/30s Bentley looked like a 3 litre shape

4 mini pick ups  in convoy

    Morris Marina

    and on the way back

What I think was a Beaufort with a ribbon on so a wedding car

A Bugatti, looked like a 35 but not sure what model it was but it definitely had the badge

Our service manager has a Porsche and went on a mystery run on Saturday Went from Porsche at Moreton in Marsh to Classic Car Center at Bibury

270 of them attended, must have been a sight worth seeing
