  1. Hello all, so I have Meng's fantastic-looking Renault FT in 1/35 to build, and I want to give it an interesting paint scheme. Turns out 20 Renault FT's were stationed in Indochina at the start of WW2, so I think I'll try to model one of these. Problem is, I haven't been able to find any photographs of them in the Indochina theatre. So my question is, does anyone know how these vehicles were painted? Bronco do a French Chaffee in Indochina war colours (all-over olive drab, imaginative), but this a US vehicle and in the wrong war. If anyone has any ideas (or even better, references) please let me know.
  2. Like you I was interested in these kits; I'm fairly sure they come with track (though you could probably do something with 00 gauge model railway track worst case scenario). From the reviews I saw online the kits look fairly basic but build up fairly nicely, similar in complexity to a matchbox 1/76 armour kit.
  3. Built this kit earlier this year, albeit without the PE upgrades. Damn impressive kit when finished, be careful with the blocks which the boiler sits on at the front of the locomotive, I found them to be a bit too close together when fitted. As has been mentioned, if the underframe is finished it will go together fine. I would also recommend painting the valve gear before assembly. Love your workbench by the way, might have to do something like that with my cabinet doors!
  4. The Bren and the MP-40 aren't bad, but the Vickers K's and the M2 are not the best without a bit of work on the grips. Dipping into the spares box would be a good idea.
  5. Cheers Ozzy, the SAS/LRDG jeep is a treat to build, lots of stowage and weapons configurations to get creative with. Be advised that the Thompson in the kit is wrong, it should be a model 1928 rather than an M1
  6. Hello all, first post on the forum, so be understanding of any mistakes... This is my Academy M151A1 Ford mutt, the Vietnam war-era light utility vehicle of the US army. I purchased it 2nd hand, and when it arrived I found an eduard etched brass detailing set in the box! (admittedly it was for an M151A2, but beggars can't be choosers and all that). Really enjoyed the build, and as you would expect from an elderly Academy kit which cost £8, it was in primer the same evening it was started. No problems with the fit, and the eduard set was surprisingly not that bad (despite my less-than-perfect track record with PE). Have it a pristine finish as I am planning a diorama of all the different types of jeeps and variants I can find (armoured jeeps, ambulances, TOW-mounted jeeps, etc) lined up at an airshow or museum.

  8. Hi all, Recently picked up a Heng Long mk1 Tiger for £60, painted in Panzergrau. The previous owner was a bit hamfisted, by that I mean he put the stickers on lopsided, the wrong number on the turret and the mudflap securing clip was snapped off. So, my plan is to repaint it as "Semken's Tiger", the first tiger captured in Normandy by the Sherman of John Semken, commander of the Wiltshire Yeomanry. The tiger in question is Tiger 114, 2nd Kompanie, 101st SS Schwere Panzer Abteilung. So my question is, does anyone know how to get hold of the appropriate decals or painting masks? Found some masks online but the tank in question has two colours to it, looks like a dark red with white border, and the mask looks like only one single colour. Any suggestions?
