  1. Yes they are a great improvement on the kit offerings. AW
  2. I’ll add to the general acclaim by saying that turned out rather nicely after all the pain it put you through. AW
  3. The Graugrun looks OK to me too. AW
  4. Looks good, I wouldn’t worry about the colour of the tank, after all in reality they would not have been painted at the same time or in the same place so some difference is to be expected. AW
  5. Nice choice of subject. Is this the one with the replacement starboard wing and resulting mismatched camouflage? AW
  6. Hmmm, something of a paradox here. Nice work on the Javelin any rate. Like the printed engine face idea. AW
  7. That’s really nice. Great work on those struts! I built the Toko Hansa Brandenburg D.1 a few years ago a and getting the star struts lined up was a total nightmare and I was not very happy with the results. AW
  8. Nice to know it’s just not me! The rest of the kit apart from this part is not so bad, typical short run I guess, no locating pins a few gaps and steps, a bit fiddly in places and requires some care. Oh and one of the wing upper parts was warped. I’m getting to the point where I will be able to prime so we’ll see how it looks. AW
  9. Beautiful model and the fact that it is scratch built has me in awe of your skill. AW
  10. Quick update on the Harrier. Most of my modelling time this week has been taken up with filling and sanding to eliminate seams, so no photos. what I have also done, following my comparison of the instructions and the moulding, is to break out one of my other Sword Harriers. The area at the front of the cockpit that is shown in the instructions as an open area is marked in pen below: I cut this area out and test fitted the coaming: Still doesn’t fit, but with some fettling and fine tuning I think this may solve the problems in this area. AW
  11. A little more progress made with my Harrier. Finished the scratched instrument coaming and added the PE HUDs with little pieces of clear plastic added. Canopies masked and attached. The fit of the windscreen is awful and will require a lot of work to blend in. I think I may have the reason for all the problems at the front of the cockpit. Look at the area arrowed in the instructions. This is clearly drawn as being open. In reality it is filled in, which makes me wonder whether this is meant to be cut away? Something I will try when I build one of my other Sword Harriers (which may not be for some time!) AW
  12. Belgium’s top secret supersonic interceptor project. AW
  13. Don’t you just hate it when that happens. AW
  14. I had a think about how to address the problem of the front IP coaming and had a brainwave. I had a look through my spares box and found a drop tank of approx the right shape and cut the nose off a half piece. This was filed to shape and thinned and then glued in front of the IP. The piece was then further filed to the correct height and profile. A thin strip of plastic card filled the remaining gap and blended in with Mr Dissolved Putty. I’ll let this harden overnight before sanding. May not be perfect but much better than the Sword part. AW
  15. Wait till you get (if you haven’t already) those really annoying electric scooters for hire that the morons who use just leave all over pavement when they’ve finished with them. AW
  16. So the problems continue with this build. Today I decided to finish the cockpits with a view to getting the canopies on prior to final polishing and primer. Seats, control sticks IPs and the back seaters coaming went in with a minimum of fuss: Then this happened: There is no way that coaming is going to fit. It is too long, too wide and too shallow. Looks like I will have to either cut it down drastically or make a replacement part. AW
  17. Wow, that’s a great result from a Hobby Boss quick build kit. AW
