after I posted about one week ago my beloved 1/72 airfix bristol belvedere on the wrong forum-it was surrounded by a lot of very intimidating 1/35 armour ,the poor old veteran-I have taken extra care to post my 1dewoitine 520 on the aircraft forum. so I'm happy that I can show the result of my latest project,finished about a week ago . a 1/72 rs models Dewoitine D.520 in bulgarian service ,with roundels they had between 1945-1950 [if I'm not mistaken too much]. brush painted with humbrol enamels.....cockpit will be finished soon..

...I notice only now that I placed in the wrong department!...................it is not armoir ,but it is ready for inspection...so it could have been worse ..like work in progress for example.....

this is a very old airfix kit and has already been around a very long time in this world,made in 1960-ies I guess. some months ago I watched the bbc tv-series the last post and wanted to build such a lovely bristol belvedere myself .I have a second kit since two weeks ,and that one will have camo -colours ..ps ,I loved the colours of the jeeps and other cars in the last post too , that beautifull desert pink teint!! ...very inspirational too!... it is brush painted with humbrol enamels, the white is oil paint from a tube. the moders white [and yellow] paints need so many layers that I decided oiol paint from a tube and this works ok . funny that the blue decal line looks green on this photo. on the site where I had posted these pictures so I could upload them to britmodeeler ,someone told me my paintwork might a little sloppy ,he advised me to remove that brush hair near the cockpit . sloppy paintwork ,I must confess is very well possible ,but this time it is not a bush hair ,it is a scratch in the plastic .this is a very old kit -from the 1960-ies I think ,more or less my age-

.....neighbour walter had some time to spare earlier today .he made over fifty photo's of my latest projects. we start with the dutch 1/72 DouglasNorthrop 8A [the dutch version was numbered ba-3n] mpm models.this is first because I used the only recently available hataka lacquer paint set with the dutch colours from the 1930-ies and may 1940 . this plane has a tragic history .it was intended to be used as a bomber ,but the americans had not delivered the bombs .so it was used as a fighter ,and consequently met the same fate like the me-110 did in the battle of britain : almost all were destroyed , went down fighting. read this for more information. http://www.waroverholland.nl/index.php?page=douglas-8a-3n… must confess that I am not unhappy with this final result.,it is not such an easy kit to make something nice out of it ,this one was not the first one I tried to build.the antenna will come later ,but the position of that thing is awkward :every time you lift the model your thumb will push the thread on the wings and than it is too late and the damage is done [I'll use ez line from [deutsche mádel?] uschi van [von?] der rosten] ........the second plane is an 1/72 rwd 5 ,a very basic kit made by pladtyk models . it was like a vacu kit ,the polystyreen! but it is very cheap ,less than four euro ,on ebay.. and and and and and and and and ps ,I still have in my stash a plastyk kit of a rwd 6 ,was in the same lot of six kits for 14 euro on ebay some time ago

two planes are to inspected here today ,both built by me [who else?], both painyed with hataka lacquers ,orange line . the first one is my 1/72 martin m-187 maryland .kit is from ark models and really very affordable!! there is not much to say about it besides that from a distant it looks best,it is not perfect ,but the gay colours can cheer up someone who is wrestling with a sad or depressing day /time/mood/whatever . I used the french hataka orange line lacquers colours set for my contraption.I must say that I like working with those lacquers very much . I am a beginner with the airbrush so I guess this means something ,exactly what I do not know [hopefully] yet. my second plane, here to be seen, is a 1/72 italeri cant z-501. also painted with the hataka orange line lacquers .for this one the sets with french colours and the set with raf desert colours were used. I am quite happy with the result. ps ,only now I notice some details on the martin that need attention ,guns[?] in the wings+pitot [I remembrt having seen the "fork".. and an ugly piece of cockpit frame is ennoying me loudly! all things have been taking care of by the time you read these words and and and and and and maybe some photo are uploaded twice ,I lost my panoramic view over all my creations that I uploaded at imgur mea culpa.....time for the cant-z.501 now and and and and and .

my 1/72 italeri cant z-1007bis monoderiva ,painted with humbrol enamels and my glelcoe 1/74 martin b-10 bomber in general I saw .the martin b-10 painted completely green . I chose for a more colourful interpretation,not in the last place because there is already a green giant 1/72 airfix handley page WWI bomber in my collection .and I like those interbellum american colours ,the yellow especiaLl ,but yellow and green is fine too .the martin was also painted with humbrol enamels. and my neighbour was so good to take some photo's with his handy telephone and who succeeded in eternalizing a not un-importanr part of the genial creator of those two aircraft models...... .yes people ,you believe it or not ,but I am one of those people who don't possess [funny word for a not native english speaker when he starts to think about it .two ss's?four ss"s?two times ses-ses if it would not have a negation?] and doesn"t want a i-phone/tablet/whatever ps , I see that the "2" on the left fuselage side of the monoderiva has moved and must be re-paired! quite unforbidding those gigantic pictures concerning the details! reminds me a little watching a passport photo of yourself ,or, even better maybe ,hearing your own voice recorded on a tape! and and and and and and and and and . and now the american martin b-10 and and and and and both were built earlier this year=2018

a long time has passed since I posted some of the things I build , so it is time now to show some aircraft of mine that were built in 2018? we start with an irish gloster gladiator ,from airfix in 1/72 <a href="https://imgur.com/Eh5pfUf"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/Eh5pfUf.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a> and and .......followed by an roden se-5 ,1/72 and in the colours of the first south africa airforce https://jaapvdlaan.imgur.com/all/?third_party=1#_=_ and and the next photo shows a choroszy 1/72 parnall plover that I have posted in 2017 [I believe] and my blue koolhoven fk-56 with war roundels/triangles used in 1940. it is in 1/72 and I think it is an omega models kit ,but I am not sure ,it is resin.it was bought on ebay for ridiculously little money -less than 20 euro's posting included- and I was a happy man on the day the deal was done. small details on the aircraft were perfected some time after taking the pictures and and and and . now the last pictures for today .yesterday I asked my personal photographer neighbour walter to make some pictures of kits which were built latest summer by me and it is my intention to show these photo's shortly ,if I can find inspiration for a next posting . this time I will end with a revell 1/72 fiat cr-42 -six euro's on ebay- in swedish colours and a manchukuo tachikawa ki-9 ,in 1/72 too and a rs models kit ,very nice kit I think ,I have another kit in my stash from the same aircraft ,but this one is a resin kit from choroszy ,looks beautifull! and inspirational when looking at it , and and and and [yes ,it is stabilized again now!] and and and . as a final appetizer I'll show a picture of my cant z-501 ,from italeri 1/72, that I am still working on . I want to show the camo , airbrushed with hataka lacquer paints and the result is a big inspiration to me for the rest of the work that still has to be done...I started with two shades of grey ,I air-brushed it freehand,on the fuselage it worked out fine in my eyes ,but I was not pleased by the result on the wings .after some days I got the idea-listening to the new spititualized/jason pierce album [and nothing hurt] that was published on 8th of september,excellent album!!!- to see what adding of little french khaki would do . the result was surprisingly satisfying ,for me at least ,and the thing will end in my room so all is ok!...... so far at least..... to be continued,I hope

four pictures of a1/72 messerschmitt me-110 that I built earlier this year. there is not much to say ,it is revell kit that I could buy surprisingly cheap on ebay, without many subtilities and no high expectation a result that would be acceptable to me . humbrol RLM enamel paints, a crude airbrush ,blueish grey and black green ,if I remember well . and and and thank you neighbour walter for making these pictures!

hi mr pat, here as promised my interpretation of the heller/azur/smer breguet 693. I re-started this hobby three maybe four years ago ,after I had discovered in 1960-ies and my teens the existence of airfix kits. this was one of the first planes that I built fter starting again,looking for rusty memories of how to do things.things like weathering ,dry brushing ,using an airbrush,photo etch and a lot more are new to me.the breguet is brush painted ,the potez en the leo+oliver are airbrushed. paints on the breguet are enamels from humbrol,I'll show you two french heller planes that were painted with the hataka french colours acrylic paints set . maybe you understand ,looking at my breguet ,that seeing your creation made me think of my own breguet? old and tested workhorse of an airforce that just had lost a war...... and and I see these are not the best photo's ever made ,and I am sorry for that.I did not do it myself ,which is a pretty lame excuse I guess? to give you an impression of the vivid colours that the hataka acrylics produced ,some pictures in which all six colours can be seen .succes ,and good luck with your creative projects and till a next time! and and and

dear mr john masters,I am little confused now by the remarks you made . so I cannot do much with your advice yet ,unfortunately.at first I thought you were talking of the red pfalz ,but later I started to see other possible connections and finally I thought maybe he is talking about the dornier?because I can understand very well that someone thinks about ways how to get more realistic results when he sees that plane the way I have made it but more realistic in what sense?in the choice of the colours? or do you mean technical improvements in applying the paints?about the last subject ,there is not much to discuss ,because I am very much aware that there still a kingdom to conquer for me in improving my brush painting/airbrushing skills. washes and weathering are still of secondary importance to me .this dornier was painted using an airbrush with humbrol/white ensign enamel paints,humbrol matt sand ,humbrol dark green and white ensign dutch chocolate/dark earth/dark brown ,whatever they call it. I could imagine if some one thinks the colours look "un-natural ,and I could agree with them immediately ,without having any further knowledge,but they are exactly what I tried to get .I never had seen an example of those balkan camo before and that scheme ,those colours were exactly whiat was so appealing to me. I talked about oil paints I use ,but that is only very recently ,and the results made me quite happy, to be honest.but untill now I used them on three ,maybe four bi-planes ,tiny bi-planes in bright colours like purple ,yellow ,you can imagine some other possibilities.I am not that fond of acrylics ,I have quite a lot of those,they are lovely and I use them quite often too,but it is not easiest paint for me to use. now you know more of what I did and do, maybe you can give me some advice that could be put in practice.by me. please keep it simple ,and concrete ,with as many examples as you can come up with,I would be very happy to try to put things in practice .I tried to find some of your work ,and is that italian front bristol a plane that you made?or srtill working on? I think that is beautiful ,the way how you build and paint such a "simple" thing [ha-ha ,simple???]like an engine.I am sure you could show me "tricks","secrets",skills ,and it was when I saw some years ago on the internet other examples of modelling like you made/make here , that inspired me to pick up again a hobby I had in the 1960-ies when was a teenager and I just had discovered the airfix kits. so ,thank you for all you said+intended to say,good luck with yopur bristol ,and if you can spare some time for giving me some advice ,,it's welcome! and you can be certain that I will experiment with it!

bytheway ,the siemens schuckert was not from eastern models I see only now but from toko.the difference is non-existent ,same molds ,different name only .very cheap to buy in russian [never mind the boycot by eu and rest of the world!] ,ukrainian or lithuanian shops on ebay .very reasonable postage too ,but have patience ,they may need some time before they arrive at your place. I bought many kits overthere and I never had even a single case for complaining!

I think that I used oil paint fropm a tube for this one. I discovered this may work out very nicely with the bright colours that were so often used on WWI aircraft . I tried that for the first time after on youitube I saw someone using oilpaint from those tubes for WWII monoplanes too ,on an ordinary spitfire I believe, --https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BitmaECqO30---- when I saw that clip I had to think of the oil paints I found with the stuff my mother had left after she died.I begin to spot more and more opportunities where it can be used.I fell especially in love with the colour vermillion .some months ago I posted here some pictures of my siemens-schuckert II [and not a pfalz iii Llike I said in my innocence!] done with the vermillion. the lozenge is from decals ,I have some sheets from different producers.the brown for the struts is comes from from a very old humbrol gloss tin,50 years old I guess, and rust comes vwery often but not always from a mig/ak acrylic rust paint set.I have all kind of brushes ,made from marter-hair up to very cheap synthetic brushes .marter brushes and fothouse artists produced round +block shaped and more I bought in a shop for art products - they are not really cheap- and the cheap ones at the action shops line [in holland] ,a kind of wallmart but not that big ,I mean ,it is very big shop with a lot of things but not wall market-ish big! for those smal;lsized airplanes I use very small ,I mean really small brushes ,but I work ,or try to work also with an airbrush. the bigger than really small or tiny planes -like those bi-plane fighters- were done mostly with an airbrush ,a sparmax airbrush ,not expensive ,maybe later I'll buy a more expensive one.I use humbrol enamels and acrylics ,and lately I tried a lacquer type of paint from hataka -the polish colours set- and I am really enthousiastic about them. in acrylic my favorite paint is without any doubt the lifecolor line ! for me it is without equal! https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235032741-172-pfalz-eastern-express/&tab=comments#comment-2932132

I see ,you are a car-man.like my neighbour ,the man who makes the photographs for me of my output. I will see what will be possible in showing my breguet ,maybe tomorrow already ,but that is not a promise. you will see when it succeeds. on cars one uses very different paints and colours [like gloss ,metallic] than on tanks+aircraft I myself have dozens of humbrol tins enamel-those I like most- and the modern acrylics from vallejo ,ag/mig and the very best in my opinion in acrylic type ,lifeclour paints. I remember from my brother .he too was ,no ,still is crazy about cars and built dozens of them.I have some of his old tins and use them very sparsely for my aeroplanes or tanks/armoured cars etc, maybe I can imagine a role for using them on modern planes or passenger planes ,but my taste lies mostly in propellor driven aeroplanes ,up till WWII, but there are some exceptions in my collection and my taste [tsr ,that kind of futuristic objects from the past -1950-ies/1960-ies- ,the valkyrie!!! .tanks I build too and I made one stutz bearcat! and that one was done only when I finally could find on the internet what car sweet jane and jack were driving in. after decennia wondering which thing it was they were driving , I had to have one when I finally knew the words! good luck, till the next time ,soon probably

....and I found this way to make my antenna wires and bi-plane rigging.I use ez line nowadays.it is not really cheap ,but you get over thirtyy meters....o wait ,300 feet-. you can buy it via ebay or look with google for the cheapest shop [I bought my latest in denmark! postage was very reasonable]. if you have a train on the attic,you can use it for making fences ,telephone wires and everything else your phantasy might come up with. it is very easy to work with ,in a matter of seconds you have an antenna wire [rigging a bi-plane ,not to mention rigging a ship [it is beautifull on ships!but than it is not easy.on ships I mean .look for an example with google!] will take considerably more time,but the the results can be great .it doesn't break and drooping is gone forever! the man in the clip tells quite a long story I think ,but will make things very clear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGYk68t6iFI maybe better to start with this clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8nymuYSMms

I built the same model and I remember the fight. yours could be the brother of mine.raised nails ,bolts ,screws ,whatever is the right word. mine has roundels on the fuselage.I had put mine on the companioning stand too,maybe it was the heller kit. it is an old kit ,and that can be seen .I experimented with a little dry-brushing when it was finished ,using alluminium coloured paint .it turned out quite nicely with all those nails,-rivets!that's the word!- and it was certainly an improvement. I have no picture of it in my archives on the pc .if you're interested I could show you a picture of it later ,just let me know. I am a fan of the colours the french had chosen for their planes in WWII. now hataka has a serie lacquer paints of those colours .I myself use[d] the hataka acrylic french colours paint set,they are nice I think .I tried their polish coloured lacquer paint series and became very enthousiastic about the results I got and now the lacquer french colours serie is very tempting to me too. I have shown here on britmodeller a polish los bomber that I finished lately with those lacquer paints. are there more french planes in your files? I will have a look later. now I must take the news to my breguet 693 that it has a brother now!

I intended this one for a future upload ,together with my sopwith strutter "1/2" ,but now that strutter was accidently uploaded earlier this sunday. here is one of the two bi-planes ,LVA =dutch airforce ,when it started in WWI , I have build this year .it is pfalz III ,the kit was produced by eastern models,and I enjoyed building it very much! as always it take some before I can set myself to process of rigging ,thart has still to come for this pfalz .but it will be done ,I am much to happy with it and think the plane deserves it . the dutch painted the orange circles over the german mltese crosses without first removing them . it was my intention,on purpose ,it was not one of my mistakes! and and and this upload is finished now too ,and I shall now take a well deserved [I suppose] rest re;oading the energy level for a next upload .uploading is a procedure that makes me very tired always .......I'll be back ,deo volente..

I have found time to upload two of my latest products ,both built in 2018 .there is a Curtiss SO3C Seamew from sword models and a dornier d0-17 k that was made by rs models ,both are 1/72 .building both the seames and especially the dornier was a terrifying and ugly struggle between man [me with my still limited skills+experience] and matter [the polystyreen].[and when I say ugly,I don't mean rough looking ,I mean hideous!] in the end I am happy with the results. happy too with the way my filler handling and sanding worked out in the end. I had no time yet to remove the canopy masks, and a few last details [like rest of decals,shark teeth especially!looking forward to them+re-joicing!] need some attention still too,but my neighbour walter is the man who always makes the pictures and he is busy man who is not always available ,so I took my chance today now he had some time. but the shapes are there and the places where filler was used are not too obvious,one must look quite well to find them.I guess that is how it should be? on the seamew almost no filler was used ,only some sanding to make parts fit better [or fit at all .but certainly not too many or very big problems,I must give swords models that and they made some models I will buy later [bytheway ,looking for information about the curtiss seamew I became aware of the existence of a short seamew.one of the ugliest planes ever they say .there is an affordable magna 1/72 kit that is high on my wishlist now] ,that sword kit of the seamew is ok I think].I had much fun building my first kits of 2018 ,and later I will show some LVA=dutch [beute] airplanes from WWI bi-planes of which the pictures are already in my archives,also made by walter earlier this sunny sunday. thank you walter .time for beer now! the sun is still shining and the weather is beautifull. the pictures from the planes are all that is still missing,I'll do something about that right now okay ,I made a mistake I see ,I uploaded the pictures of my sopwith strutter "1/2" that I promised to show a next time . the story of this plane is short ,it was a british plane that had to make an emergency landing in the netherlands in WW1,and we=the dutch were so smart to keep it -like they behaved in many occasions when a profit could be made or something could be gotten cheaply many other times before in history- to start their own airforce .the kit is from eastern models and I like those kits very much .but despite their often simple first appearance, they are not always easy ,be warned! . now the pictures of the seamew that are still missing . ............ up-loading those f... pictures and telling some stories is much more problematic for me and takes ten x more time than putting those aeroplanes together and painting them did! now I treated you on a free double number of seamew photo's than was intended! and and and and and and . the dornier now and and and and till a next time!
