Finnish Bristol Bulldog MK IV 1/48 scale
Nico Teunissen replied to Nico Teunissen's topic in Aircraft Interwar
Work started a few weeks ago on this project. Here are the top- and bottom wing placed on the (by now) 48 scale drawing from Crowfard book: The cutting of the edges of the top wing: Cutting out the bit of the other top wing: The added bits: Now it looks like this: For the bottom wing the procedure is a bit more difficult, besides the edges which needs same reshaping as top wings the inner side must be wider and the rest be shorter: Had a real messy desk in between: Many cheers, Nico -
I just made a start on the B4 (will do a Finnish one). Since it's based on this particular version I hope it will be better. Story sounds a bit the same as the AZModels Fokker CX. I built a Finnish one about 1,5 years ago. Has some mistakes but acceptable. The Dutch version from AZModels is a bit of a laugh to be honest. It's a modified mold form the Finnish CX which gives it features which are quit stupid, especially the shape of the underside of the fuselage. AZModels do nice subjects, but in many cases lack basic research (in my opinion). Cheers, Nico

2010 builds (and that's it!)
Nico Teunissen replied to Nico Teunissen's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
@ Maltadefender: which Nieuport? @ Walrus: yep now this dilemma, but since my modelling friend over here in Arnhem started the kit a week earlier then I did he already went for the twin tail version. In the end I was glad to do this one cause in this colorscheme it looks nicer to me. Cheers, Nico -

Finnish Bristol Bulldog MK IV 1/48 scale
Nico Teunissen replied to Nico Teunissen's topic in Aircraft Interwar
Just my idea! Cheers, Nico -
Some discussion about the Bristol Bulldog MKIV had been going on on this forum recently. These did help encourage me to do a 48 scale Bulldog MKIV Finnish version. I have a goal to build as many as possible "last fighting bipplanes this year, and this Bulldog serves this goal very well (could it be that the Bulldog was to most obsolute fighter in service during WW2 and actually made some scores?). I made some preparations so far. First thing of course is the Bulldog kit itself: I believe this Lindberg issue is the latest offering of the original Inpact kit which dates back tot the aerly 60'ies, a briliant kit for its time. One is not seeing double, I got two of 'm for reshaping the wings. I was lucky to find this one for only GBP 3, 50 on Ebay UK a few weeks ago. Reason it was this cheap were missing decals. And here are the booklets: Each contains some very nice drawings, but these are all in 72nd scale. I am thinking, by what percentage shloud a copy be increased for turning 'into 48 scale (would that be 72/48 * 100?) I will do this one as an on line built. Cheers, Nico

HR models 1/72 Bristol Bulldog IV
Nico Teunissen replied to Killingholme's topic in Aircraft Interwar
That sure is a great link. I already saw some drawings on Ebay (someone tries to sell an article from scale Aviation Modeller, I beleive from the 1970's) and just on this picture the difference in the shape of the wings was quit obvious to me. Cheers, Nico -

Interesting material. I actually bought a Inpact/ Pyro / Life Like/ Lindberg Bristol Bulldog together with a Gloster Gladiator from the same brand. I wanna do the same mentioned kitbash, but then in 48 scale. So all for me all information is more then welcome! Cheers, Nico -
Hello, Well as promised some pic's of my CV (built when I was 19 years old, so about 20 years ago). Propeller and wheels were taken from a Matchbox Hawker Fury Last evening I undusted it with Cyber Clean, gotta say this stuff did it's job very well! Well at this moment I am actually building another Fokker CV. This is going to be a Finnish Versio. A resin kit by PH Models, so far I am pretty happy with this kit. This eveneing I want to install the top wing by using an Aeroclub Jig: The kit does no provide indicators of any kind. Good luck with the build! Cheers, Nico
-
My sincere compliments. Did the Fe2b by Aeroclub myself, and the RE8 is still in my stash.... Cheers, Nico
-
Well, I do know it can be finished cause I built one of these ages ago. As a Dutch one (of course). After some seroius effort it does look like a CV though! Maybe I can add a photo if appreciated. Cheers, Nico

I built a few Karaya kits (DH 5 and Martinside Buzzard)) and as far as I am concerned Karaya is the Tamigaya amongst resin manufacturers. Briliant stuff! They released their first injection kit this year, which also looks perfect. Cheers, Nico -

My compliments. So far I have hardly ever seen an Eastern European short run company which did interwing struts in a corrrect length. Cheers, Nico (who's now absolutely sure he's not going to buy one) -

hello, Did one myself a few years ago, and acknowledge it's NOT an easy kit, but certainly worth the effort. I did mine as a glider tug, cause as such they were used over Arnhem. My model is now in a cabinet at a local aircraft museum in the glider section. Cheers, Nico -

Hello, We had some sort of same discussion on a Dutch website. At some point we came to the conclusion that the DXXi's and CX's which were sent to FInlang may have been painted "chocolate brown". The same color used on the Dutch military aircraft as from 1936, but together with green and a sort of ochre. This resulted in my CX (1/72 scale AZ Models) painted like this: Furthermore about Dutch LVA Khaki green. A brand called White Esign produces the exact colors for these. I used 'm recently on a Fokker C1 (1/72 resin model by Dutch manufacurer MBC Models): This green and blue matches surviving fabric examples perfectly, one only has to mix it with a bit of white for a 1/72 scale model. Good luck on the DXXI. Rememebr to have a good look at the Spads of this FROG model they need some serious re shaping. Not a very hard job, the back needs to be a lot more pointier. Cheers, Nico -

I can hardly believe it's 72nd scale! Very well done, also like the base. Cheers, Nico -
Psssst! They are MALE virgins! Better try you luck while being alive;) Cheers, Nico

Very very nice Camel, I did the same aircraft a few years ago. Not the Eduard one, but Roden in 1/72 scale. I really like the neat finnish, nothing overdone. Cheers, Nico

Hello, Hereby an image of my first work done on the SE5a. I never engaged a WW1 kit which fitted so well! Cheers, Nico
-
I just ordered the SE5a yesterday. I absoluteley intended not to order any, but I am too curious what it will be like to get one build. I hope Dutch Customs will go easy on my order (a friend of mine had to pay €22,- taxes!) Cheers, Nico

I always have my kits posted to the adress where I work, or sometimes a good friend. Saves same kind of trouble. Cheers, Nico
